They are pretty comparable. Like @jhmossy said, if you swapped their wins and losses undefeated Duke would be ahead of 1 loss Michigan.

You also need to look where both teams were ranked at before the season started. Duke and Gonzaga both were top 5, and Duke lost by 2 on a neutral court. Michigan was way down, if I’m not mistaken.
Yeah, Duke gets a lot of attention, but if both Duke and Michigan were to lose the same day, see who gets more coverage on sports center.

Yeah, that’s the point. Duke ahead of Michigan has to do with a little more than just resumes. Resumes are comparable. Pre season hype and name recognition not so much.
