last season the minute break down looked like this.
mpg opening up
Cook 31 mpg
Baer 19.1 mpg as the 6th man
Dailey 12.4 mpg
total 62.5 mpg up for grab.

the starters
Jordan 31.1 mpg
Moss 24.1 mpg
Garza 23.6 mpg
Wieskamp 27.7 mpg

off the bench
Kriener 13.8 mpg
Connor 18.6 mpg
walk on
Till 16 games 4.7 mpg
Ash 9 games 4.1 mpg
Baer [younger brother] 9 games 2.2 mpg
Hobbs 6 games 2.2 mpg

none of the starters are going to play 35 + mpg
also don't see the 2nd string getting over 20 mpg and will more that likely get 10-16 mpg.

but thanks for your input on how the mpg will be handled.
You had a 9 man rotation last season. Thanks for trying to understand. It's hard work adding.

Rumblings that Hausers to MSU is gaining steam? They must be potentially looking at paying their own way for a year or whatever, if 2 scholarships don't open up?

Would they even get any run? Maybe Joey as a backup?

Both would have to sit for a year, so for the season they would play (2020-21) they'd be behind Xavier Tillman (if he's still around) and whatever other bigs that would still be fighting for PT at the 4/5 spots (Bingham, Marble, Hall, Kithier).

Paying their own way? I’ll believe it when I see it.

That's only been rumored for the first year, depending on what scholarships MSU has available for next year. Right now, many assume Ward is gone so that'd be one scholarship available...

We'll see though. Could all be BS. Not sure any other than Ward is looking to move on at this point, unless one of the less developed bigs would feel his chances at playing time are even less

Yeah no way anyone is paying their own way. Izzo would kick someone off.

I just can’t see a them paying while sitting out a year. We heard for two years Cody Zeller was gonna to pay his own way to free up a scholarship.

9-10 who cares you ignore how many mpg that are opening up and the fact as the deeper Fran went into his bench the mpg went down

last year Fran had 3 players to play the 4-5 positions, this season Fran will have 2 at the 4 and 2 at the 5. when Garza picked up his 2nd and went to the bench there was nobody over 6'9 to take his place.

this fall 7'0 Nunge is the most likely the backup [if he's not the starting 5].

this season there are 2 people for each position, this will be the 1st season that Fran can say that.

Nunge is going to surpass Garza at the 5? Seems like we shouldn't have redshirted him as a soph if he's that good. Garza wasn't 100% for a stretch. I'm going to bet Nunge gets minutes at the 4 alongside either Garza or Ryan. I also don't think he's a true 7'. Close enough, I guess. What's more crucial to his development is bulk. Does NCAA test redshirts for steroids and other PEDs? Let's hope not and Jack took advantage.

Sounds like Ward and maybe TK.

They aren’t coming in without 2 spots. I think marble was signed because someone other than ward was already leaving.

I just can't see TK transferring. He already missed his last year of HS ball, and he seems to enjoy MSU. His mom loves MSU too, she is always posting pics online after the games etc.

I'd prefer to not even take the Hausers, unless someone (Ward + whoever) was already planning on leaving.

The last 10 games he only played 8-man rotations according to KenPom. He's not playing an 11-man rotation next season. You're overrating players, as per usual.

A 6'-9" center is not a liability in today's B10.

Unless his eyebrows weigh him down. Then you might have issues.

I am sure we will open league play in December with Maryland and @ Michigan State (last year MSU and @ Wisc in December and '17 we opened @Wisconsin and @Michigan State ). Thanks for the "soft starts"!

Take this with a giant grain of salt, but a guy who is somewhat close to the program told me Foster may transfer. Physically may transfer and rocket will probably take his minutes. And Terry next year.

I doubt TK does I think he’ll be a solid player for us down the road. He plays hard and just finds ways to get open a lot.

He definitely wouldn't get drafted high (or possibly at all)... but if it were really only about that, he still would've at least put his name in and got the feedback. I'm pretty sure he was coming back no matter what (unless we won the title this year).

I’m only joking. There just obviously wasn’t a true decision to be made in this situation.

Honestly I'm a little surprised he didn't go, just to get the feedback. He knows he needs to work on his athleticism / strength, but it never hurts to get the NBA feedback.

Nunge is up to 250 lbs as a 7'0, he went from 220-5 lbs while he RS'd. the common talk he has been working with his back to the basket, people in the local media have started to refer to Garza as a F. these 2 could/would be Fran's version of the twin towers that Lute had,.

both can shoot the 3, which Cook couldn't. when Nunge played he was 2nd on the team in blocks with 25, the leader of that team was Garza with 32,
Nunge also had 21 steals, he was also 5th in scoring on the team all this in 15.7 mpg. not bad for a FR, T-5th scoring, 91 rebound 56 defensive , 2nd in block and T-3rd in steals.

it won't matter what you call the position when both are the floor. Kriener will be the backup 5 and Pemsl will be the backup 4. 3 of those 4 all can shoot the 3. and all 4 have been starters in their careers

how am I over rating players?

MSU reportedly is reaching out to Kerry Blackshaw of VA Tech, who averaged 15/7.5.

Number 1 ranked grad transfer on he market. Would be huge.

Probably not going to land him though

TK? Kithier? Why would he leave or be processed?

Sparties help me out here. Why would Winston not even participate in the draft process to get feedback on his game and get a trial run in the combine before doing it for real a year from now? Makes zero sense to me. Is Izzo preventing him from doing it now?

Just seems like a disservice to the kid. That combine and process has helped many players improve their games dramatically for the following year. Why wouldnt Izzo tell him go do it, it will be a great experience and help you and our team next year?

Just seems like a bad decision to not use this resource to improve your game and better understand how the NBA scouts and GM view your game. Help me understand this.....

I don't think he will / would, but I guess you never know. As far as MSUs 5 freshman this year, I'd rank their play as:

Henry
Brown
Kithier
Loyer
Bingham

Who knows on this Hauser stuff. Neither can play next year, so would any bigs on the current team leave and go sit out at a new school instead of trying to earn their minutes next year? I see Rocket and Hall playing maybe 10-15 minutes each (more likely for Rocket) next season. Marble probably not much of a factor.

Bingham is the most likely to get passed over for PT if he can't put on weight / muscle. He has a ton of skill but at 6'11" and only 137lbs he just gets pushed around

Izzo doesn't prevent anyone from doing anything, contrary to (UM) popular belief. He tried to make Miles go to the nba after his freshman year but Miles wanted to return. He told Cash and Ward to go get feedback. Obviously Cash isn't interested.

I thought he shouldve went just for the feedback, but maybe he isn't ready / interested. His lack of NBA potential has nothing to do with skill, it's completely about his physical attributes. Plus I believe he wants to leave a legacy.

First BTPOY since who to return?

By thinking that you have 4 more guys that are good enough to be added to the current 8-man rotation. After Cook left, that leaves you with 7 from that rotation. Nunge will fill that roll. There aren't three more guys that will get significant minutes.
