Can he shoot?
Shot 55% fromthe field. Has a nice mid-range shot. Can get to the rim. Very athletic. ust a soft finisher. But that will change as he puts on weight. Had he not had a ton of missed bunnies, or had them blocked, he probably would've shot nearly 70%. Very good shooter.

Kids going to be a realy pronlem for folks next year.

Decent...easily the thing he needs to work on most minus strength but he has been known to hit a few 16-17 footers on the baseline
I hink he's better than decent. SHot selection has hurt his percentage. Plus his inability to finish at the rim; very soft there. That will change as he gets sgtronger, and more experience. This kid is going to be really good.

You are the only one that posts about high school stats. I’d be embarrassed to be you man, talked mad shit in the off-season, and then your team proceeds to finish 12th in the Big Ten. Stop
the scoring is not what I LIKE it is his rebounding and shooting %'s at the stripe and from the field plus what he did against some of the best players in his class,

this is the true test of his abilities by competing against the best in the 2018 class on the AAU circuit and NBPA TOP 100 and the Nike top 100 camps.

as for this 17-18 season never expected JR PG Williams to quit, nor did I know that Baer would miss the 1st 6 games with a broken finger on his shooting hand.

then they were the multiple Concussion incurred by blow to their heads,

and I sure didn't expect 2 FR to be in the top 5 in scoring let alone steals, rebounds and blocks. if someone had told me that before the season I would have laughed them out of the room or msg board.

Would you trade Langford for Livers or Johns?

I don't understand this Langford flaming. No one said he should be Kobe out there. He shot 44% from 3 this year (39% during conf play) and averaged 3 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Those are all as good as Duncan Robinson, who was just named 6th man of the year.

Why is it that Langford has to be a lockdown defender, but other B1G wings don't? What does someone like Ryan Cline do better than Langford?

Prepare to be embarrassed then, because this is going to be you next season.

Well no one would make the mistake of calling Duncan Robinson a good starter. He lost his starting position to a true freshman.

I’m talking 3’s. If he can’t make 3’s I don’t know how much better than Iverson he’ll be.

Well, you just compared your starting 2-guard to Purdue's bench wing. But for comparison's sake, Cline shoots it better from 3 (41% in B1G) and has a better assist average as well as assist-to-turnover rate; and Cline has a better DRtg as well, though neither one of them are standouts at that end to this point.

For me, Langford is fine at what he is. He's probably as good of a fifth-option as you're going to find in the league. Can knock down jumpers and is a threat if defenses double in the post.

I used Cline because someone keeps dogging on MSU returning Langford, while not mentioning that Cline is probably starting for Purdue next season.

Langford is exactly what MSU needs from him this year offensively. He will take wide open 3s and hit them at a rate that justifies him taking them.

He bad at literally everything else that makes up basketball.

When Bridges and JJJ are gone next year and MSU cant afford to start two guys who do nothing well but shoot wide open 3s, they will be in trouble.

I dont know why this is even an argument - can you even name 2-3 (or even 1) in the conference next season who would trade their wings for Langford and McQuaid?
I mean, maybe Rutgers?

I’m literally multi quoting Matt every single time he says something about us being bad next year.

Let’s do a bet. I MSU finishes 7 or higher, I win, 8 or lower, you win.

Ah, that makes sense, then. Although, I don't think there's any Purdue fans expecting to compete for a conference title next year. Will definitely have a chance to see if Langford's relative lack of production is due to the wealth of talent around him the past two years or if he is what we've seen to this point and can be viewed as a pretty overrated recruit.

You feel Livers is clearly above Langford going into next year? I understand that they don't play the same position exactly.

Livers stats for the 12 games he started; 3.3ppg, 1.9rpg, 0.3apg to 0.7tpg, 36.8% from 3.

1. I didn't say that

2. Counting those averages is pretty lame. He played 2 minutes against Northwestern before leaving with injury and has been on limited the past couple games because of this injury.

I'm not sure MSU is competing for a title next year either, but I have a feeling they'll be better than 12th and out of the tournament.

If you want to spin this into a positive, then you can say its a testament to Ca$$ius avility that hes essentially always playing with one of those guys and still puts up the nunvers he does.

Hes one hell of a player.

Really not a part of his game. Only took 9 attempts-----hit 3. Maybe he develops that. I dunno. But he can get to the rim. Very athletic. Nice mid-range game. Handles the ball. He's going to be a really, really good player. And if he were to develop a 3 point shot? Oh, boy.

Really excited about this kid.

He attempted 10 shots per game in conf play. 2Nd behind only Bridges. Those looks will only get worse next year.

I wont be around next year to rub it in your fave when MSU misses the tournament.

Here’s my question for you:

Langford was a 5* rated as the 20th best player for his class. Do you think he’s lived up those expectations? I think it’s a solid no.

No one is saying he has. He also had a pretty bad injury before his FR season, which hindered his development. It’s not impossible for him to have a breakout year, but he has been pretty bad so far.

No, he's been streaky this year and looked better early season, but hasn't lived up to expectations.

I do think a 44% shooter from 3, that averages double digit scoring, a few rebounds and an assist or 2 per game is getting a little more flak than he probably deserves though. He needs to improve on a few things and should get better next year.

The good thing for him is that he also has 2 of the best returning players in the conference on his team next year. Both probably out-playing their rankings from 3 years ago.

@MileHighSpartan

I'm not positive Livers starts for us next year, though. Need to pick 3 wings from 4 possible options (Poole/Matthews/Livers/Brazdeikas). I see a few options (assuming Wagner returns).
