Thursday, Dec 9th Games. Not Much

Doesn't KU have the most consecutive trips to the tournament? How is it possible to get there year after year and flame out?

Fair question. However, it could be worse. Such as finishing 9-16 or getting Bob Morrised.

It's crazy. We'd sellout 24K for gameday before noon when Cal showed up.

UHD TV's are a hell of a drug.
Rupp has still been between 88%-93% capacity, even while playing the scrubs. You make it sound like they are on par with Louisville's attendance.

UK can go toe to toe with FF and Elite 8. We won a title in the past 10 years. Not many can say that.

“I don't blame anybody for not coming to the games because of COVID, because of the construction, and traffic, because now you can watch it on TV,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said this season. “And you're older. We got an old crowd.

“…If they’ve got to walk 200 yards to get in a door to get in the arena to walk another 100 yards, you would do it? I wouldn't do it. I just know me. What if it rained? I'm not walking 200 yards to get in the building.”

When you've played 7 cupcakes in a row there isn't much to be excited about.
Yeah but your not there to see the other team you are there to see your team. I enjoyed watching Tech played a bunch of cupcakes before we lost to Providence and then beat Tennessee.

I mean at least y'all got home games for all the cupcakes. We played on Padre Island with like HS game level quality broadcast with UT-Rio Grande students call the game on ESPN+.

Paywall. I am over my limit of free articles from that trash site. 😆

I haven't been to a UK home game in like 4 years so I can't comment. 😆 I also haven't lived in the state in 4 years though.

I've not even stepped foot in Kentucky for 5 or so years, Do you think you'll ever move back? I've been all around it.

I'm in Memphis and can't go, I would, but what's going on in Rupp is ppl just not showing up.
That's only 6 hours or so. That's about what the trip from Dallas to Lubbock is that I used to make for my Tech season football tickets. Basketball is harder though because of when they play. Now I only get to see Tech @TCU games luckily there is plenty of seating for DFW TTU fans at that place.

Maybe, but doubtful. My whole family is in Florida now. No relatives left in KY, but most of my friends live there.

7 hours from here to Lex. 7 hours back. 8 there and 6 back if you count the time zones.

I have 3 elders living there. A few friends but I haven't seen them in years. Talk often, but they've not ever came down here and I don't get up much.

With that said, I do plan on retiring in Kentucky.

I do love Memphis. How could I not after being here so many years, but lets' get something straight. I'm pimping the pimps. The money rolls up. With that said, I have about 9 more years here. 2030 I'll be 55.

What took you to Memphis to begin with?

Wife graduated college, I could sell anywhere, her dad was working at the BOP in Forrest City, AR. She started her career here. I work and gather money outside of work. I mow yards, plow ice, work on cars, sell everything under the sun. Got a salesman license in two states, dealer license in one, and a fun shop with my BIL. It's been easy money buy time consuming. I am looking forward to focusing on more fun things.

*I followed a girl.

I'm surprised everyone doesn't sell something. Start it as a hobby, then rent a store....or open a website. Betting is probably the better way to go.

I got my favorite compliment today. No matter what state I was in, this is my all time favorite.

"No one has explained it that way, or took the time to explain it that way.". "I've never thought of it that way."

Wife is in the counselor field and she loves it too.

Any of you Kentucky guys watch any of your women against DePaul? Whoever the lady announcer is can barely speak, how can they have her calling a game?
Whoever this black chick doing the ESPN halftime show with Farnham is ****ing terrible. YOU DON"T HAVE TO YELL EVERYTIME YOU SPEAK ON CAMERA LADY. JFC who's dumb idea was it to put here out there. Awful

Female announcers are usually cringey. And then you have some that know what they're talking about, like Doris Burke, but still, that voice isn't pleasant. You hate to say it, but I can't ever remember being excited about a female calling a basketball game. I'm cool with the sideline reporters like Maria Taylor and Allison Williams, though. Couple of small interviews. That's fine. But hearing female voices, whether it's the play-by-by or color commentator, for two hours while trying to enjoy a game? No thanks.

If Baylor can get past Villanova, we might get to see a 12-0 Iowa State team play a 12-0 Baylor team on New Year's Day.

The Iowa State turnaround is remarkable. 2-22 to possibly being a top 15 team?!? Of course, it's pretty much a new team altogether. Of the 9 rotation players, only two of them are returning players from the previous season (Tre Jackson & George Conditt). Still, I don't think anyone saw this coming. Izaiah Brockington has really elevated his game this season. If a vote was conducted today, he'd be an easy 1st Team All-Big 12 selection. And Tyrese Hunter has had a fantastic start to his collegiate career.

Yeah, it's wild and if you watch them they look legit as well. It doesn't seem fluky. They are a good team that plays well together.

Yeah. I agree. Even the ones who are truly knowledgeable....I just don't want to hear that shyt all game.

But this was the pregame/halftime/etc ESPN in studio behind the desk. This chicj was just obnoxiously loud. Never seen her before, but she was truly awful

Women trying to break through in the profession are in a real difficult spot. Since viewership is dominated by men, getting many roles require hotness. Then you may have some that almost over compensate or whatever, the shouting, the yelling, the ongoing rambling.

Will say I stopped watching Sportscenter decades ago but recently started throwing it on a few days here and there in the morning and got to say, the males scream and yell too. And of course the talk shows are dominated by screaming and yelling I can't view those or listen to those for longer than a minute.

So there might be a perception that this is somehow adding something to the games, but obviously it isn't.

So really it's just a profession lacking quality. Some males that are universally considered the best I dislike. Just one ex, Bilas is loved right? To me all the dude does is complain about foul calls. It's just too much for me. If you can get past the complaints about fouls throughout a game maybe he's a good one. I'll pass.
