***Official B1G In-Season Thread***

Ugly ugly ugly 2nd half. Definitely seemed rattled on their first road game. Wheeler being in foul trouble/fouling out really exposed Purdue’s roster tonight. Sasha was playing the 4 for a few plays for God’s sake. Free throws were a killer.

For the most part, aside from a few dumb fouls, I thought the defense did a really nice job. Purdue has to find a way to get Trevion Williams more involved and Trevion himself has to earn more PT when he’s on the court. I like that he’s a big man that can pass but that’s all he’s looking to do right now. Proctor is a legit contributor. Nojel was trash tonight but expect him to bounce back.

Thankfully it’s a long season & I’m glad Purdue is playing a tougher non-con instead of just beating up on cupcakes.

It’s going to be a long year for Purdue

Can’t have a only 2 capable shooters in the lineup at a time and not effectively feed the post.

Luckily for painter his teams get better as the year goes on. At this point I’m happy with making the tournament

What is up with Trevion trying to be all cute with this passing shit? He’s so talented offensively it’s disturbing how he isn’t more assertive on that end of the floor.

Nojel is Nojel...he is the exact same player that arrived. And it is nowhere near where his mother thinks

I’ve heard rumblings that’s she’s said she wants him to go to the NBA after this year

Don’t know the validity but if that’s the case she’s in for a rude awakening

I’m really not sure. I can’t even recall the last post move he made looking to score, & that’s what Purdue needs from him the most on nights like this.

You mean he isn’t a lottery pick?

But yeah tonight Nojel wasn’t Nojel. He made boneheaded plays, got himself in foul trouble (even if at least one call was dogshit), didn’t get any junk baskets, etc.

He looks bigger this year, like a forward. Shot still broke. Wonder if they should let the young guys run PG / initiate the offense. Proctor seems to have good slashing ability, and good footwork that allowed him a couple nice little floaters in the lane.

Think they’re missing cline and Edwards yet? Or is eastern and Sasha going to fill in the 3 pt shooting?

Eastern won’t. Sasha shot over 40% last year. Won’t be that high this year but I’m guessing he’ll be in the high 30’s.

And there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s a possible DPOY candidate who can do a lot of things but shooting isn’t one of them. He needs to stick to getting shots in the paint, setting up the offense, rebounding, and playing suffocating defense. That’s who he needs to be. He needs to stop trying to prove he can shoot jumpers.

I’m not remotely surprised by the early struggles, except for from the line. Free throws were the biggest reason we lost last night.

Last year’s team was 6-5 at one point. I don’t expect this team to be as good but they will improve. They just need to continue to work to find their offensive identity.

I’m still not sure Painter should’ve redshirted both Newman and Gillis but he sees them every day.

Its only fair to count the same amount of games.
After 2 games each, Purdue was at 40% and IU was at 32%. But I didn’t post it because I think it’s juvenile for this to be a thing.

Let’s revisit at season’s end.

I just like that it’s pretty clear this team won’t be as good from deep this year.

After the dumpster fire of a football season and now reality is setting in for the basketball team, it’s pretty fun to think back to all the shit Purdue posters were talking about football and basketball. LOL. So much fun.

Yeah the question is going to be can he keep that high percentage on higher volume? Clearly he’s a capable shooter.

Wouldn’t you be a bit cranky if you thought your football team was going to be better than Alabama only to have them such balls? Then to make things worse, your basketball team loses two of the first three not looking as good as you thought?

Don’t think dumpster fire is an accurate term. 4-6 with the injuries they’ve had is far from a dumpster fire. Dumpster fire would be 1 or 2 wins. Is it the season we had hoped for? Obviously not. But wasn’t a dumpster fire either.

It’s a dumpster fire compared to expectations, regardless of injuries. It’s not like the entire offense or defense got injured. Every team goes through injuries.

Just tired of the trolling. I like to discuss sports and sometimes with opposing fans.
Sure. Tired of the trolling when it doesn’t go your way. Very brave of you. Lol...

I’ll make sure I watch for your comments to Purdue fans about their trolling, too. Maybe I shouldnt hold my breath...

Some people had overly inflated expectations for sure.
