They truly believe in him, I'm not gonna argue that, but yeah he's roped a .500 record with an OSU win into a nice payday. I think he owes a few percent to Hazzel for setting the bar so low.
Agreed. The proper move should have been letting Brohm walk to save a few mil & hire an unqualified defensive assistant who wears transition lenses. That’s how u cultivate a great football program.

Seems like we're paying him market value.

The irony here is that Archie Miller is in a much similar situation. Of course Brohm is recruiting way better than Purdue historically does, and he has overachieved with lesser talent. Meanwhile Archie is seriously below IU's historical win percentage despite recruiting well.

The situations couldn't be more different.

Good for Purdue to fend off Louisville's poaching.
Although I suspect that's the only serious threat Purdue has to face. I doubt Brohm is gonna cause too much of a damage in the West to attract top schools.

Could you imagine the raise he will get when he goes two games over .500 for a season?

Archie Miller is the 13th highest paid coach in the nation and he’s been a lot closer to finishing 13th in the big ten than 13th in the nation.

.530 > .500

Both are overpaid, but that is the college coaching profession.

Romeo has yet to sign with an agent. Some talk that he might stay for year two to improve on the current 14-20 range position.

People are really trying to compare Archie’s original contract at the 3rd most valuable program vs a guy getting a 50% raise for a .500 record at a school ranked 49th in sports revenue?

Fixed it for you. Is that the same list that has Purdue ranked as like the 12th most valuable program?

Wut? The two situations couldn't be further from each other.

No, just showing how dumb it is to base Brohm’s contract on the .500 record.

Thought he could sign with an agent and still come back? I’d still be surprised if he came back and probably would be a mistake from a financial standpoint.

Why would it be a mistake? You don't think he'd improve? The likelihood of him shooting in the 20% range from deep next year is unlikely considering the improvement we saw toward the end of the year. Not to mention he's getting his hand fixed.

Purdue fans getting nervous over a sophomore Romeo.

haha good bait attempt there sir.

In all seriousness, I could see why he could come back. Would still be surprised if it happens though. Would be fun to watch Eastern shut him down again though :)

No, like literally a finanacial mistake from wasting a year not making money, even if he marginally improves his draft spot.

Its a $4mil difference in from 20th to 10th for the first 3 years. I'm not sure what the back end of avg NBA players contract looks like. Also not sure of the difference between this year and next year. But i'm sure thats something being considered.
