Duke cancelling away games already

I have no idea who is riding with me, or what I am riding. I was just pointing out a slight error; I think you were saying K likely would be extra motivated because Duke hadn't been the regular season winner in a long time, but there is no regular season ACC winner... the only ACC winner is the tournament winner, and Duke has generally done fine with that.

That's all.

If you were actually trying to say that K would be extra motivated because Duke hadn't had the best regular season record in the ACC for a while... eh, that seems like a stretch? I can't imagine that a regular season win in one season or a regular season loss in another matters THAT much to a coach? But who knows? Could be?

There was no error. I think that maybe he would be extra motivated to win the regular season since he hadn't done it since 2010 or so. Maybe not though. Maybe he doesn't really 'go for it' as hard as you think except for the ACCT...or maybe he does and just has more trouble in the regular season than the tournament. I would be that K thinks that being the best team in the regular season is a little cooler than you do. But who knows? Maybe not. I always thought he was the sort of guy who really wanted to win every game.

Congrats though. You have Phil on your side so...

I just quoted Cal on that one. It was the Champions Classic and CBS Classic. Not the games that neither would agree to. You start showing a pulse and it will happen. IU is starting to get it right this year.
SHowing a pulse? In 2013 IU would have brought the #1 ranked team into Rupp(UK went to the NIT--. Not sure how much more of a pulse one needs?....In 2015, Indiana was a an NCAAT team....In 2016, IU won the B10...UK lost in the 2nd round, to...............In 2020, IU was 20-12, and an NCAAT lock....Both were awful in 2020-21.

"Showing a pulse: is just an asinine reasoning...

Bottom line this series isn't played is John wanted his way, and Tom wanted his way. Neither budged, and a great series, rivalry was ended. Dumb.

Hopefully one day cooler heads, and egos prevail. I will tell you this----Woodson won't go looking for the game---To my knowlwdge, he hasn't even mentioned it. Just picked up Kansas, and now I hear talk of a home/home with Cincy.

Woodson and Calipari are friends and there was an interview recently where it was brought up, but I agree on I don't think it's anything being considered at this point. You guys are playing some strong OOC teams now and UK is still doing the CC, Sports Classic, Big12 matchup/ etc. None of this has hurt either team, just the fans.

Agree....Its a game IMO that should be played every year. Great traditions....border rivals....13 combined National titles...

Hopefully this series gets going again. Its good for CBB.

For IU, you guys have been bad, no getting around it. One bad hire after another. You're trending in the right direction lol. I use to love the series. As Lurk said, there have been some discussions, although nothing to really get intrigued by. With the SEC expansion looming and more conference games, its going to be tough. I wouldn't mind if the NCAA lengthened the season by another month.

The ACC routinely does what the SEC tells them than to. Especially in football. We have used your conference for years to help the Sec in that regard

Just like Auburn does what Alabama says? Alabama might do Auburn like they did UAB and decide to shut you down.

I think just two road games. I'm sure the first home game they have all will be well.
Of course you don’t know for sure. When shitty threads explode. Happening all over college athletics honey. Even with AFAM U. Not just Duke.

To be fair, it sounded like most everyone on Duke had COVID.

Is it only when Duke has this happen that people start insisting there is some nefarious motive, or do people assume that every team that has to cancel a game for covid is actually just too scared to play road games or whatever it is?

Memphis and Louisville both canceled and ppl thought they were ducking. I think it's just low hanging fruit despite the team. It's still assumed UK ducked Texas last year.

Seems like we get scrutinized more than any other team. According to this article, 114 schools have had COVID pauses during the season. That's close to one-third of the country. I suppose some people are more cynical because they think K is trying to duck out of two road games. It goes with the narrative that Duke doesn't play road games.

On this board, especially Duke. But dont let cory hear you say it, he will vehemently deny his obsession with Duke.

And in 1,2, __________-. But your screen name.

They probably had a covid party so they could get it over with. Postponing/canceling the two toughest road games on their conference schedule is why they chose this timing.

And you might as well get it out of the way early in the season. Smart coaching. K is the GOAT.

COVID parties should be an annual tradition. Get it done after Christmas break, and enjoy the continuity.
