Thompson was top 80 before reclassifying and redshirting.

I'm just surprised that @boiler1987 hasn't been here already talking about how good Williams is going to be and how he's just like Swanigan and will likely dominate the college basketball world next year. #futureisbright

Hyperbole much?

I've been impressed with what I've seen from Williams so far but conditioning/getting into ideal playing shape is still a work in progress. Does he possess some of what Swanigan had? Maybe a little, but I don't think he is or will be "just like Swanigan" because I don't think that's a realistic expectation for all but a handful of college basketball players in any given season. I don't expect Williams to have the consistent production every game like Biggie had. Not many in college basketball were as consistent as Biggie, especially his sophomore year. Am I excited about his future potential? Absolutely. Do I think he will be like Biggie/All-American? Nope, at least not right now.

Biggie was a unique and special talent. That's a tall task trying to come even remotely close to what he was able to do at Purdue.

Was he really though? Maybe for Purdue.

Unanimous Big Ten Player of the Year and an All-American? I'd say yeah he was by any objective measure. Don't think there's anything to debate there really.

Yeah for sure. Great, Great player, but he does not jump in my mind as all that unique. He just isn't someone that is going to jump in my mind as an all time great. Lack of winning doesn't help and lack of a pro career to this point.

Maybe unique was the wrong word but he was a special talent. There have been plenty of guys that were great college players who didn't make it in the league though.

GBI is kind of an entertaining read today.

Is it. I usually avoid the premium board for 24 hours after a loss. There is a very vocal minority that only shows up after losses and have all the answers. I never frequent the free board. It's hard to tell which are the Purdue fans and which are the IU fans disguised as Purdue fans trying to say stupid shit so Snu can apply it to the entire fanbase.

Nah. Y'all say enough stupid shit here. It's just funny to see some run back to the home board and post their true feelings because they know that type of shit would get railroaded here.

If we say enough stupid shit here, why are you always referencing the free board?

I remember the days some of you guys were talking about having four NBA players on your team last year. Lol.

Lol. Please elaborate. Any rational Purdue fan (and I think most of us here would fall under that category) knew that last year's team didn't have 4 NBA players on it. 2 maybe 3 at the most but I think most would've guessed a decent chance for both Edwards to be NBA guys but no on Thompson, Mathias, and Haas. There simply isn't a place in today's NBA for a guy like Haas.

Completely random stat alert. In Purdue's 4 road games, opponents have all shot well above their season average from the free throw line. They collectively shot 86.8% from the line against Purdue. They are collectively at 69.8% for the year.

I fully expect Ethan Happ to go 8-10 from the line Friday.

No, I got it. "Steve didn't make the NBA so he sucked in college like Swanigan"

I was just pointing out that Steve had real team accomplishments unlike Swanigan and will be known as a college legend. Where Swanigan has already been forgotten about.

Lol.

So where do you draw the line? Someone that was decent in college whose team went far in the tournament versus someone who had way better stats but his team didn't make a final four for example. Like a Tom Coverdale versus a Caleb Swanigan.

He was 2-2 last time out. Might need to bump that to 10-10.
