*Official* 2017-2018 B1G In-Season Thread

Just poking fun at his insistence that Mathias - who has better numbers across the board than MAAR - isn't all-conference worthy.

I think MAAR will end up being honorable mention; expect he and Matthews will split some votes.

MAAR leads the entire country in A:T ratio but somehow trails Mathias?

I just looked at conference numbers and am curious as to what your definition of across the board is?

As I said, I'd put him at around the 25th best player in-conference. JFC you guys have an inferiority complex.
If you don't want to keep talking about it why the fvck do you keep responding?

We are talking about conference awards, no? Try again.
Fair enough. In conference play, MAAR edges out Mathias on points, ATO, and 2-point percentage. Mathias has the edge in rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, three-point percentage, and free throw percentage.

I think we can all agree that this board deserves to watch Purdue lose in the round of 32.
Tying for the best postseason at Illinois since Self's recruits left Chambana.

MAAR has 3 blocks, Mathias 2. MAAR is also has a higher PER.

You mean after Self’s players left? They made the title game with Weber but that was with Self’s players.

You know the NCAA title game isn't in the round of 32 right?
Ah, my mistake. As 87 notes, I should have referenced Self's guys. Also, I'm just giving you a hard time. As I've mentioned before, there's plenty of guys who will get on that third-team/honorable mention range, and I think that's where Mathias will end up. Nothing more, nothing less.

Good catch.

Since 1980 you haven't made the final 4.

Yeah that sucks but Illinois going that long without making it past the second round is pretty bad too. Making Sweet 16’s at a place like Illinois shouldn’t be that difficult.

We really need to do something for the B1G tournament. Maybe set up a bracket or something where we all pick and accumulate points.

Looking at that bracket Im getting pretty pumped about this years tournament. I feel its as wide open as last years when we saw the top 3 seeds lose before the championship and saw an 8 seed win the thing.

Ethan Happ closed out the regular season as 9th in the nation in KenPoms player of the year race, well ahead of Miles Bridges and 2nd in the B1G only behind Keita Bates Diop.

Last part is interesting but virtually every conference winner has the easiest conf schedule, they don't have the play themselves.
According to KenPom, it’s only the 2nd time since 2011 (Wisky in 2015 was the other).

If the season ended today, Cassius Winston would have the 4th highest 3 point % in NCAA history over the course of a season. Shooting 54% from 3 the whole regular season.

To all of you upset about the investigation, it wasn’t us, the NCAA cleared it. We brought our findings to the NCAA and they cleared us. This wasn’t an internal decision.

I don't think anything will come of it because there is no way of knowing whether Hawkins was lying or Bridges' mom was lying. But it was an MSU investigation and the NCAA gave an opinion based on that investigation. That doesn't mean the NCAA won't still investigate.

When is the last time the NCAA did an investigation in 48 hours? It usually takes them months if not years to conduct one.

Thats why i said pretty close, last 4 years with the 14 team schedule the B1G winners csos was ranked:

2018-14th
2017-11th
2016-13th
2015-14th

You look at the entirety of Kenpom and 9 of the last 17 had the easiest, 11 of the 17 seasons they had the 1st or 2nd easiest, 1st, 2nd or 3rd easiest, 14 out of 17 years. I just find it hard to complain with the CSOS, its going to change year to year and can't even be predicted based on preseason predictions. The team who wins doesn't have to play the best team at all, that'll always help SOS.

Interested in a double or nothing for the BTT? You take your pick, I take Purdue. You win I send $50 to a charity.

So they cleared you all based on your own findings?
