No one can argue with his production........in the end that's all that matters.
Plays hard all the time, good/great rebounder, defender, passer.
I just don't care for his offense. He basically backs the defender down and down and down.....picks up his dribble.....and works off the pivot to get off a shot, sometimes using the shot fake. It works, it's very effective, just don't care for it. He has few offensive skills but does a lot with what he has.
He has impeccable footwork, and your team was really limited outside of him. I'm not sure why you dislike something you call "very effective". Without it, you'd have struggled a lot more.

“It works, it’s effective, but I just don’t like it.” Is one of the dumber posts I’ve read. That’s like the logic of a 5 year old.
Lol. I don't like watching college teams that go up and down and play no defense. It's effective......hell, you can win NCs that way......but I don't like it. You follow?

Not my team.....and I agree he has great footwork. I also think he plays smarter than anyone at the position I've seen in some time.

I guess. I’m the kind of guy that likes good players and winning, no matter what style that may come in. So I just can’t follow your logic here.
Agreed. Extremely fundamentally sounds, passes well, has great post moves, drives well, but isn't a great shooter. I guess the guy just likes shooters.

Shooting is fundamental to the game, although I never mentioned that. He can't shoot for whatever reason but credit him for becoming a great player despite his lack of it.

Fair enough. Just a style of play thing for me.
Generally like your posts on the home board, but just don't understand why someone wouldn't like his game. He has a ton of the qualities that we've come to appreciate as Purdue fans.

I've wondered if his below the rim, fundamental work just doesn't blow people away so they don't wanna give him credit. But it may just frustrate people enough that they don't like him.

I appreciate his game. He is Purdue-like with his effort and his blue collar game. As I said, I think he plays smarter than most, case in point when he pulled out the chair on Haas.
If he developed any kind of midrange shot, combined with the accompanying FT, he could be lights out. I truly don't understand why he hasn't. He usually ends up a few feet from the basket but still shoots a bad percentage.

You may be right with the frustration angle, sort of a Chris Kramer thing.

Watching Trae Young shooting terrible. He’s not playing any defense, not even lifting up his hands to look like he’s playing defense. But the announcers have made about 10 different excuses for him so far cause he’s so amazing.
BTW they just mentioned 9 of 10 Big 12 teams in NCAA tourney. But we get 4-5?

Thats what happens when you take care of business in the non conference.

Our conference did not for the most part. We had a disastrous non con.

As a side note, Oklahoma played the toughest schedule in the nation and still went 17-12 with Top 30 KenPom wins over TCU(twice), Kansas, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Wichita State.

Would be shocked if they are anywhere close to the bubble.

They were an 8 seed before tonight’s drubbing and now have lost 10 out of their last 13. If they lose at home to a bad Iowa State team I’d say they are on the bubble heading into the conference tournament. If they win Friday should still be good.

Oklahoma is 6-9 vs Tier 1
3-3 Tier 2

And 8-0 combined vs Tiers 3+4.
Theyve had the misfortune of playing half their games against Tier 1 opponents.

To put that into perspective, Ohio State is 15-1 vs Tiers 3+4 combined(while 3-5 vs Tier 1)

And Michigan State is 20-0 vs Tiers 3+4 combined while 3-3 vs Tier 1.

Oklahoma has double the tier 1 wins of both OSU and MSU and hasnt had the luxury of padding their win total with 15+ Tier 3+4 games.

SOS is a real thing that exists. Cant just herp derp look at win totals.

And if they win Friday no worries if they lose Friday could go from a 4 seed a few weeks ago to the bubble heading into their conference tournament

I think Oklahoma is for sure in regardless of what happens from here on out.

Too many of the things the committee has committed to using as criteria in their favor.

They actually have a very solid resume when you look at it through the lens of what the committee has publicly stated theyll use which is why they are in every single bracket on bracket matrix and a 8 seed.

UNC just got Ohio Stated wow what an ending

That was wild! This year anything can happen. Would not be shocked for a surprise team to get hot and win the B1G tourney either.
As far as the National Championship I’ll pick Purdue or MSU to win it all.
Edit, Jay Bilas on Golic and Wingo just took at long time to pick MSU.

That makes sense, but every time I see them they just don’t look good at all.

Picking a Big Ten team to win the tournament hasn't been a strong move in the past.

lol, have no idea, I just think Purdue and MSU are both good enough. Love my Buckeyes, and hope they make a run, but our guards are not consistent. Thankfully we have some top guards coming in next season.

Agree purdue and MSU are good enough to win it all. Wouldn’t be shocked if osu won a few games but they could just as easily lose right away. And like you said, the guard play is average at best.

I like Muhammad and Washington coming in next year but idk how ready they will be. I expect to add a transfer from juco or something like that. Hopefully a pg

Just checking out ticketmaster.com for tickets available and woof. Plenty of tickets available for the championship and the cost is $95.00 + fees for the balcony.

Wanna carpool to NYC? If we left yesterday, we could be there on time.

Its only one road (I-80) but 40 hours on the dot. I bet I could make it in 36 hours with a pack of these

That would be tuuuuurrrible.

There is absolutely nothing between Denver and Chicago. Besides windmills. And corn.

When I moved out here in October it was pretty brutal from Indy to about Wyoming. Then the drive from Wyoming to Salt Lake is pretty and then back to absolutely nothing from Salt Lake to Reno.

Be honest, do you already have these in your home? It looks like you might drive by Gil, so you could probably get a pack from him on your way.

Seriously, driving home from Denver was awful until Kansas City. I70/I80 makes Illinois seem scenic.

When I first moved out to Denver, I did the drive in February right after that huge blizzard that covered half the country.

Must have seen 40+ wrecks, most of them semi trucks. Saw at least a couple that were guaranteed fatalities (one flat-bed semi was in the ditch, and another one rear-ended him with the flat-bed end going straight through the cab of the 2nd semi). It was a pretty sketchy drive and certain spots in Iowa and Nebraska, where there are no trees / terrain to block the wind - the highway would go from 2 lanes to like 0.75 lane because of snow drifts.
