*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

And Trayce signed the paperwork before and just kept it quiet

Nice pickup for IU. Still think IU will need some better guards to maximize its potential. But nice get nonetheless.

I agree in general we need more guards, but Phinese and Durham have been pretty solid so far. I'm happy with both of them and Franklin in the fold for next year. If I were the staff, I'd focus on some top end guards and swing for the fences knowing we're playing with house money.

I really want to go troll the shit out of some of the guys on Peegs who have been overly pessimistic and negative about recruiting. Hell, there was a guy on the ITLR thread that said it was essentially all bad news. Lol. But, I'm refraining.
No, you're way off here, SNU. The commitment is less valuable to the program if the player doesn't announce it the way fans want.

Tough day for the Hoosiers, if you ask me.

Seriously! I hope he heard how ridiculous some fans were being and trolled us by not announcing during the early signing period.

I have made a couple comments their direction.

Who? Were MSU and IU ever really in that many battles?

Usually MSU is just pick-pocketing Purdue

Gary Harris and JJJ are two major recent ones.

I think it is also fair to say if Archie had been coach during the time of Dawson, IU would have been in the thick of that recruitment as well.

This was a real post made on our premium board about 5 hours before TJD announced his commitment. Just cracks me up.

"I’ll ring the sour bell to wake all you young liberal arts students up- the data to this minute doesn’t support CAM and staff are returning IU to anything. In the past few weeks since Marquette we have sucked. Trayce Jackson Davis envisions himself as a NBA player. Justin Smith is far less than he was last year. Just open your eyes folks- pray things improve now that we have numbers of healthy players back. There is a hypothesis that supports things will. But if TJD makes a call quickly as rumored, why would he come to IU?"

I didn't realize IU was even that heavily involved with JJJ. Thought it was Purdue, Maryland, and Georgetown.

What's up with Smith? Still no skills development?

He is struggling. Just very soft at the rim and the shot hasn't been great. I hope we will eventually come to and play with himself like last year.

I remember wanting him as a recruit, knowing how athletic he was (similar to Iverson) but couldn't shoot worth a lick. 4 years later with Iverson, and still in same boat. Definitely need an athlete or two but give me guys that can shoot. Tough with multiple non-shooters out there to get anything done.

I'm starting to think Iowa will be better then what everyone thought preseason. But, I think everyone said they should be good IF they get the defense worked out. I think everyone assumed that their offense was going to be good.
Congrats on TJD, Hoosiers.

MSU is now down to Stewart/Carey. Must land 1.
Trying to remember where I read it but yesterday a national analyst predicted Stewart to Washington and Carey to Duke. Might have been on the recruiting board.

We’ve heard Carey to Duke and Stewart to Washington. But it’s meant as desperate to either land or delay Trace’s decision.

Hrmm someone mentioned that earlier this month.

I predicted Michigan would be about a top 15-20 team this year. That’s writing a lot of checks?

And let’s not pretend like it matters how well Michigan does. Michigan had a way better season than I said they would last year and you guys still troll about their regular season and say my prediction last year of a sweet 16 caliber team was being a homer.
Dude, quit being so coy. I mean, c'mon.

Also, I never called your takes homer. If I did---I certainly don't remember.

You're acting like I was saying Michigan would be better than Duke and Kansas this year. That's not even close to the case. I was aware there were question marks but was confident Michigan was a top 15-20 team.

I hope you all get one of them. The BIG needs to have multiple teams consistently pull in top talent. I think currently, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, IU and Maryland are all capable of landing a top 5 talent. Maryland would probably be the biggest question mark right now because of uncertainty over how long Turgeon will be there. But, he's proven he can at least land top talent.

This is the most teams I can remember since the recruitment process started to be so heavily reported on.

This is going to be a homer comment, but I really think its true....I really believe that in order to be consistently considered a top conference who competes for national championships, the BIG needs for Indiana to start acting like blueblood again. Imo its amazing that the BIG hasn't suffered more from how Inept IUs been. If the Big 12 or SEC had its blueblood shit the bed fir over 20 years...both conferences would have been considered an afterthought most years. The only other conference that could handle this would have been the ACC.

I don't think most BIG fans realize how grateful they should be that Michigan State was able to step up the past 20 years.

Don't hate this one bit. Love it. Feel much better knowing it's official. Now on to Brooks Jr.
Huge. TJD is a bug we have been missing. Exciting to think of he, Hunter, Phinisee for the future. Add Brooks, and yippie...
