*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

He's gonna be a good one. Love him even more that he came from West Laffy.

Color me unsurprised.

BTW, he's not from West Lafayette. He's from Lafayette....technically a little burg south of Lafayette. But it's all irrelevant to me. I like my players the same whether they come from the Indiana, the Netherlands or Atascocita Texas. I'm just glad they can play.

Also, in celebration of All-Big Ten teams being selected in a couple days, I thought I'd dig these gems up.

I have sneaking suspicion Cline will be a 3rd teamer or at worst Honorable Mention.

Cline is not making an All Big Ten team.

Not a chance in hell...

You said he has "a good shot". That's not accurate at all. He averaged 4 ppg last season. He's a complimentary player. Those guys rarely make All-Big teams, so I think the better descriptor would be "he doesn't really have a shot, but could surprise everyone."

Cline is Ryne Smith. Nothing more. He's not even close to Mathias.

Ate what up? Borden, NC Trojan, & SNU were firmly planted in that camp. These were serious delusional thoughts members of your fan-base concocted in their minds. Not some elaborate troll.

It was a stab at another comparison at the time using only shooting %. The fact that you all couldn't see that is concerning.

Could have seen a lineup of Phinisee, Edwards, Cline, Eastern, Haarms. Eastern i still think would be fantastic in a Justin Smith type roll, running the baseline, taking other 4's off the dribble. Edwards playing off the ball. If anything he would have been another excellent guard option.
Could have, but Painter's offense has always worked better with a 4 who can shoot the three. Eastern definitely cannot.

BTW, what's up with @NC_Trojan10? I haven't seen him on here in a bit. Purdue is at 37% (58th nationally). IU is at 31.2% (315th nationally). I'm guessing he can go ahead and pay this bet if he wants. I'm not sure I see those numbers flipping.

I'm not talking career. Im talking about last season.

And the point was that IU is the better shooting TEAM. Purdue has some good shooters, but IU is better across the board.

$50 to the charity of your or my choice that Purdue will finish with a higher 3 point field goal percentage this year.

You down?

Sure, that works.

I made a couple of bad bets this year, but that is a bad bad bet.

I’m pretty sure I’m 6-0 against Indiana fans on board bets here.

I mean Borden, was here early in the season adamantly defending that IU was a "good shooting" team.

Yeah didn't understand any of those conversations. I guess some blind faith people who make improvements, but this was always going to be a bad shooting team.

Getting down on surfing the off season thread. Fun stuff in there.

After going back it was based off the Bourdoux talk and his 17ppg. Getting some quotes from the off season thread will post several when i'm done.

This little exchange about bourdoux

There isn’t a chance in hell he should be the four instead of Morgan. So, comparing a four to a five is dumb. Real dumb.

I’m not saying he should be in there over Morgan, but he’s above Fitzner and Green and Hunter and Smith regardless of position.

I think Boudreaux is going to be a 12 and 8 type of guy, playing some 4 and the backup 5. The thing that I really like about him is his ability to shoot the 3 ball from the 5 spot.

He's a 5 and 3 guy btw.

And to be fair both sides have some awful takes, me included. Yikes.

How is he wrong? Similar percentage. Cline just shoots more. That wasn't McRoberts role. However, Archie has mentioned he's worked with McRoberts on being more comfortable taking open shots. I think you'll see him take more shots this year when he's open that he passed on last year. But again, same percentage. How is he wrong?

Lol

I was wondering the same thing. Hey @NC_Trojan10 Where are you? We have a $500 bet on who has higher BTT seed. And...let’s see...checking notes here- yes Purdue did secure a higher seed.

The homeboard is starting to talk about all-conference teams. I think it'd be interesting to put together ballots from all the regulars ITT and tally the votes to see where things land.

I'd be happy to put it together if there's enough interest. Just a thought.

Five guys for first, second, and third teams
Five guys for all-defense
Five guys for all-freshman
POY, COY, FOY, 6th man

Man, that's a tough ask. If I want to put Cline on the 3rd team, I have to put McRoberts on 2nd team, right?

Still don't think he makes one.

Yeah, Boudreaux and Fitzner takes were bad across the board. Kudos to @hailtoyourvictor for trying to remind everyone of the Jaron Simmons debacle.

agree, hail knocked that one out of the park.

Boudreaux started off the year really well, and it wasn't only against the small schools: his best game of the year was against VT, and he had a good game at FSU. was averaging 11 and 6 at that point. then he fell off a cliff after that.
