NCAA comes back at Kansas guns blazin'

….and you're the bitch of this board. If the stuff that happens to you here daily went on in a heavyweight fight, they'd stop it. The difference is that you're too stupid to realize that after your 'charade' here was exposed, any shred of credibility you may have once had vanished and is never to return. You're nothing more than a mouthy little child here. You'd be better off at THR.
I notice I get you pretty damn triggered.

The offer that Self was aware of on behalf of KU.
I'm stupid. Spell it out for me.

You're saying you're aware of a monetary offer that was made to a recruit by Adidas (for Kansas), and Bill Self was aware of this?

I already spelled it out a bit earlier ITT.

What I said shouldn’t surprise anybody. He was a top 5 recruit. He was gonna get extra benefits no matter where he went.

We bought Randle but couldn’t seal the deal with Wiggins? Makes sense...

Now this is funny stuff.

Randle completed what was called “the greatest recruiting class ever,” and your argument in favor of Kentucky being clean is that Andrew Wiggins didn’t jump on board?

And by your logic, if Self is buying up every recruit possible in a landscape in which the other top schools aren’t cheating, why didn’t he get more guys like Wiggins and Jackson? He’s only landed a handful of top 5 recruits in 17 years at KU.

Anyone with sense knows that this stuff is incredibly prevalent and certainly goes on at every top school. Kudos to GE Nole for stepping up with some anecdotal evidence from his experience. I’m always surprised that we don’t see more of that here.

Of course, you homers will deny everything until the day you die, but don’t expect anyone else to buy it. My favorite is the A$hton flaunting fake bills line.

You’re telling me that we can buy Julius Randle but don’t have the cash to get Andrew Wiggins? As far as Hagans, I don’t have any idea if the cash was real/fake, or if it was his or someone else’s. But I will grant you the NCAA has been pretty busy on Lawrence, Kansas to take much of a look at any other school right now. And I havent denied anything. But what I will say is this; Kansas is in the shit right now and UK isn’t. So until something concrete comes out I’m just gonna run with that.

Kentucky and the handlers certainly can afford Wiggins. They probably just weren’t willing to go any higher than what Kansas was willing to do.

You can believe what you want but this is a situation where I know that Randle was gonna come to KU based on the offer until Kentucky went higher with theirs. It shouldn’t be shocking or surprising that kind of stuff happens.

So in other words.. he was with UK... then Adidas and KU cheated... and forced Nike to offer more money. got it.

Ten years ago I warned everybody. I’m amazed that it has taken so long as we all saw the danger. I know that whenever there was a recruit and a new car or a fight with a girlfriend or trouble with the law, mysterious transcripts, a player’s family living in town, all it would take was one slip. Just like me, I’m sure you had many nervous facepalm moments over the years.

I just didn’t know it would be HCBS who slipped up.

But you laughed at me and spit at me and mocked me. I was banned for years. But I’m not here to tell you that I told you so. I’m here to change the course of this Titanic. I want to shake your shoulders so hard that you wake up out of your fantasy world, the world where Self and you play the parts of hothead Sonny Corleone and dumb-as-a-rock Luca Brasi.

That’s where we’re heading right now.

The argument that the rest of the P5 schools will heed the call of Kansas and revolt against the NCAA is fantasy.

The argument that Adidas isn’t a booster is *********. Adidas meets the definition to a “T,” and what they actually did proves booster status beyond a reasonable doubt. They paid players tens of thousands of dollars! They paid the university hundreds of millions of dollars! They were embedded with the team, stayed at hotels next to the team, went to the same tournaments.

Most importantly, a senior Kansas compliance officer testified that Adidas was a booster in the criminal trial. Kansas had a responsibility to keep tabs on them, explain the rules, investigate what they were doing.

But nothing. Nothing was done.

The cherry on the top of this booster sundae was Bill Self himself. During Self’s interview with the NCAA, the University attorney (who also represents Self despite a possible conflict of interest) tried to rehabilitate Self’s earlier testimony which also established that Adidas was a booster. Here is the question and answer (please note how, with the last part of his question, Self’s attorney tried to influence the coach’s testimony, but Self was too damn thick to take the hint):

SELF’S ATTORNEY: “Coach, to your understanding what is Adidas’ general interest or purpose in connection with its contractual association with KU? Is that an interest in selling its product?

COACH SELF: “I think to – well I said — I thought I said this before, I think to promote the school’s programs….”

Suicide by NCAA? That is unspeakably dumb.

The argument that the NCAA has never gone after apparel companies as boosters is *********. Read the NOA. They have.

The argument that the NCAA is singling out Kansas is *********. Just look at the first paragraph of the NOA’s Introduction for God’s sake! It says that Kansas, “in taking its defiant posture in this case, is indifferent to how its alleged violations may have adversely impacted other NCAA institutions.” That’s all on Kansas. Kansas takes no responsibility at all. Think of Snoop Dog. SDS. Transcript issues. Infractions appeals. New cars and no questions. Think porn stars in the stands. Think of the university’s response. Think of Self’s personal tirades about the NCAA provided to the media.

Self made it personal.

If you are going to fight like a badger, you can never let your opponent catch you with your white underbelly open for attack.

The argument that the NCAA shouldn’t charge Kansas because it is going to allow student-athletes to gain financially next year is also *********. What will happen in the future has nothing to do with what has happened in the past. The NCAA alleges that Kansas gained an unfair competitive advantage in the past. It will be punished for that prior unfair competitive advantage.

Now I can argue with lickspittles all day, but you spat in my face and wouldn’t listen, even got me banned. Moreover, it wouldn’t help anybody. I can see that you will ignore evidence and ignore rules and ignore past practice.

But you are causing harm.

You cause harm because every time HCBS gets on the internet to read these comments, he gets a little chubby (Hi Bill!) because some brave couch consigliere says, “Screw the NCAA!”, or “Bill Self has brass balls.” Can’t you see that that’s why we are now facing basketball Armageddon? Because Bill Self told Kansas to fight tooth and nail, we are facing destruction. It is in the first paragraph of the Introduction!

So, I’m going to argue past you. I’m going to ignore you and speak directly to HCBS.

Coach Self,

I solve problems. Please. If I am curt with you, it’s because time is a factor. I need you to act fast to get outta this. If you do what I say, when I say it, we can clean up this ******* mess.

You have done a great job coaching the Jayhawks. You are a Hall of Fame coach. But you haven’t been a Hall of Fame leader. You think you’re John Gotti, but even Gotti was smart enough to only be taken down by a disgruntled colleague.

You were taken down because of a cellphone.

So, get past the Gotti thing. You’re no John Gotti. If you have Jayhawk in your blood, and I think you do, you will change your tactics ASAP. Bill, you need to think about the school and less about yourself. You were playing poker with the NCAA. You hinted that you had a big hand. They called your bluff.

You lost.

Here’s what you do to salvage the program. You call up the Chief NCAA Enforcement Officer and you request a private interview in his office. You take a plane to his city, a limo to his building, take the elevator up to his floor, let the nice lady at the desk know that you have an appointment, then ask her to let the NCAA Officer know to open his door and stand there at the end of the hall.

Then, you get down on your ******* knees and you knee-walk (don’t crawl on all fours, but knee-walk) while holding your hands in a posture of supplication all the way down the hall. Do that while bawling big ******* tears of contrition, then beg the NCAA not to kill the program.

You do that for us, for the school that got you into the Hall of Fame and paid you millions. You do it for the state and you do it for all of us fans.

And you do it now.

Yea---that sounds.......yeah.

...sounds like he 'gets' what so many other KU fans don't. 'Fighting the NCAA' in UNC-like fashion isn't gonna work this time. It feels more and more like the "2 major programs about to get hit with big time penalties" Dickie V is talking about is gonna be Kansas and Arizona.[/QUOTE

I’ve got no problem with that. Where’s Arizona’s NOA? What are they waiting for?

You lie! You always defended the UK side on this one.

I’ve had 2 instances ever where I had insider information. Not anything from a message board, just actual true legit inside info. He was supposed to be a Kansas lock about 2 days before he announced. Then it changed either the day before or the day of, can’t remember exactly, but the direct info I was told that Self got a phone call and then after said out loud that Kentucky came in with a better offer and there wasn’t anything he could do. Then Randle announced, several of the key insiders from KU said the exact thing I had heard so I knew what I had heard had some legitimacy to it. I remember asking my buddy if he knew anything about the bids or if he had any more info on it. That was much more interesting to me than losing Randle to a higher bid. I do recall all of you guys saying that was rubbish because some homeboard reporter guy said Randle committed like 8 months earlier. I’ll just never believe that a guy committed then kept silent for the entire season. I know he wanted Kentucky above all else but it is a business to get these kids signed. That’s gonna matter a whole lot more to some players than playing for their dream school.

The other inside info was during the Trae Hawk recruitment. The funniest part of that was I told people I had info on here, then I got like 7 PM’s from KU fans, several of them were lurkers I’d never seen before, so I told them all what I knew. Phog who posts on here was one of them. Then later that day Phog told people on the homeboard he had insider info from a trusted source and I about died LOL’ing.
who is Trae Hawk?

So let’s get this straight Kentucky buys players lol! We get away with it year in and year out, along with UNC and Duke! I mean Duke maybe paying players, never made any sense for Barrett, Williamson and Reddish, to attend same school! But right now zero proof.... That’s all that matters is facts not others opinions! So Duke is innocent and that’s all that matters. I also laugh that if we are buying players, why hasn’t Cal bought a decent big since Towns. We can’t pay more than Washington? Come on people.

Not doubting what you heard but I think it was Jason Whitlock who followed the entire recruiting of Julius randle. He went on Kentucky sports radio after the fact and had said he knew all along that Randall was going to Kentucky and it was a foregone conclusion for months. Not saying that there was not a better offer but your story does not make sense as it was not at the last minute. Self should have known he was out months ago.

Further, if UK were throwing money at people how do we miss out on Andrew Wiggins? Wiggins was a UK lean since he was a sophomore and a strong Nike prospect. However he ended up at an Adidas school? Maybe the rug doctor spent his entire budget on Wiggins?

He went on Kentucky sports radio after the fact and had said he knew all along that Randall was going to Kentucky and it was a foregone conclusion for months. Not saying that there was not a better offer but your story does not make sense as it was not at the last minute. Self should have known he was out months ago.

This is just a question. And not just for you. But really, all fans, of all schools. It is obvious money is be handed out. So, do you think a kid who is offered, lets says, $100K to play at School "X"----is gonna go and play at School "Y", for free? You see, I don't. I don't believe that for ONE MINUTE. You'll never convince me that a kid in need, where money is needed NOW, would turn down thousands, to go play somewhere else for free. Hell, even kids from families that don't need the money.

College basketball recruiting has become a bidding war. Been that way for a long, long time. Rather its direct payments, indirect payments....Jobs for mom and dad. I'd bet damn near 90% of highly sought recruits, have received $$$, or benefits of some kind to attend a said school. Or at least a school that is represented by shoe companies. And look, I don't have an issue with Adidas pushing a kid to an Adidas school. None. Zero. To me it becomes a problem when you start directing kids to specific schools.

Anyways....Just a thought to chew on.
