Top 10 Players of the Decade

Trash in college. Davis won the championship bc he changed the game on the defensive end. Zion was an excellent defender, but Davis just completely shut down the entire paint area with his defensive length. His defense was so much more dominating than any college player I’ve seen, this decade. He could win games on the defensive end without scoring a point. And Zion was no slouch on D, but he didn’t dominate games with his defense the way Davis did.

Take notes 1986 I commended a former uk player so put another tally mark on my Louisville fan card, or my nuetral fan card, or my double secret agent/spy/troll card.

Again... not really what I was looking for. I wasn’t sure if I was totally obvious or if someone would go nuts, but so far the “I disagree, and allow me to elaborate” answers are not what I was aiming for.

Maybe a sign I should leave the trolling to the trolls... may not be my forte:)

There isn't a Kentucky fan on this message board who won't defend all things UK no matter how obvious the troll is. Jimbo included.
To be fair, until this post I haven't posted in this thread and/or defended Davis, or posted in the Sweet 16 thread. That is a obvious troll thread. SmokinSmile

Err. What? Zion had an effective fg% near 71%, while Trae was roughly 52%. Not even in the same ballpark.

Yeah, but the hypo was on equally talented teams. Put Zion on OU's team that Trae was on and he isn't as efficient.

Not buying it. If Trae Young, a very high-volume shooter, increased his 3-point shooting from 36% all the way to 50%, his efg% is still only 62.9%. A far cry from 71%. Steph Curry, arguably the greatest shooter in the history of the sport, has an all-time single season best at 63%.

And let's not forget that Zion is 20 times the defender that Trae is (he was one of the 4 finalists for the NABC Defensive POY). And then there's the fact Duke was ranked 329th in the nation in 3-point shooting. Zion wasn't getting 1 on 1 matchups. He was consistently doubled-teamed. Teams knew they could pack the paint and take a chance on leaving a Duke player open on the perimeter.

Also, Trae had 3 other 4-star recruits around him (and plenty of guys in the top 200). Steph Curry, Jimmer Fredette, and Ja Morant, high-volume scorers from mid-majors, all managed to win games in the NCAA Tournament, despite not having a single teammate that was a top 100 recruit. OU went 18-14 and was ranked 48th by KenPom in 2018. The following season, they returned to the NCAA Tournament and finished 32nd in KenPom rankings. The top 4 scorers all returned from the 2018 team. Trae is a good player, but his value is a little overrated, IMO.

As a huge Jayhawk fan I have to agree on A Davis. He was a freak of a college player. Our center was second best and a first team AA, but Davis was just someone that was unstopable.
Honestly, im not positive i would take AD over jeff withey circa 2012. They were maybe the 2 best shot blockers of the decade. 1 a senior 1 a freshman. (freshmen/soph withey was pretty much garbage and ive never been so wrong about a guy never developing) but thise dudes were special bucket protecters. AD obviously continued to progress and the unibrow is a leaos and bounds better now but in that year window id say its a tiss up that favors the guy who didnt gimme the willies lookibg at his eyebrows
