Blue blood qualifications

Not saying that at all. Just staring a fact. Only two of Tenn national titles are recognized by any major poll. That's a fact. People can claim all They want. Shit UK claims a title in football.
Indiana is nowhere near Duke or UNC? Except for IU has same amount of titles as Duke. One less than UNC. Three less tournament appearances than Duke. Four less FF's. And this is after sucking for 30 years. Your right. Not even close.
Funny though...I notice you haven't mentioned Kansas.
Have a good night schooner. I'll give you an 8. Good, solid work.

Yeah, but it took IU more coaches to do it. Duke did it with just one.

Ok. But, but....We have two coaches, with two or more titles. So I mean, that makes us super-duper ...:p
Did I ever tell you I used to live in Seymour. Wh My mom's childhood friend married a Hoosier and they lived in the Seymour/North Vernon area. I went to 1st and 2nd grade in Jackson Co. Mom put me in kindergarden at age 3. When we moved to Indiana, they said a 4 year old couldn't attend 1st grade. I took a knee for a year due to that.

Really? Seymour is about 20 miles from me. And are sure you Don t mean " North Vernon"? Mt. Vernon is close to Evansville; other side of the state.
But that's cool. Love Seymour. Wife and I go to the Wildlife Reserve there.

Yeah, North Vernon. It's been a while SmokinSmile
I know you and Bert have talked and he talked highly of you while in his living room. Sometime we should talk.

I always took notice to you for not just UK fan bashing, but the fact I know where Borden, IN is.

Spending next week in Nashville, and going to try and make it up to Bert. Maybe if you want you should come down. Up to @Bert Higginbotha of course.

Shouldn't get involved but, can;t help myself.

Who was the last coach from IU who left for greener pastures? CBB onlyWinking

Everett Dean, IU's forgotten 3rd HoF coach.

He left for Stanford in 1938, which paved the way for Branch to win '40 title. Dean then coached Stanford to the '44 title so it worked out for everybody.

Can't blame the guy for wanting to live in Palo Alto, and I doubt anyone trolled IU fans about Stanford being a better job.

Thought maybe you meant North Vernon. I like Bert. I know he catches a ton of shit, but he's a really nice dude; very smart. Hell I'll talk to the wife. She's been wanting to go on a trip. And I have nothing on tap for this weekend. Just might do that. Plus, you'd be a witness to the fact that I actually so root for UK. Wife will tell ya that.
Gonna jot down your number as well.

Well, we weren't a blue blood yet. :D So that doesn't count.

Crazy thing. This thread got me thinking. In 1976, as a 3 year old, my papa took me to an IU game. Of course I do not remember this. My first game I recall was during the '81 season. Played Notre Dame. So to me my first games were during national title years. Went a lot after that. Went again with pops in 1987. Won the title again. And i was like, "damn". Which leads to this:
Never in my life did I think that 30 years later, IU would still be at "5". Crazy.

National title games? I'm not knocking that. I'm talking about the countless 2nd round or SW16 exits to directional schools. The 34-1 team. Lost in SW 16. 35-4 lost in 2nd round.
And so forth, and so forth. So not only is there the Final Four failures. But there's the countless early exit as 1 or 2 seed. Lots of disappointment there bub.
Yep, there's plenty to say about IU: We've sucked for 25 years. Sans a run here or there. You'd think a program as powerful as Kansas is could've won a couple of titles in that time frame. Shit UCONN damn near won more titles from 1999-2014, then you guys have in 200 years. Oh well. Some folks are ok with being the bride's maid.

Rock CHOKE Jayhawk!!!!

My point was that when looking at the history as a whole, all that can be criticized is the record in title games. If that 3-6 were 6-3, no one could criticize a thing. Reverse the outcomes of a few of Indiana's titles, meanwhile, and they're completely out of the conversation.

Lot more parity now than 40+ years ago. Hence why you see a lot of first and second round losses on K's resume these days. And why you'll never see another UCLA type run.

Perception doesn't quite meet reality in terms of the chokes. KU's had about 5 major ones in the last 30+ years. Sure, they also had some major disappointments like Arizona in 97. Not exactly a massive choke to lose to the eventual champ though.

Interesting that they're still #1 (or maybe 2 now) in tourney wins this millennium despite getting Bucknelled, Bradleyed, etc, eh?

Yeah, I don't think "blueblood" was a thing then. Seems like Vitale coined the term in the 80's but I could be wrong.
Thanks to this post I found out "blue blood" is actually in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

I don't really count 1997. Raef was injured as was another player. That was a really good team.

'81 was the first year I remember watching games too. My first game in Bloomington wasn't until '90 though, when I was in college (Cheaney/Grahams/Reynolds freshman year). They played Northwestern and I sat in the second row of the 2nd level. Those seats suck. First game I ever saw them play in person was vs Boston College in the '83 Hoosier Classic in Indy (Alford's freshman year). Then saw them in the first 2 rounds of the tournament in '87 at the Hoosier Dome against Fairfield and Auburn.

Can't believe it's been 30 years either. Here's another useless nugget of information that might cheer ya up, though:

Dean's 2nd year - Won IU's first conf title
McCracken's 2nd year - won NC
Knight's 2nd year - went to FF
Davis' 2nd year - Runner Up
Archie's 2nd year - ??

I really think we've got the right guy. I think this is going to be a really good year or us. And it ain't gonna be just this year. Especially if we land Brooks and TJD.

My man. Hey, you know I love me some Kansas. But dude...Ya'll need to pit baracus back in the basement. He's embarrassing your fam base.
Every village has its troll. Kansas is no different.

I just scroll through the BS and find a friendly face. After more than a decade on rivals, it has become easy to navigate.

Predictably taken out of context.

Or did your attention span prevent you from reading the next sentence?

It’s even worse. “Double Kansas’s title total and take titles away from Indiana”. It’s honestly one of the dumbest things said on here. You are spiraling out of control. I tried to warn you about continuing to post, you are on the edge of being permanently labeled a potato.

Wait..you're being serious? No comprende?

It ain't rocket science.
