I don't consider Virginia to be a rival just like Maryland so in that way it is similar.

I also don't consider Duke a rival in the traditional sense of the word. Obviously, I want to beat them because they are the standard when it comes to college basketball. But I don't really have a hatred for their players (a few exceptions) or their fans (a few exceptions). I think VT is really UVA's only rival, although the ACC has tried to force Louisville onto us. I doubt Louisville sees us as a rival either.

If Duke fans had to choose one team to beat each year, it wouldn't be UVA. Same for UNC. Same for Louisville. I think VT would be the only one who would say UVA. I'm honestly not sure who I would say it would be for UVA. Losing to VT is intolerable so probably them.

Can a MD fan answer why Turgeon is not fired yet?

As I said earlier MD as a job is right behind the usual blue bloods-- actually I got this from Bilas and other coaches. Turgeon has been so mediocre in the NCAAs.

Lefty and Gary are HOF coaches...Turgeon is a dud.

I have to agree with most of the above, Duke is not a "rival" in the sense that there is vitriol or hate between the two programs. I would say after Tech, most UVA fans have more disdain for UNC. I, personally have no love for either. Although I do have respect for what Coach K has done at Duke, but I would be lying if I said I liked him though.

Eh, not really. Everyone hates Duke, and everyone gets worked up by smart people, and everyone knows the Crazies are famous, and everyone knows you have to include them in something about fans because... well... Duke, which is why the Crazies made the list. Just read the article:

Dare to stick around after a game and there’s a better-than-there-should-be chance you’ll be privy to a riot. Terps fans are an unreasonably nasty and biting collection of people drawn from the same geographic region as Eagles fans who feel it’s their sworn duty to act like complete assholes at any sporting event.

And you seem to be missing the point; I didn’t share the LIST. Not only did Maryland fans come in number one, but we have Maryland people writing about how it’s about time and that everyone else is pussies and all the rest.

I want to say some MD fans poured some alcohol on the parent of a Duke player a few years ago (Duhon's mom, maybe?). I might be confusing that with something else, but MD doesn't exactly have a reputation as a classy fanbase.

Edit: Just watched a clip of JJ talking about the antics of opposing fanbases (video was from his junior year). In addition to personal attacks and crude remarks about his sister, he said he also had to change his cellphone 5 times during his career. During one brief period he'd get 50-70 calls a night, mostly from Maryland fans.

I have been to every single venue in ACC, save Miami. The snottiest punks by far - University Hall, Cville. I was there the night they were chanting at Juan Dixon - Crack Head parents - 15 minutes later - Juan is signing autographs for them. He calmly explained to them - no, actually Heroin addicts, not crack. I was sitting 10 feet from these little punks.

I had to have a dude holding an infant three rows behind me ejected from U Hall - he was throwing peanut shells in my hoodie all night. Police escorted Dad out. With infant.

Cameron crazies read cheer sheets. Terp fans actually want blood. I wont deny that. True too about the Philly/NY aspect - some of our fans are pretty obnoxious.

Every single school worth a fuxx has them, fact. Ours just got more ink because of who we were playing - the 2 legends of East Coast college hoops Dean and Mike. We had/have the audacity to root against the hero's. Not a popular stance in the internet troll world - too bad, so sad.

Dook fans are such hilarious posers. Most have never been to Dook and will run away soon when Mike is done. The worst of bandwagon fans.

IMO, the Dook- MD games were the best rivalry games of this century.

I will again ask WTH is MD doing with Turgeon? He is awful in the postseason since Texas AM. Even Larry Brown thought he sucked. MD as a job is right behind the elites and deserves better. But these coaching hires go in cycles.
