Who are the golfers here and how do you shoot?

no golf here in Chicago for a while. My 10 day is showing crap weather for at least 10 days. I'm hoping to get in 2-3 rounds in May before my early June golf trip to French Lick.

Larry Bird’s town has good golf?

French Lick golf resort

Check out the link, famous golf resort there. They hosted senior PGA event a few years ago.

Only downside is the food at the resort is subpar at least last 2 times I was there. There are a couple decent options in town so not the end of the world. They have 3 courses, all fantastic.

There's even a casino at the resort if that's your thing.

83-85.

Plus I shoot a lot of loads an @Rod Dangerfield mom's back. She's so ugly I can't stand to look at her so I hit it from the back
Stop lying & just come to grips with who & what you are. The only loads you shoot on backs are when you pull it out of hairy asses. You’re a raging butt pirate.

My GHIN is 17 right now. Retiring at end of this month so hoping to see that drop significantly. I’m going to play rounds this year just carrying a few clubs to dial them in. Putting is definitely my weak point - lost count of 3 putt bogeys and doubles. Love to play though.

I got grouped up in the last flight of a tournament once with a guy, really good golfer, who only carries 7 clubs. Said he never used the others so just stopped carrying them.

I figure I can drop 10 strokes if I quit making stupid decisions - easier said than done. I have a simulator and I’ll play rounds with just a 7I, 3H (autoputt is on) and know I shoot better (fairways hit especially) and then go to course and pull my Driver- I guess I like to play from the trees. . 🙄

Headed home from Orlando. I think I may be getting too old to play 7 rounds in 5 days while drinking 2 handles of Tito’s.
Where did you play? Got lots of buddies in Orlando, have been there golfing about 100x.

If you play golf anywhere near Destin Fla, you gotta check out Kelley Plantation. Look it up. Excellent course

Reunion Resort. 3 courses designed by Palmer, Watson and Nicklaus. 8th year in Orlando but 3rd at just Reunion. We’ve played most of the great courses in Orlando.

It helps making the smart decision for sure. I've gotten better at that. The main course I play has a par three that plays anywhere from 210 to 230 yards. That's just too much for me. So I'll hit a driving iron or 4 iron knowing I'll be short. I have a shot at getting up and down for par or at worst a bogey. But, in the past I would take out a three wood, try and choke down and hit it, which isn't a normal shot you practice a lot so all kinds of crap can go wrong. Or just punching out to the fairway instead of trying some stupid shot, or hitting three wood off the tee to leave yourself a 90 yard pitch on a short par 4 instead of hitting driver, etc... It's a good point about simply making the smart decision.

Well that actually does exist, I've played it once and it's very difficult. The balls light up and they put colored lights around the green. I meant this afternoon, teed off around 4:30 pm.

They have some night tournaments here but I've never played one.

I’m about a 15 cap, but I’ve never measured it officially. I’ve played since I was about 10yo; never had the money to play a lot. In a place that only has 6 golf months in a year, that’s been only about a dozen rounds a season for me. That’s changed recently because I have a boss who takes me golfing during work hours.

I have some power. Driver is 270-280; touched 300 a few times when conditions were perfect. Not accurate into the green. Not a good putter. Decent around the greens with a wedge.

I played night golf with my parents and wife once. It was a good time. It’s meant to be more of a fvck around, party-type atmosphere. At least, that’s how the course that we played did it and it made sense. Playing a ‘competitive’ round of night golf sounds insane, if anybody is doing that.

If you ever try it, splurge on good glow-in-the-dark golf balls. We played with the ones that have a glow stick that slides into them. You have to be careful not to hit the ball with it facing the target because the stick will just fly out. They were also hard as rocks, to the point that I left my woods in the bag and didn’t even feel comfortable with the few hybrids I hit. Felt like the faces were going to cave in.

I used to host a night golf outing with my neighborhood. Played 9 holes and you were allowed to deduct a stroke for every beer you drank on the course.

It was a shit show but a hell of a lot of fun!

One of my buddies legit drank 24 beers in 9 holes. Dude is a professional.

With what you described, ain’t no way you’re a 15 handicap. You’re not counting every stroke, scooter.

IDK, sounds like around a 15 hcp to me. That isn't a good golfer (but not awful either), just someone who now and then can get close to 80 but generally is in the 85-95 range.

1875 wasn't awful but I was also lit after a day at Pete Dyes course.

I'll take a look, but I don't have high hopes for a fancy steakhouse at the resort given how awful everything else there is.

I think there's a new steakhouse in town. I'll be more likely to chance it there.
