Boogie Ellis ask out of his NLI with Duke?

So the writer is wrong? Duke would have an extra scholarship even if Delaurier and Bolden return?

Edit: just saw the list.

If that’s accurate, then I’ll take it.

I honestly don’t see the Hampton family reaching out to k days after they excluded duke to say we want back in. If you have listened to his dad it’s almost like lavar ball lite. He won’t end up at Kentucky either. I think his best option is Kansas. He could easily start at Kentucky but I don’t see him there. The main reason duke was excluded was jones returning. Dude is the pg and will have the ball in his hands. Hampton wants to be the primary ball handler

I think he’d be dumb not to listen to K, even if it meant playing off the ball.

Hell, he kept Kentucky even with Hagans returning - even though I think UK is probably 3rd or 4th on that list.

but you agreed with it. idiot
Returning scholarship players
Jack White, Alex O'Connell, Jordan Goldwire, Tre Jones, Joey Baker, Justin Robinson
Signed player,
Vernon Carey Jr., Matthew Hurt Wendell Moore, Cassius Stanley, Boogie Ellis
Testing the draft but likely to return.
Marques Bolden, Javin DeLaurier

Maybe my math is wrong but that’s 13 players on scholarship for Dook next year.
Where was the “extra” scholarship for Hampton?

Even with DeLaurier and Bolden, there's still one open scholarship...

Sr (3): DeLaurier, Bolden, White
Jr (2): O'Connell, Goldwire
So (2): Jones, Baker
Fr (5): Carey, Hurt, Moore, Stanley, Ellis

That's 12 scholarships with Ellis... now it looks like there are 2 open scholarships.

FWIW, I don't think Duke will have much of chance with RJ Hampton. You don't eliminate a school, and then days later invite them back into the picture because a less-heralded recruit wants out of his LOI.
You left off Justin Robinson.

Justin Robinson, son of David Robinson, was a preferred walk-on. He's on scholarship only if Duke doesn't fill-out those 13 spots.

I can tell you this. I sure do not know the end of bench players for UNc, and do not care to.

Just goes to show the level of obsession you have with Duke.

I’m pretty sure I’d know if David Robinson’s son had been offered a scholarship to play for my team four years ago.

Pathetic.

And from the article, I read, "NBC Sports reports that Justin Robinson was the last newcomer to receive a scholarship because “Duke hadn’t reached the NCAA limit of 13 scholarships.”

Seriously, man. Like everybody already knows this. Robinson was not recruited. You don't offer a 4-year guarantee to preferred walk-ons. Duke was watching RJ Hampton play in the EYBL games just last week. If RJ tells you he's interested in you, K isn't going to say, "Gee, RJ. I'm sorry, but we have this standing agreement with Justin Robinson, where we told him he'd be on scholarship for the duration of his time at Duke." I'm pretty sure his father can afford the tuition payments for one year. No coach would ever stop recruiting a top 5 HS kid because of a scholarship limit - whether all 13 guys are recruited or not. Don't be an idiot.

RJ Hampton already cut Duke. Strongly doubt it.

I bet he could change his mind.

AGAIN ... this is where I got my information.

Then why are people saying that Duke withdrew from the recruitment due to having 0 scholarships to give?
Who is saying this? Sounds like fake news.
Duke fans are probably just saying that to make it look like he really wanted to go there. Fans do that crap all the time.
Huh? Hampton wasn't going to be challenged for PT by Ellis regardless. Remember, Duke was recruiting Hampton well after Ellis committed. This has to do with Tre returning if anything at all. It does suck losing a guy who was likely going to be a multi year contributor.

He only receives a scholarship if one is available. See the 2016-2017 as an example of when he didn't receive one, even though he did the year before.

https://www.dukechronicle.com/artic...-for-2017-18-season-gets-swarmed-by-teammates

"Robinson earned the 13th scholarship on Krzyzewski’s roster this season, according to 247Sports' Adam Rowe. He had also earned a scholarship for his redshirt 2015-16 season after joining the squad as a preferred walk-on. The son of NBA legend David Robinson didn't receivea scholarship last season to make room on the roster for Marques Bolden, but welcomed the opportunity this year."

He is a preferred walk-on. Hasn't that been explained to you ITT? You cite a 2015 article and an article that says he played last year on a scholarship. You do know that scholarships are yearly, not 4 years, right?
That article you quoted was from April 23 2019.
I’m just going by what the damn article said.
I’ll tell you what, sign who want, give scholarships to who you want & UNC will still beat Dook’s ass.

You obviously didn't read the article. Go find someone who can read and dumb it down for you to understand what you are looking at. Obviously the pictures didn't tell the story.

Depends how far back you go.

If you go back 10 years? Duke is winning the head-to-head match
20 years? Duke
30 years? Duke
40 years? Duke

You have to go all the way back to the 70's before you can claim UNC having a lead over Duke in the head-to-head series. So congrats, I guess.

We go back all the way meaning every game played, what’s the head to head record?

We go back all the way meaning every game played.

And that's fine. I'll give you that. But his tone seemed to indicate he was relishing the last two years - like it was an annual occurrence. It's not like this has been a lopsided series. UNC has had the upper-hand recently, winning 4 of the last 6. Before 2018, Duke had won 13 of the last 18. Recent memory still favors Duke. But I'll give you guys the historical advantage.

We can count all time wins, titles, head to head wins. I guess you can “Time frame” if you want.

I hear you but I’m a all or nothing guy. Picking a time frame to support your argument is weak IMO.

Says the guy who didn’t know of Justin Robinson’s existence. RollLaugh
You guys have been proven wrong over and over. Have fun thinking this is anything more than Ellis not wanting to compete with two other guys for PT now that Stanley has committed. When Hampton commits to Memphis, what will the new theory be?
