*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

Not bad for a kid that had to live in a dumpster town for his first 18 years. Gods county...much much better.

Can anyone tell me where Bloomington is on this map?

James was pretty underwhelming this year. IU fans loooove to mask reality with recruiting rankings & hyperbole, but fail to see that the only thing that matters is the guy on the sideline.

And at the end of the day Purdue’s class being ranked significantly higher than IU’s. Lol

Strange PU fans never say this when it comes to their BB program.

Discussing how we think Bell will pick Purdue over IU means we’re acting like we’re on Michigan or OSU’s level? Sound logic there.
Don’t be an idiot. Y’all act like the kid can’t pick Indiana. It’s the way y’all respond that make people post those comments. You’re not UM or OSU or Alabama. It’s Purdue which isn’t a good program, still better than IU, but let’s not act like the kid isn’t considering IU and couldn’t end up there. I dont Think it’s likely but let’s not act like you’re some top notch program that gets any kid you want.

Gillis may never play again.
Until I actually see anything from anyone credible I haven’t got a clue what the injury situation is so I’m not even going to guess on that one. But the last I read from anyone credible was that he should be good to go for next year.

Bone on bone on his third surgery to expect him to be any where near the player he was which is a sub 120 recruit is asking a lot.

Would love eat crow

Ummm....you do realize that the median age in Bloomington is around 23 years old, don't you? Congratulations, you just made the discovery that people in their early 20's don't have a lot of money.
Lot of interpretative dance grads sticking around after undergrad.

Reliable at all source or more he said/she said stuff? Haven’t seen anything on it on the Purdue board which one would think that’s where most of the speculation would occur.

Lulz. Obviously there’s a chance but I’d say it’s a slim one. It’s just not likely that he’d pick IU as it stands right now. I guess we’re a powerhouse program for thinking that.

The only thing i think that hurts IU is their depth at WR. At Purdue he'll easily be their 2nd target. At IU he'll have to work his way ahead of Westbrook, Fryfogle, Hale, Philyor, and Reese Taylor.
Never heard of a single one of those scrubs.

This post is underwhelming....even for you.

Seriously, what was even the point of posting this map? Comparing West Lafayette to Bloomington is like saying Compton is better then Beverly Hills, simply because Compton is talked about in a bunch of rap songs.

I can’t say this and mean it enough. Please keep him forever
I just think it’s silly how if Purdue goes to the elite 8 last season without Haas, the whole perception of Painter changes. One game. Seems nonsensical to me but maybe you would still hold that opinion even if he did reach the elite 8 without his starting center.

I mean it was a gold medal game loss, not winning either the big ten or big ten tournament and once again not advancing past the sweet 16

30 wins means nothing

Disagree strongly with that. Sure, more accolades would have been nice but it’s just hard for me to view last season as disappointing or a failure by Painter. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I have faith in Painter to put Purdue in a position to succeed again and make a run in the tourney.

But it wouldn't! The biggest problem with painter is recruiting. I think most people consider him a decent to good X and O coach. But, after how long he's been there , he's been incapable of consistantly bringing in top talent. Unless something crazy happens and he's able to bring in a great 2020 class...you all are looking at 2 or 3 years of really bad seasons.

Sure, because the site EVERYONE refers to in recruiting is rivals lol. All I ever hear about is rivals crystal ball picks.
You guys don't make fun of the crystal ball too? It's just lemmings following the most recent visit more often than not.

Exactly my point though. It takes one run to get that monkey off your back and not have that perception of “can’t win big” anymore.
I don't think the reason he hasn't had success in the tournament, is because he can't coach. Its because he flat out cant recruit.

He’s managed to recruit to 300+ wins and a couple of big ten championships and the last few classes haven’t really been all that different than the rest except for the 2007 class.

I mean not one meaningful game was won, there was not one accolade. We can agree to disagree.
