Duke cancelling away games already

If you're not living in fear, you've already died of covid. We've already forced players who don't need it to get vaccinated, now we're mass testing them searching for a single cycle out of 45 to come back positive. Covid is with us for the rest of our lives. It's far past time to come up with more logical guidelines. If not, they may as well just say fvck sporting events all together.

I think Duke, as they have from the beginning of this shitshow, has taken a very pussy approach. Just look at their home games. Coaches and players, no masks. Fans and staff, masks. Even though everyone is required to be vaccinated.

I'm on record as thinking forfeits are dumb so am just poking fun about that in regards to Duke. What seems clear here is that they have enough players to play but are choosing not to. My guess is because of who is actually positive and who isn't. They obviously aren't going to release that info though. According to the ACC rules if they say they have 7 players they would have to play or forfeit. So instead of saying they have 7 players they are saying they are cancelling out of an abundance of caution because that probably covers them in this PC world.

Actually no. Memphis and UofL are currently being run by clowns. So you'd be giving them too much credit to be coming up with ideas.

Duke is a bit of a weird situation, they shouldn't be losing to any ACC team unless Carter and Banchero are both out.

Cory probably can weigh in on that.

Yeah, they would have to be missing two of their top guys (some combo of Moore, Banchero, Griffin, etc...) to probably lose to anyone, though on the road can be tough and these first two games they are 'postponing due to an abundance of caution' are road games. My guess is they have stars who are positive but 7 players not positive but prefer not to play that way.

No one on their remaining schedule is ranked. Why risk it, they'd probably win anyway.
 
So, no contest is just that. I'll be straight games ahead/behind. No continuity or balance to schedules. More games won vs. winning %.

In Duke’s defense, this team could get winded and cramp up playing Virginia. It’s probably best they take a respiratory condition very seriously.

Pretty sure we had 3 guys out with cramps simultaneously on multiple occasions this season, but maybe I’m exaggerating in my mind. Definitely against Gonzaga.

There is no doubt that I don't know which Duke players cramp up during games the most. I don't think I've watched one Duke game all year so this would be pretty reasonable.
 
Sitting our best player bc of covid to go to wku and lose is a pretty good long con i guess.

K wants to shorten the season as much as possible. They're sitting in a good place for the brackets. A shortened season gives K the best opportunity to win the conference and a natty. I don't think they will win a natty but the opportunity is better. Plus playing less ACC teams keeps that SOS healthier. Keeps the chemistry mostly in tact.

Anyway K can dodge an L or keep in tack their seeding, he will. Bend the rules.... not good sportsmanship though.

Each team should report how many have covid. You can't disclose which player due to HIPAA, but you can dislose how many has it. Duke is keeping that to themselves.

I'm so ****ing sick of covid and the over protective responses. Don't be fat or old but if you are get the vaccine, otherwise stfu and quit testing for almighty omicron which is basically a cold.
