Exhibition game results thread

"There are only 13 scholarships per roster. you were playing walk ons? What happened with your top 9 players?" @winin11

The walk-ons finished the game off. The top 9 were eating hot dogs and popcorn with a double digit lead.

Spaulding?

I think Rawlings is Uk's next game.
Spaulding is a division II school here in Louisville. Kentucky is playing the fighting little house on the prairie Mankato’s tomorrow

And according to @Kevin Bryan they have everybody back from last year’s division II team 😂

Spalding is D3, and not a good D3 team at that. Minny State is the reigning D2 natty champs. 😎

Minnie State lineup.

KU handled Washburn 84-53. Dickinson and Moore didn't play once again, but it looks like they're just being cautious.

Rylan Griffen had a nice KU debut. His shot looks great. He's the kind of player they were missing last year.

Mayo's shot looks great too, but he needs some work defensively.

I was surprised to see little David Coit (transfer from Northern Illinois) get the start. Even more surprised to see him make 5 three pointers and lead the team in scoring. Apparently he's been killing it in practice and has forced his way from depth piece to rotation guy.

Come on Bill, just do it,

Hunter
Storr
Griffen
Mayo
Coit

He'll never take Harris out of the starting lineup (and probably not KJ either), but I won't be surprised if Coit/Moore take a decent number of his minutes.

I would've agreed with you on Storr before seeing him in action, but I don't think he's earned it yet. If he can live up to the billing, this team should be pretty damn good.

Storr sucks. Selfish chucker who thinks he much better than he is. That's a terrible combination to have in a player.

He definitely hasn't looked like a star so far. Self's main problem with him is actually that he hasn't been aggressive enough.

I hated to lose Griffen, he is a high energy player and can hit the three from anywhere

Looks like Jaxon Robinson is going to be a monster this year.
He performed well in the BIG12 last year, but I need to see UK play legit competition before I can start to feel good about anything this year.

I love the offensive style and the outstanding shooting, but team defense and rebounding might be a problem, at least early.

If you don't like to play hard hat defense you can't play for Oats.
That's kind of the same for Self.

But at the same time, he's been missing a PG who can take it to the rim or do a step back 3 or hit a 3 in transition. So the benefits outweigh the costs. If he can turn him into a good defender then that's a bonus.

He's got the ability to be good on defense.

Harris had no problems hitting a bunch of crazy threes last year in the Champions classic. Ugh, dude was en fuego. Ugh.

Any good exhibition games on TV tonight? No more MLB 😢 and TNF is Texans v Jets blech.

They were all wide open threes because Kentucky decided to not guard him. Harris has always hit the open three at a solid clip.

If you work hard enough, you'll get open looks. UK wasn't the only team that left Harris open here and there.

But yeah, UK's defense was awful all year long. Seemed to get worse every game.

They begged him to shoot that night, and he's a career 39% shooter. Shouldn't be surprised if those go in.

Hell, leave me that wide open and I'll probably hit half of 'em.
