*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

Can't wait to see AC vs Winston and Simpson matchups .

I felt AC was the best point guard in the conference entering this season. His numbers are merely on par with last year. We shall see if that is a function of a small sample size moving forward.

Like I said, didn't know how they were playing. But when I looked, it was 19 3's for UCD and 16 for IU.
UC's entire offense has been drive, kick out. IU's fed Morgan in the post...Langford in the post, and drives. Just two, totally different attacks. IU ended game on 28-3 run. We got some calls, for sure. But like most of these games, the better team eventually wins. Talent gap just to much.

As long as they win I honestly don't care what the score is right now. If they don't get their injured players back, it wont matter. I still think that they have just as much of a shot as anyone else to win the BIG once everyone gets healed up. If I had to bet I still say they will finish between 1st and 3rd this year. Assuming everyone is back for all BIG games.

Also can't wait to see the Terps play somebody with a pulse in Virginia this upcoming week.

Texas would beat Nova. Nova lost at home to Furman. Texas beat UNC.

Texas/Nova would be a coin flip. Nova hammered Ok State today (who is on par with Illinois).

Nova, Texas, UNC are all borderline top 25 teams. UCLA is good for getting their ass kicked in a future 8/9 game. MSU is in that 10-12 range correctly. Michigan is the darling of the conference and in the 5-9 range.

Zeke Nnaji to Zona.

Purdue fans, what now?
Don’t think anyone thought Purdue had a chance so doesn’t feel like a blow at all. Most likely just head into next year with a class of Thompson/Newman/Gillis and maybe pick up a transfer like they did with Boudreaux this last year.

Gillis going to be able to play?

Agree. Starters are playing a ton of minutes right now. No bench points tonight. Davis left the floor hurt(again). We looked really disinterested for 30 minutes. Then kicked into high gear. Cannot do that Tuesday.

Texas would beat Nova. I’m quite confident of that. Nova’s not great this year. UNC would also beat Nova.

Think you’re underrating every team in that Vegas tournament a bit. UCLA is talented (poorly coached albeit). UNC is still top 15, they just lost a close game to a hot and good Texas team. Texas is probably 20-25 range after this week.

Nova got hammered at home by UM and then lost to Furman. I don’t think they’re on par with UNC or Texas at this point.

Yeah it sounds like he’s going to come back late this season from what I’ve read.
Not what is being said around NC. He is out till February at the earliest and 95% chance he doesnt play this season. Purdue is already talking to him about redshirting his freshman year to get fully healthy.

I hope he comes back this year, because New Castle will have a legit chance at State with him.

Completely forgot about Gills.

Not a very highly touted class coming in. What’s the word on those guys?

This was the last thing I read:

Right now Mason and his doctors/PT people are shooting for a late January-early February return. 99% sure he won’t miss the entire season. This pretty much goes along with what has been previously reported.

No it’s not highly touted but they should all fit in well. Purdue also has a big (Emmanuel Dowuona) redshirting this season so he’ll technically be a man in this class as well.

Isaiah Thompson: PJ’s brother. Better athlete and a little lankier than P.J. Still a smaller guard at around 6 feet tall. Solid head on his shoulders, good three point shooter. Should be a solid 4 year player.

Brandon Newman: really excited about him. The ultimate 3 and D guy. Can guard multiple spots, great 3 point shooter. Should get a lot of PT from the time he walks onto campus.

Mason Gillis: combo forward similar to the Vince Edwards mold. Needs to get healthy but he can do a little of everything.

You came away from today thinking Indiana is even with Michigan (and Michigan State)?

Mmmk

I dont know if that was from your insiders or not, but I have a family member on the coaching staff. Last night at Thanksgiving it was February at the earliest with a 95% chance he doesnt come back this year.

Again, I hope he comes back and plays like he was pre injury, because New Castle would be really good.

No. You are under rating the Big Ten's darling (Michigan) in all of this discussion.

Michigan is so good that they should get an extra win for emasculating Villanova to the point where they viewed Furman as an athletic equal and in turn lost in overtime.

Texas won a coin flip over future NIT participant, Arkansas, on a neutral court two weeks ago. The Longhorns are ok, but no real threat to make the second weekend of the NCAA.

Apparently it was from a coach/trainer at New Castle but I cannot confirm. This was as of 8 days ago too FWIW.

Haha actually I've seen that post from my roommate who is a KHC member. FWIW, there are no trainers at NC that are also coaches. I hope I'm wrong though!

Its one game. A game where IU is minus Green, McRoberts, And Thompson. Not to mention Davis getting banged up(again). Durham just returning from a back issue. Rome with a busted nose. THis team is pretty banged up right now. Hence only 9 guys playing tonight. Starters are logging a ton of minutes. And tonight, it showed. Gotta get healthy.

Again---one game. A game where eventually IU turned it on, ending game on 28-3 run.

Just got to get healthy. And yes, IU at 100% is/can be on par with MSU and UM. You guys are good. But you're not that good.

Injury excuse doesn’t really work against a 1-5 UC Davis.

We can revisit this in about a month. IU's not healthy right now. Basically two starters out. Haven't been 100% all season. Tonight was ugly. Real ugly. And lets not act as if UM hasn't had some ugly moments.

100% healthy, IU can and will contend for the Big 10. Zero doubt.

Indiana looks like a borderline top 25 team. Michigan and MSU look like top 10 teams.

And somehow Borden will take that as a diss when it’s not.
Congrats on doing so in November. Not taking it that way at all. But you are acting as if MSU/UM are light years ahead. They are not. Better? Absolutely. But again, its November. We havent had a full squad one time this year. I agree 100% MSU and UM looked better right now. But not the extent as to where they are gonna run off and hide from the rest of the conference.

I can agree. We were bad tonight. IDK, maybe looking ahead to Duke. Who knows. But that wasnt the point. When you are playing 8 guys, and 5 of those are playing 35+ minutes a night. And doing so on such quick turn arounds---Well, it takes it toll. That was my point. Think these dudes are just fatigued.

Trust me I know. Injuries, even just depth injuries, have killed Maryland. Also I think you were definitely looking ahead to Duke.

No one said Michigan/MSU would "run off and hide" from the rest of the conference. I just think that those are clearly the two favorites at this point so putting Indiana on par with them is a bit homerish.

1. What five are playing 35+ minutes a night? I count 4.

2. If your starters could take care of business early in the game (instead of drailing to 1-5 UC Davis) they could get extra rest in the 2nd half. Ignas Brazdeikas played 19 minutes today. The difference is Michigan's starters got out to a 20 point lead in the 1st half and were up 33 with 10 minutes to play.
