Pretty easy for me. I have to pull teeth to get folks around here to talk about sports.

All-time friends, I'm probably not close to the top.

Without a doubt. And I’m not even majorly passionate about it. It’s getting harder to even talk basketball here.

Not really sure what’s happened here . . . There are fans of entire schools that have just disappeared (“where have all the Duke fans gone?”), and it’s not even just them. There’s the Big 10 thread, but it’s only if you want just a diet of that conference. Very little of just general CBB discussed anymore. Good old-fashioned sh1t talking is virtually nonexistent save for a couple of heroes

We still have Aubrun fans.

I mean, my interest waned a bit due to the pandemic last year, but it’s recovering now. But for entire fanbases to just say “I’ve posted for a few years on the board, but TODAY IS THE DAY I just move on and disappear!” seems a little unstable to me.

It takes a man's man to post during a 9-16 season. I don't want to call out manhood and bandwagon tendencies, and maybe a little of still sipping on mothers milk but come on.

UK is supposed to be the worst fanbase ever, but we're still here.

Never left. I found what would make me feel better as getting as raped last season was to just talking it out and convicnce myself I'm going to get better. Last year sucked.

I used to be here every day because I loved the interaction, but I miss a day here and there due to just the loss of fans and slow threads. Nowadays a thread can sit here with no responses and sink like an unconscious person in the sea. I get that people are busy, I’m busy too, but damn, have some outlets!

I like it.
Here’s a bit of proof of the apathy around here. Look at the number of views on this thread (73 currently) and we have 11 responses, all of which are by you and me. That’s 71 other people who have nothing interesting to contribute.

Corona’s impact on CBB for two full seasons changed a lot and expedited the decline of the board in many facets. So many regulars aren’t here from years past, and all of the sudden it feels more like you’re just talking with internet strangers as opposed to internet strangers you remember

And yeah, probably. At least as far as college basketball is concerned. I have friends who care far more about the NBA, NFL, or college football.

GFY...is that interesting enough? JK sorta. But to the topic. I'm a Hoosier fan(obviously) been here for almost 20yrs and seen plenty come and go. The board just isn't what it used to be.

Far and away the biggest among my friends. I’m the one always dropping news about recruiting to them and usually the first one to text our group text when a game is on. Hell, I have 3 or 4 group texts going in game.

We were stuck in the car yesterday trying to get home in time for the Bengals game so I made my wife drive and I watched the Purdue Ohio State game on my iPad in the passenger seat. I don’t miss Purdue games.

So, your wife not a boiler fan?

If I had a circle of friends that loved talking college basketball, I probably wouldn't need to come to this board. I suspect most of us are in that category. I have plenty of conversations with people about basketball, but I feel like it's mostly at an elementary level. Football and baseball seem to be the sports that people around me discuss the most.

I can talk to my brother about basketball and I can talk to my dad about the Chicago Bulls, but other than that the only person I even know who follows basketball is my wife.

All my friends are hockey players. Hockey players in general hate basketball. If I even mention something about basketball i get laughed at and shit thrown at me if I'm in a locker room.

I don't follow any other sports these days so basically the only convo's I have about basketball are on message boards.

This board even 4-5 years ago had a become a problem. You really can’t talk basketball on here with many Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, or duke fans without them trying to talk down to you because your program hasn’t been as good as historically as theirs has been. Apparently you can only know basketball if you cheer for one of those 4 schools. I came here looking for legit basketball discussion but changed my tune to being an asshole to blue blood fans that had zero sense of reality because none of them were actually looking for any basketball discussion that involved anything but saying duke, Kansas. North Carolina And Kentucky are the best. Nothing else matters. This board just doesn’t want to hear talk of different schools

I think the decline in board activity has to do with two things. One being that everything has become politicized, including this board. If you are like me, you are sick and tired of talking politics all day every day, and I've heard first hand from old regulars that they just don't want to put up with that crap. Hell, we almost lost @jhmossy for good because of stuff like that.

Two, life happens. I can name a few solid former posters that stopped posting due to life circumstances. @schoonerwest is one of them. And they just never found their footing to come back. I get it, but it does suck for us that stay here and still love to talk hoops.

Outside of that one thread, I've not seen much politics on here. I guess I don't pay attention.

The offseason is usually nothing but.
Again, outside of that thread...

Granted there's not much to talk about during the offseaon but to compared to other boards. It's pretty tame when it comes to politics. Seems pretty easy to avoid or just ignore. To each their own, but yeah, Schooner leaving pretty much coincided with the birth of his son. It be great if he came back. Dude could get a conversation going with the best of them.

You've been around long enough to know what I'm talking about. I will go out of my way to start basketball threads during the summer, and its basically crickets. Everyone would rather talk about current events and who's upset at who. Which is fine, but if that's all people want to talk about, it will become annoying to those that dont.

Used to be. Just don't care nearly as much anymore. Now, if you want to talk 3rd grade travel hoops, I''m your guy! RollLaugh

Noppers, I rarely talk sports except here. I imagine y'all think I live in an Orange house, but I don't. The only UT thing I have on the wall is a diploma in the study and it shares space with my spouses which isn't even from an SEC school.

Yes I’m he biggest fan.I’m the biggest fan. But Texas Tech started playing basketball 27 years after say Kansas did. So when the Blue Blood people make it about numbers I’m limited in my ability to respond.

Historic stats can be used as a crutch. If all else fails, bring up old blue blood stats.

I like other noobs on the board. Never tried to attack personally. Probably attacked a few teams for lack of stats. So I'm sure I'm guilty. It's hard to let them be unused when they're earned.

If you are ever "limited" responding to a blueblood fan reach out to me. I'll be more than happy to help out. 🙂

Yeah but when they happened before your university existed and to interesting competition how much should the rest of us care?

Kansas played YMCA teams along with like Haskell Indian Nations University and William Jewell College in the early seasons.

Kentucky went 12-2 during the 1913-14 season. I'm not sure how much the rest of us non-blue bloods are supposed to care that you went through Centre College, Sewanne, Mississippi College, The Citadel, Mercer, Tulane, etc.
