You don’t think Kofi would’ve made Illinois a point better versus Marquette or helped us beat the same Maryland team we had beaten by double digits a week or 2 prior? Weird.
I think they are overrated by current rankings, but that’s my opinion. Thats what they ARE ranked regardless. I should’ve added that studdly Michigan Team you lost to by 10+ at home😉
Which do you think of Frazier or XJ has a better chance of making an All-Big Team?
It’s college basketball. Upsets happen all the time. I know that Marquette is a better team than Cincy.
Lol you played them when they had guys out with Covid and they STILL gave you a game. Not sure how you lost to Maryland though. We had no trouble going to their place and wiping the floor with them.
I doubt either of them make the All Big Ten team. Other than Kofi, Plummer is really the only other guy that has a shot. Same with IU and TJD/Race.
You forgot “in my opinion”. Hunter Dickinson has better numbers than all 3.
I personally think Ivey is 1st team: 17/5/3---48% from floor---72% FT--43% from three.
More than one player from a team can be 1st team..

IMO, not a ton of difference between 1st/2nd teamers this year.
I didn’t say the 1st team could only contain 1 player from each team. Ayo and Kofi were both 1st team last year. Same with Cody and Oladipo.
The locks for 1st team are Davis, Murray, and Kofi. Liddell is a near lock as well. That leaves 1 spot for the rest of the guys you mentioned. I think it will come down to TJD, Dickinson, and Ivey. Edey should be in that group, but he gets overlooked all the time.
Marquette is better than Cincinnati yet only beat us by 1 without Kofi? Btw I said after that game Marquette would make the tourney and most thought it was laughable at the time.
Illinois has been one of the more injury plagued teams in the country and yet with a victory on Saturday, they’ll be a top 10 team.
Frazier will 100% make it over Plummer (is he better than Adam Miller yet? Lol) Stats don’t tell the whole story
He’s currently shooting 50% FG, 40% 3pt. TOs and defense is what is keeping him out of the rotation, but he’s proven offensively that he can be very effective at this level.
If TJD makes first team Murray is only one that makes sense to take off.
But most of that is due to a lack of team success, his numbers are ridiculous and I can’t fathom how bad that team would be without him.
Idk why you continue to try to use what happened in one game as proof of what would happen in another given completely different circumstances. It would be like me saying you have no chance against us on Saturday because you lost to Purdue at home and we beat them.
Plummer has proven to be better than Miller. I was wrong on that. You ready to admit Payne is exactly who I said he was all off-season?
He's shown moments......His problem is defense. I don't care if he was/has been great/good on offense, dude couldn't guard his shadow. He has the ahtletic ability, speed, and skills, to be a solid PG in this league. Confidence can be a killer, man.....I don't think he is, or ever was a 5*....He had 5* moments in HS, for sure. And against some really good comp. I just think leaving early, struggling under Miller, then getting buried by trnsfers under Woody, has hurt him more than his talent has.
I hope he stays. But I doubt he does. He played well vs MD.....had a nice game vs Cuse. Just not getting enough PT, and that's due to his inability to guard a fence.
I just see no way you keep a kid off the 1st team that is 5th in scoring, 3rd in rebounds, 1st in blocks and 5th in FG%...Of course that kid is TJD.
I agree on Murray. He's a stud, and certainly 1st team material. But man, there's a lot of dudes deserving...SOmeone is gonna get left off that for sure deserves to be 1st team.

And Payne’s defense has been really good. Hard to get much rhythm when you are max getting around 10 minutes a game. We will see what happens moving forward in a Kofi-less world, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel with him.

Shots are shots....And he played well in both overtimes vs Cuse. He didn't play mop up time vs MD---he was back-up to X due to Rob's injury, and played 11 minutes, with 5 points/1 assist.

Hutcherson’s back injury came back with a vengeance. Something of which I stipulated in any post I made about him all off-season.
Payne’s a backup center currently. Being behind Kofi doesn’t provide much opportunity. Though Underwood playing BBV over him versus Maryland/Michigan St is concerning. Like I said I’m still not giving up the dude, he shows flashes.

Though if it’s Murray, I’m sure he’ll be happy being a top 10 draft pick as a conciliation.
We have the number 1 offense in the country lol. Morton doesn’t need to take many shots. And he’s a significantly better all-around player than Lander. That’s not really saying much though.
There are some games you won that I thought you would have lost coming into the year. @Michigan, @MSU, @Wiscy. You still have a tough schedule upcoming and I expect you to lose some of those games as well.
So are you going to spend all off-season telling us how great Hutcherson is going to be again? Or are you finally going to write him off like everyone else.
Payne also got benched in the 2nd half vs Purdue after his thuggish display. Payne sucks. Assuming Kofi is leaving, you will be losing 5 of your top 6 players.

Payne is no where near the player I thought he’d be and apologized to the Purdue fans but to be fair Belo would’ve really helped his offense. His defense has been pretty solid

Obviously. I’m just trying to wrap my head around how Gillinois has Illinois’ floor at 5th given that current projected lineup. If Kofi is back that changes things. If not…. It would take 4 or 5 impact transfers.
We don’t play Wisconsin on the road this year, even if we did I think we’d win.
He had the original injury in his senior year of HS, then played 2 years, then had to sit out but was healthy, then got re-injured last year thus a redshirt. Again we seem to be doing fine with Williams/Grandison regardless.

Idk how you can still beat the “Morton isn’t good” drum. He’s Purdue’s most versatile player off the bench and can play 4 positions. He’s played solid D all year, can handle the ball, shooting 47% from three, and understands his role. He makes Purdue a better basketball team. There isn’t an objective argument that he’s played poorly this year/doesn’t deserve minutes.
You don’t play meaningful minutes and often close out games on a top 5 squad if you are a bad player.
Freshmen don’t typically have a big impact and you are counting on two of them to start?
