Those are good challenges for them, the type we need them to at least be passable against.RJ Davis play very similar to Carsen Edwards (obviously not as good). Black is basically the opposite of Sasha. Athletic driver.

And Michigan beat them by 12 allowing 76 points despite Buffalo shooting 5/28 from three. It seems as if UM may have some concerns on the defensive end sort of like Purdue does as well.I get your point but Buffalo is a solid team and has a decent chance of making the tournament. Three Man Wave predicted them to win the MAC.
Regardless I think people that watch 100+ college basketball games a year like we do can identify when a freshman looks capable and when he doesn’t.
Yeah, but they would have likely allowed 78 points if it had been Austin Davis getting those second-team minutes at the 5.And Michigan beat them by 12 allowing 76 points despite Buffalo shooting 5/28 from three. I see it as a negative, because Michigan cost $1k plus by not winning by at least 13.Is beating them 12 supposed to be a negative?
Haha I won big on that Buffalo late bucketI see it as a negative, because Michigan cost $1k plus by not winning by at least 13.

Yeah my takeaways from just the Buffalo game were that - similar to Purdue - they looked really talented, dangerous offensively, and certainly worthy of the top 10 ranking, but needed to gel defensively a bit. They didn't have a great answer for that 6'5 wing guy and that's where Franz would've come in handy. And Michigan beat them by 12 allowing 76 points despite Buffalo shooting 5/28 from three. Have said similar things about my concerns around Purdue defensively.
If you would have told me Buffalo would only lose @ UM by 12 and be in the game in the 2nd half while shooting 5/28 from three I would have said you’re crazy. Definitely not a plus that they let Buffalo hang around despite them shooting so poorly. Is beating them 12 supposed to be a negative?

Their guard play has definitely been questionable. But their frontcourt play has been better than I expected. Based on what he showed early, Liddell has a legit shot to win B1G POY. I thought he was 5th or 6th in the pecking order prior to season's start. And Key has improved nicely from prior year.In my opinion, OSU is the only team I feel like we know something about given where they were ranked pre season. A lot of teams have closer than expected games, but having back to back close games and the poor guard play leads me to believe they were overrated.
I didn’t say it was a bad win. Just not sure people are clamoring to completely change their preseason predictions based on it either which was your original statement.“Only by 12” lol. I’ll take a 12 point win over a team like Buffalo all day, and especially early in the season.

OkayI didn’t ask everyone to completely change their preseason rankings. I simply said that Houstan and Diabate look legit and wondered if anyone would flip their Purdue pick after seeing them so far. You’re just making a mountain of a rebuttal out of a molehill of a question.
Okay
Hail, stop it. I said okay, moving on.“I wonder if the people who picked Purdue to win the conference would adjust it now that we see Houstan and Diabate are legit”
Not sure how you turn that into trying to get people to completely change their preseason predictions over the Buffalo win
We were all expecting Johns and Jones to be better than they've been too, so I'm not sure what your point is. The teams that we all expected to look good have looked good. Nothing's changed for me.
Someone needs their daily attention.“We were all expecting Jones to be better the he’s been”
What are you talking about? You argued that he couldn’t replace Mike Smith. There’s receipts. I said he’s basically the same level of player as Mike Smith
8 points / 5 rebounds / 5 assists / 1.5 steals.
That’s right in line with what I thought he’d be and better then you thought he’d be if you legitimately thought he’d be worse than Smith.
Against Buffalo and Prairie View A&M?“We were all expecting Jones to be better the he’s been”

The best player at the g league combine sure got a lot of play for people that thought he was going to be average at best. Most thought he’d be better when considering the ceiling.
Who cares about your receipts? You wanted to know why people aren't gushing over Michigan. It's because your guards have been unimpressive.I have all the receipts one could ever need saying I expected him to be about Mike Smith level, which he has been so far. You thought he’d be worse.

Hail coming to conclusions & threatening “receipts” after 2 games against Buffalo and some Prairie school is peak Hail.
I really don't think I've ever seen someone so desperate for validation. We have some of those on the homeboard but Hail is at another level.Hail coming to conclusions & threatening “receipts” after 2 games against Buffalo and some Prairie school is peak Hail.
Okay, so you were implicitly gushing over Michigan, and you wondered if others were too.Not what I said at all. What I said was:
“I wonder if the people who picked Purdue to win the conference would adjust it now that we see Houstan and Diabate are legit”

In any event, no, we are not. You played Nebraska and a team that Nebraska would beat by 20. Why would draw different conclusions?
Weird doesn't make it less accurate. That’s a weird description of my statement about Houstan and Diabate.
For the record, did you think Jones would be better than Mike Smith?
Weird doesn't make it less accurate.
I've said many times how I felt about Jones and Smith. Go sleuth.
Almost 15 hours later and Hail is still going.
I think we sweep. I’ll be very excited if Illinois can win on the road this early without Kofi, regardless of how “bad” Marquette is perceived to be. If we can win comfortably and continue our excellent defense, I’ll start to become really optimistic about the season as a whole.Prediction tonight for the Big Ten games gents?

Say less. Thanks for you input. Always a welcome addition.
