*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

It’s time for a lot on this board to face the hard truth that both Purdue and IU are mediocre as hell this season.

Well, i mean, he's averaging 19 shots a game.....9 three point attemts per game. So, there is thatSmokinSmile

With that being said----He's really good.
no shit, i pointed that out when everyone was saying there was no way. of course his volume is going to increase, he's going to play more and has basically no help around him.

I thought it would be a given he'd average what he is. No help. Has to take the shots he does. Not sure who disagreed . He's a great player. Fun as hell to watch.

lol at everyone telling me edwards wasnt going to score 23-25 ppg this year

I recall people saying that it’s not good for Purdue if they are relying on one player to scorer 23-25ppg and/or take 20 shots per game. I don’t think anyone knocked Edwards but rather said that if Edwards is relied on that much it’s probably not a good sign of other players stepping up.

IU will definitely be a tournament team. With Purdue I'm not so sure.
Both haven’t proven shit so far. Both can beat anyone at home, I have no doubt about that. Other than that they have had some less than stellar performances.

That is not true, man. At least that's not what was posted in the preseason thread

It was me and I still say he won’t Avg 25/game over the year. He’s at 25.5. I never imagined the rest of Purdue would be this bad.

It is early, we shall see. If I was a Purdue lfan I’d hope he doesn’t honestly.

I said he would average the same ppg as last year. He was told by the NBA teams that he needed to show he could facilitate. I assumed he would be getting other players on the team involved. Instead, he is just shot hunting. It's not his fault though. I expected there to be other quality scorers on the team. That's where I was wrong.

all you had to do was know he's a true scorer, his minutes will go up, his usage will go up, his shots will go up, his ppg will go up. it wasnt even just you, it was basically the whole board who couldnt believe i thought he could average that

EXACTLY!!!!

I don't remember anyone saying he couldn't do it. Actually, what was said was that if he dies....Purdue's going to be in trouble.

Thanks for pointing out how right we were.
Nah people were saying he couldn’t do it while referring to how few players in the history of the big ten have done it.

Huh? IU hasn't won by a large margin in most games, but they have I believe 5 top 50 wins so far. They are a missed bunny from having two true road wins against top 50 teams.

That isnt necessarily good for Purdue. It's awesome when he is as efficient as he was tonight, but if he shoots anywhere close to his season average %, Purdue loses that game by 15+.

I was the one who started that conversation and the general thought was that he could do it, but it's not going to be a great season for Purdue if he does.

Its not true that I thought it would be a given? IDK, to be honest. Just seems he likely would average 20+ a game. I mean, he's taking nearly 20 shots a game....9 three's a game. He has too.

And Purdue is like 4 points away from having 2 top 15 wins away from Mackey. Close only counts in horse-shoes and hand gernades.

Purdue is 6-4. What would rather have? A dude dropping 20 shots a game, averaging 23 points....Or be a more balanced team?

Congrats on being right????

True. IU does have four, Top 50 wins, though(via Kenpom). One on the road(PSU). Could pick up another come this Saturday(Butler). SO there is that.

I’m mainly just going off how the teams have played honestly. I think they would pretty much have the same records if the schedules were reversed at this point, truly believe that. I’m not knocking IU because Purdue hasn’t been any better but both look subpar to this point.

Meh....I don't think Indiana has looked great. But I do think they look a ton more balanced than Purdue. In other words, we don't need Morgan or Langford to score 40, to lose a close game, on the road..... If we get 40 from one of those, we are probably winning by 15-20, vs a team like Texas. I say this b/c I feel IU is more balanced. ANd has more than just one guy that can go get buckets.
