I’m guessing you haven’t looked at our recruiting class.
A couple of 4* recruits, you and everyone else, that's a bad class at the elite schools most years.
I’m guessing you haven’t looked at our recruiting class.
Are you including South Carolina? He'll leave for any blue blood I bet. Texas Tech ain't KU or UK or the Carolina schools.
Frank Martin just got put on notice! Are you including South Carolina?
Dude obviously doesn't need blue chips to kick ass. He is a chemistry coach, and I can't see blue chips being coached to take charges like Davide Moretti. I think they have the best team in CBB right now (56 wins and 6-1 NCAA record in last two years with two completely different teams), so why do they need better talent? I guess Shaka has "better talent", but Tech ran them out of the gym.
One thing he guarantees to do if he leaves is break up the magic he has right now, as Tech would immediately hire Mark Adams to replace him, and that defense that is befuddling the shit out of the rest of the basketball world stays right there, in Lubbock.
He ain't leaving to increase his talent level, money, administrative support, fanbase or facilities. He may want to do it somewhere else where someone else has done it a bunch of times already. Or he could stay around and kick all the blue bloods' asses, like he's about to do in the next 10 days. That might be more fulfilling to him.
3rd best behind the BT and ACC.Why would he leave tech tho?
1) he’s / they’re already in the best top to bottom/toughest league in the country in the big 12
2) Dallas and Houston produce great talent and both are close enough to Lubbock for mama - compete for and get the best local talent with Texas, Baylor, And A&M
3) tech will pay up or match whatever blue bloods offer. And oil prices will be up for a while - boosters can afford to pump in the cash
4) tech is purportedly building top 10 level facilities as we speak
To everyone clamoring that he "doesn't need this, already has that"....compare Bob Knight's success at Texas Tech to that at Indiana.
Game, set, match.

the BT had 11 out of 14 teams play in post season tournies, 8-NCAAT the most of any conference and 3 more in the NIT. Doesn't get much better than that.
We also got Knight on the tail end of his scandal at IU. Even so, he did fine.
It kills me that the WVU fan is the one in here talking shit. Our recruiting class will end up a good bit higher once Ramsey gets that 5th star and we’re already in great shape on the next class.
Recruiting won’t be an issue with Beard.
I appreciate the thought, but I’m happy with my current job.
I’d leave for Duke. That’s it.Thanks for popping in, Chris, but I’m not convinced.
If you want to compare, his last 6 seasons at IU are virtually identical to his career at Tech during the same span. Like a push. And considering that Bob did not inherit IU's program when he took over at Tech makes his run at Tech more impressive than his lackluster end of his IU career.
Game. Set. Draw.
I’d leave for Duke. That’s it.
how many hired guns is Beard bringing in this year?See 2018. Two of those seniors were not on our roster last year.
Well, if Beard wants to do “fine,” I guess he’ll stay. If he wants to make history, he’ll go.
TT loses 3 SR starters off a team that might lose Culver this summer to the NBA, hard to replace that much experience and production.
I said Duke, not UNCheaters. So the rumors of you lacking a soul are, in fact, true. What a shame.

He's making history right now.
- Back to back Elite 8 at Texas Tech
- First regular season Championship at Texas Tech
They just held Michigan to it's lowest first half point total and game total in a NCAA tournament game. Held a 2 seed to the lowest point total.

Out of 8 major contributors on last season's Elite 8 team we only returned 2. Lost 5 seniors including All-American Keenan Evans to graduation. In addition to that Fr Zhaire Smith who went 16th overall in the 1st Round of the NBA draft.
We are back in the Elite 8 this season.
Not what I’m saying, E’er. WHEN BOB TOOK OVER TECH, they were a terrible losing program. Bob immediately made them legit.
By your standard, because Rich Rod failed at UM means that WVU is a superior program? You believe that s—t?
You just mad that Beard will be dancing in your locker room for another 5 years....
He's making history right now.

you still had 3 SR's and next fall you only have 1 SR. not saying it can't be done but if you lose 3 SR's and your top scorer, things tend to go south in a hurry. He's making history right now.

Beilien of Michigan he just took Michigan to back to back FF's. that trumps back to back Elite 8's. also its not like he is getting top rated 4 or 5* players either. He’s the best coach this decade. Period.
Anyone that says anything differently, I’d LOVE to hear that argument.

like losing to Nova is a major flop. Michigan lost to Oregon in the 16-17 NCAATBack to back final fours?
Michigan wasn’t in the final four in 2017, and it got bounced in the sweet 16 by the same person we’re talking about here last night. So no.
Michigan beat an 11 seed to get to the natty game last year then got tossed around like a rag doll by Nova.
Sounds like a repeat of what people said last year. I love it!you still had 3 SR's and next fall you only have 1 SR. not saying it can't be done but if you lose 3 SR's and your top scorer, things tend to go south in a hurry.

We literally just did that this season. Last years elite 8 team lost 5 of its top 6 scorers.you still had 3 SR's and next fall you only have 1 SR. not saying it can't be done but if you lose 3 SR's and your top scorer, things tend to go south in a hurry.

and the SR's from the year prior were replaced by HIRED guns that were SR's.We literally just did that this season. Last years elite 8 team lost 5 of its top 6 scorers.
No offense, but I'm guessing he's got bigger goals than setting Texas Tech records.

not say they will fall that far but the odds are against them to repeat the success they have had the last 2 seasons,I don't know what his personal career goals are besides the team he's coaching winning. I don't know if its on his bucket list to coach at this or that blue blood or in the NBA. But you are wildly guessing.
He may very well leave and he may not. Will have to wait and see what he does.
I don't know how good will be next season. But we return our 2nd leading scorer and a few contributors for this year's team. Have some guys that haven't played a lot or at all but have been on the team learning etc. Plus have a pretty good class coming in.
I'm not saying we are going to win anything. But I'm not 100% certain we are going to fall flat on our faces.
Beard will literally do they same thing next year while also adding 5* and 4* freshman to the mix. Tech will be right back here next yearand the SR's from the year prior were replaced by HIRED guns that were SR's.
big difference between replacing out going SR's with transfer SR's sitting on the bench, don't see that this year though.
good luck in thinking of TT doing what they have the last 2 season loaded with SR's.
as I asked how many hired guns are on the team for next fall?
