Losing to an 11 seed & only playing Purdue once is enough for me to conclude that Purdue is the better team.
Of course it is, you’re not the sharpest tool in the shed. Isn’t it funny that literally everyone disagrees with the Purdue fans here? But it is entertaining because you guys just keep playing that little brother card so hard. It’s hilarious.

Correct and Michigan State didn’t choke at home or on the road to a bad bad team like Purdue did

If you switch where MSU and Purdue played their single play game, their records likely flip flop. That's not to say MSU didn't earn their title because they certainly did, but single play and imblanaced schedules make it imperfect to use conference standings as the be all-end-all in determine who the better team is.

Case in point: Michigan and Nebraska. Was Nebraska better because they beat Michigan 1-0 at home and had the higher conference seed? No.

There’s a reason why Purdue got the 2 seed while MSU got a 3.
Yeah, it’s called strength of schedule. But as @klize17 pointee out, you had an opportunity to prove you’re better and you shit the bed. It’s not really hard to see it, either.

Jesus, you Purdue fans are a desperate bunch.

Nope I think Michigan is the better team. If Purdue doesn’t choke away a double digit lead at home or at Wisconsin or wins the BTT my thoughts change. Purdue had their chances and didn’t convert

So MSU is better than Purdue because MSU won the conference but Michigan is the best team despite taking 5th place in the conference?

You seem unnecessarily triggered by all this. Am I in your head?

Should have been better team. Answer to your Michigan Nebraska question.

I do think Michigan is currently playing the best basketball right now.

Based on BWesty logic Syracuse is better than UNC and UVA. They both beat Syracuse(twice), but got eliminated earlier in the tournament.
Based on circle jerk logic: MSU is better than Purdue because they beat Purdue at home & won the big ten by 1 game with an unbalanced schedule. This is fun!

No, arguing against pissed off MSU fans and envious little iu fans with nothing better to do

No, Michigan was the better team than Michigan and with a balanced schedule that would have been reflected better. They had the same record and only played once with Michigan having to play @Nebraska.

Imbalanced schedules suck and it blows my mind that you are here defending them as being flawless. I think you're just sticking to it to troll the Purdue guys?

Why can't it be a combination of regular season and postseason success? God forbid we consider entire body of work instead of putting 100% of the weight on imbalanced conference schedules.

this is why the BT was so much better in the 80's and 90's when it was a complete round robin.

I literally just said I'd base who I think is better based on entire body of work, not just the postseason and not just the conference regular season.

Have you not read where I have said if Purdue doesn’t cough up those regular season games or the BTT championship I think different?

You know Purdue’s total body of work

Purdue literally had every chance to show they were better and coughed up a 10 point lead at home lost at MSU and to an abysmal Wisconsin in the regular season. Another great chance in the BTT and lost that. At some point you have to win to say you are better.

Ok and so your going to base it off a single elimination tournament where they didn’t play the same team?
But I hear all year that the NCAA tournament is what it’s all about! It’s all that matters! NCAA tournament success in a season is the barometer.

But once Purdue outperforms MSU in the post-season, you make excuses like “it’s a single elimination tournament”. Get out of here with that bullshit.

Well at least Purdue fans are saying they think Purdue is better. You guys are saying that it's a fact that MSU is better because they won 1 more game in the conference regular season.

I mean, both fanbases are stating their opinions as fact here. Maybe I'm taking crazy pills but an outright championship and a head to head win holds more weight in the argument than "you just lost to an 11 seed!!!! and therefore we are better than you"...especially considering Purdue had multiple bad losses this season and MSU had none until tonight

This may be the dumbest, most pointless argument I've ever indulged in on this site.

Says someone is triggered but really is the triggered one

Do I look like a god damn MSU fan, ***git?

in a 1 n done format its really hard to say which team is better, a team can get hot or they can go ice cold. that is the difference in winning and losing.

I agree, but there isn’t a perfect solution to it.

I think a good solution would be balance out the schedule. I still think the 2012/2013 Indiana team was better than Michigan despite Michigan making the National Championship game.

But yeah, as of right now it's basically "my dad could beat your dad up"

They are going to 20 but you will never see 26.

Total team includes the coach and Michigan takes the advantage there. Both great teams though.

If losses really mattered, MSU would've been a 1 seed in this tournament. Purdue had the better schedule, better roster makeup, better post-season results. We can agree to disagree.
