Which is also when the tournament expanded to 32 teams.

Each category is weighted differently, but the criteria I looked at was wins, winning %, years in final AP poll, Conf. Titles, Conf. Tourney Titles, NCAA Appearances, NCAA Wins, Sweet 16's, Elite 8's, Final Fours, NC's.

I include all vacated wins because they happened. Fvck the NCAA.

Took a while to do, so only did the 11 teams that have won at least 2 titles and then Gonzaga and Arizona. I can do more if you want later, but unlikely they would crack the top 10.

1. North Carolina (0.915)
2. Duke (0.871)
3. Kentucky (0.843)
4. Kansas (0.788)
5. Connecticut (0.681)
6. Louisville (0.650)
7. UCLA (0.575)
8. Michigan State (0.553)
9. Villanova (0.534)
10. Arizona (.524)
11. Indiana (0.510)
12. Gonzaga (0.471)
13. Florida (0.419)

I weighted NC's pretty heavy, but UConn still fell pretty far below the 4 blue bloods. NC's are pretty much the only category they are good at.
Of the 13 they are 9th win wins and winning %, 10th in AP, 12th in conf, 7th in conf tourney, 12th in appearances, 7th in T-Wins, 9th in 16's, 7th in 8's, 8th in FF's, 1st in titles

I would say they are not a blue blood, but definitely a great dynasty. Probably the second best dynasty in the history of the sport, behind Wooden's UCLA teams.

Self is 11-2 in the Sweet Sixteen, but 4-7 in the Elite Eight.
Cal is 6-6 in the Elite Eight, but only has 1 title out of his 6 Final Fours.

Coach K was 13-4 in the Elite Eight
He made the Final Four 36% of his tourney appearances.

UConn is 12-9 in Sweet Sixteen, 7-5 in the Elite Eight, and 12-1 in FF/NC games.
