VS Indiana

I’m liking our odds of a couple more wins. Indiana far from a free win though. But me likies the odds
If IU goes into Mackey, and wins? I'd be concerned with the Hoosiers. IF we do what we normally do? I think you beat our ass. Either way, its not a game I'm expecting to win. But certainly a game I think we could win. SHould be fun---as always.

You mean Gil got another detail wrong? There’s the troll we know.
This is going to be a very unpopular post by me, but it probably isnt his fault. If he was following on ESPN gametracker then he saw 34-31. They had the score wrong.

its dropped since they beat OSU? why am I not surprised by what kenporn does anymore.

but Iowa is 19-8 in the top 20 and is 6-3 vs top 25 teams with 7 quad 1 wins down because these Dropped out
Minnesota #31
Rutgers #32
these are the quad 1 wins
OSU
MD
Michigan
TT
Wisconsin
Illinois
Syracuse
these are the quad 1 teams left on their schedule
MSU #8
PSU #20
Purdue #25
Illinois #28

again the adj d doesn't mean sh*t, their adj O is #5. even their SOS after beating #12 OSU went from #76 to #84 THAT should tell you just how worthless kenporn is. with all those quad 1 wins and they have played 12 quad 1 teams. 5 in the quad 2.
Because you're unable to understand how and why a mathematical model works doesn't mean it's bad. You can win a game and play bad defense - which is what you did against OSU. It's not that complex. Your defense isn't good or average even. Deal with that reality.

I don't think Indiana matches up well with Illinois. We've feasted on smaller teams and teams that don't shoot well.

I'm not gonna argue with ya...But I'd certainly be willing to make a wager?

1. Money bet..

3. Ban..

You pick slick.
Slick? Nope. It is a walk. Every time. If you are sliding how can you have a pivot foot?

I would rather talk about your love affair with Duke. “Even they lost to sfa”. Is it because of Knights former affiliation with K? Of course good teams lose. The point on SDSU is 26-0 is a joke. They could beat any team in BIG. They could also lose to every team in BIG. Do not deserve a 1 seed. That is a joke.

Well obviously I get that, but saying a game is someone’s super bowl logically makes sense. I don’t agree with the premise at all, but the insinuation is that one team is taking the game more seriously than the other.

What is the insinuation of staying it’s like the pro bowl? That the game is less important than a normal regular season conference game?

I guess that’s a slam at iu because they still couldn’t beat a team that wasn’t trying, but I don’t usually make a habit of bragging that my team doesn’t care about a conference game, especially when both teams are (were) on the NCAA tourney bubble.

I get the rivalry banter, that analogy just made no sense.
The "super bowl" retort is dumb, but at least makes sense insofar as it's one rival fan base trying to spin a disappointing loss. Agree about the pro bowl reference, not sure it makes sense. That being said, if your team has no heart or effort when playing your rival on your home court, whom you haven't beaten in years, then wtf is your head coach even doing? He should have punched another clipboard...or thrown a chair, that probably would have been more fitting for that game.

Are you ignoring the other 4 positions?

Kp AVG height rank:

Ill-80th
IU-17th
Are you really that miffed about an off-hand statement about your team's height? Here, Illinois usually dominates teams that play small centers and that can't shoot.

I’ve just never seen anyone refer to IU as a smaller team. Smaller 5 sure go ahead I can partially agree with but TJD hasn’t exactly suffered from being a 6’9 5.

I agree with you on the travel. From the official rules handbook, "It is traveling when a player falls to the playing court while holding the ball without maintaining a pivot foot."

Disagree with the San Diego State part, however. They lost in a single possession game without one of their starters. They manhandled #9 Creighton by 32 points (using the net rankings). Won at #14 BYU. Beat #27 Iowa by 10. Won at #38 Utah State by 9. If I'm a 2 seed, I would love to be in their bracket. I'll admit that. But based on merit, I think they still deserve to be on the one line. One more loss would push them to a 2 seed.

That SDSU game still pisses me off. We were up by 9 at half, then some Flynn guy goes for 28 in the second half

with Illinois win Iowa moves up to the 2 seed. as it was explained to me that knows far more than I do about the BT seeding,
2-3-4 doesn't matter they still get the dbl bye. plus to win the BTT they or any other team has to beat who they play.

Thank you. No shot at Duke or their current team. Really like Carey and Tre. Really hope we can play you in tourney. Y’all win but it will bring back some Ufb memories. Good luck.

Borden and I have been at this off and on for five years. I just don’t know how it is not a travel. Hate the new rules.

I don't think indiana matches up well because of Illinois guards ability to beat Indiana's guards off the dribble. Just about every opposing coach has talked about how big and physical indiana is, so that part I don't think it's accurate. It doesn't really matter though because indiana has been terrible on the road.

Concedes to a rival. Damn shame.

You know they are. Don't be an arrogant doosh
They are not, and pretty much every Indiana fan feels the same way.

Purdue

MSU
OSU
Michigan

Wisconsin
Illinois
Iowa
Minnesota

Maryland (I would love this to become a real rivalry. Most of the games are pretty competitive and entertaining, plus they have a great home game atmosphere)

Nebraska
Northwestern
Penn St.
Rutgers

That's roughly the grouping of rivals.

IL needs to be in the second tier

You're holding the 80's in much too high regard. That was 30+ years ago, and there wasn't anything big in the 70's or 90's. It was a really intense period from 84-90 for sure.

I love how all the Big time programs of the BIG are your rivals. Lol

Here is Iowa's rivals:

Duke
Kentucky
UNC
Michigan St
Michigan
Wisconsin
Kansas.
Louisville

How does that game prove that there's any sort of rivalry? That loss meant us much to Indiana fans as a loss to anyone in the conference would have been.

That team also lost at Minnesota that year, which at the time I was more upset about than the Illinois game because of it's impact on the season.

You said there have been no big games since the 80s. This game was an instant classic.

Yawn, we get it, Indiana is a blue blood and the rest of us have nots would never understand. A lot of good that has done you the past 20 years.

That's not what I'm getting at. Purdue is a rival, every year. That game means more every year. The Illinois game just doesn't.

Michigan probably sees MSU and OSU as rivals. No matter the year, it's a big game. Wisconsin and Minnesota (and maybe Iowa) might be the same.
