Arizona lost in the first round after you ban bet SNU they would make the Final Four.
That was one of my upset locks (and Syracuse over MSU). Both helped me out in my bracket, and I bet moneyline on both.

This year my upset locks were laughably bad. Other than Murray St.

The Fort mentioned the usual Beard, Few, Pitino, Bennett, And Oates.
I don't know a ton about Few. Is there any indication on whether he's a lifer, or is entertaining offers?

Also, has Gregg Marshall's luster worn off? He was a hot name for a while.

I’m sure he’s in a second tier list. Saw Shaka’s name get brought up. I wouldn’t like that hire if I was a UM fan

I assumed Maryland would grab Gregg. They took Mark who did much less at Whichita State than Gregg.

Painter is now the second best coach in the Big Ten.
I know how much this group loves tiered rankings, so:

Tier 1 - Izzo
Tier 2 - Painter
Tier 3 - Holtmann, Hoiberg, Gard, Miller, Turgeon
Tier 4 - McCaffrey, Pitino, Underwood
Tier 5 - Pikiell, Chambers, Collins

One change, other than that, I agree at this point. Think Holtmann and Miller have potential to move up, but we'll need to see additional results to make that call. Hoiberg is a tough one to peg right now. He's a good coach, but he's at Nebraska. Not sure how high he can go there.

What has Gard done to deserve to be listed w/ Painter. I get the elite 8 but his track record without the majority of Bo recruits has been less than stellar especially in Big Ten play. No COY’s, no Conference titles.

I don't have a huge objection to Gard being on Tier 2, but I'm hesitant to put him there until he has another couple seasons of success with his own guys. Fair or not, I have a hard time giving him a bunch of credit for those first two years.

That's fair. For me, it's more about him just continuing the program that Bo left. I was curious to see if they dropped off or not, and it doesn't seem like they're going to do so. I think he's a really solid coach. He got them to the Elite 8, regardless of having Bo's players, that's still hard to do. He gets partial credit for that one. I gave him the benefit of the doubt at this point. If he doesn't produce over the next couple years, which I think he will, I can move him down.

Gard has 2 sweet 16's. No Elite eights. Should have 2 but we pissed down our legs twice. I have no problem with him being in tier 2 w/ painter or tier 3.

Gard has 0 zero conference titles, has 0 b1g tournament titles, and has never been to an elite eight. He's definitely not the same level of coach as painter.

Also Archie at best is a tier 4 coach. Couldn't even make the tournament with a roster loaded with 4 and 5 star talent.

Yeah, my bad. I thought he got one Elite Eight. Thanks for correcting.

Not sure i agree with this. They only had 3 that played in Justin Smith, Romeo and Rob Phinisee i believe? They fired Tom for a reason.
Their roster was loaded with 4 stars, and a consensus top 10 player in romeo. Archie missing the tournament this year was a horrible coaching job.

He choked this year without a doubt just don't think they were loaded with 4 and 5 stars like you said. I actually think Archie is a good coach after watching him at Dayton but this last year they looked lost most of the year when i watched them.

Crean made a final 4 at Marquette. Archie lucking into an elite 8 at Dayton really isn't that impressive to me.

I don't disagree with that but not sure what it was to do with the above statement.
You were referring to him as being a good coach from his Dayton coaching days. I was pointing out crean accomplished more while at Marquette yet still failed while at iu. I don't put much stock into what he accomplished at Dayton because to me none of it was very impressive.

It was more than just an elite 8 run. They always seemed to play hard and he won their conference a few times. They didn't do so well under Anthony Grant.

I just don't see him as being anything special. Lots of mid major coaches with better resumes failed once moving to the p5 level.

I see him as an upper middle level coach. He is young so hard to exactly pin him down but I don't think the past two years is his ceiling by any means.
