NBA No #1 Draft Pick, Who'd you Take?

I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t take Bagley second, or third. I’d take JJJ and Doncic over Bagley at this moment. Doncic not getting number 1 consideration is crazy, and JJJ is exactly what the NBA is looking for right now.

Trae Youngs numbers are superior to Steph Currys as a 21 year old junior against much tougher competition and far superior to Donovan Mitchells.

But let me guess, youd take Devonte Graham "because he wins" or some other lolcasualfan narrative?

Theres never been a 19 year old in the modern history of the draft lead the nation in points and assists as a true frosh. Not only is he leading the nation in assists, hes doing it on a team that went 11-20 and had a sub 100 offense last year without him.

He wouldve gone #1 last year easily. Lolcollege fans
Good call. Trae has been great

When Coach K has to go to a zone because you’re that bad defensively, you aren’t a top 5 pick. And he’s proven that.

Well said.

Meanwhile Luka was winning MVP against grown men in Europe.

Didn’t read any of them. I still wouldn’t take Trae. He will get you points and that’s about it. Last year’s run was a fluke
Another great take.

You’re right about last year being a fluke. If Trae doesn’t have a fluke injury to his ankle vs Milwaukee there’s a good chance we are talking about NBA champ Trae Young right now.

What about the other fluke injuries to Trae’s competition?

There’s a good chance they would’ve won the Milwaukee series? What?

nothing fluky about Giannis hyperextending his knee during an actual play. Trae stepping on a ref's shoe by the sidelines is the very definition of fluky.

And no one last year dealt with more injuries than Atlanta.

yes. Series was tied 1-1 and Hawks were up 3 points late in the 3rd when Trae stepped on the ref's foot. Trae tried to continue, but was clearly hurt and the Hawks lost the game by 10. Trae didn't play in games 4 or 5 and came back and played hobbled in game 6 at about 50%. Giannis got hurt in game 4 and didn't play in game 5.

If Trae doesn't hurt his ankle there's a good chance they are up 2-1 and then Giannis gets hurt in game 4 and doesn't play game 5. So yea, if Trae doesn't turn his ankle in a fluke there is a very good chance they beat Milwaukee if all else stays the same.

Lol. Milwaukee was the better team that series with or without Trae. Milwaukee was down 3 in the 3rd quarter with possession of the ball and you're gift wrapping that game to Atlanta.

Nothing I said is lol worthy. Fact is the series was 1-1 and Hawks were up 3 when Trae got hurt. And the game we won was a total blowout. Hardly crazy to think we could’ve won that game and the series if Trae didn’t get hurt, especially since Milwaukee would go on to lose Giannis for a couple games and the Hawks already beat them game 1 with Giannis.

And I didn’t say they were definitely going to win game 3 when Trae got hurt. I said they had a good chance of winning that game. Do you disagree they had a good chance of winning game 3 if Trae doesn’t get incapacitated? They were up 3 and at home vs a team they had already beaten convincingly once on the road.

Huh? What blowout before Trae went down?

Game 1:
Hawks 116
Bucks 113

Game 2:
Hawks 91
Bucks 125

Milwaukee had the ball down 3 in the 3rd when Trae got hurt.

Edit: and let’s be clear, no one said you’re crazy for thinking Atlanta could’ve won an NBA title. I just laughed at the idea that they had a “very good chance” to win the title. Atlanta was still series underdogs after being up 1-0.

I remembered that game 1 differently. Maybe it got close at the end, but I recall ATL being in control the whole game. And yes, they were still the heavy underdog after winning game 1 and got their ass kicked in game 2, but they were up 3 late in the 3rd at home in game 3 and Giannis was out for game 4 and 5. And I never said “very good chance”. I said “good chance”. Seems like you agree with me.

I think the bare minimum baseline for something having a “good chance” of happening is over 50%. No, I don’t believe that a team that was an underdog through the entirety of the ECF had a “good chance” of winning not only the series but the following one, too.

Without Giannis there for game 4 and 5? You’re kidding yourself. Damn right they had a good chance. Bucks fans are lucky that dumbass ref got his foot in Trae’s way. Could’ve been a whole different summer in Wisconsin.

I’d say you’re lucky Giannis got hurt but we still won games 6 and 7 without him.

How do you know Giannis still gets hurt in game 5 if Trae doesn’t get hurt in game 3?
