This was called a foul on TyTy

Anyone who thinks that was a blocking call is just looking to be contrarian. Why am I not surprised at who the main culprit is?

Whenever you feel you wanna give officiating a shot, give me a call...

812 270 2754.....And I ain't scared to give you UK folk my #----after all, I don't own my own business...

Can you imagine a game where every time a player does what Tyty does, creates a foul?
If some of you were more versed on the rules, and their meaning, you wouldnt be in such shock....If this were any game but UK, every single UK fan would agree----especially if the call weere in your favor.

Learn the god damn rules...

OK, but can a ref call that constantly throughout the game?

To point on what you're saying here, and touch back on Tshiebwe questions.

When Oscar goes up for a layup and his strong drive to the hole catches a dude in the face, or maybe an elbow to the chin, Is that offensive or defensive foul, or maybe play on?

No malice, just going strong to the hole like dude isn't even there.

If guys bounce off him, it's not a foul. Right?
Huh? What you are describing is 100% different than what happened....I feel like I am trying to explain to 3rd graders on why you shouldn't eat glue...

Different scenario. I thought I made that clear. I thought you might remember my Oscar questions from a couple of weeks ago.

Sure, they could....But not all contact is the same. When contact creates an advantage, disadvantge, or the scenario in this play, you have to make a call...

I get tired of hearing---"well I saw the same thig last week, and it wasn't called"---Ok. That's a different dude, who may have seen the play differently...I dunno. Just b/c something isn't always called, doesn't mean its not against the rules---or that its not right.

TBH, pretty tired of discussing the god damn call....TyTy was mever in a legal guarding poition...he came from all the away across the floor, stepped into Pippens path, and it caused the initial contact. That is a foul. No matter if Pippen ran into TyTy, THEN pushed off. The initial contact is the foul.

That is all.

Post play vs perimeter play is different....It just is.
Now that's settled. Care to answer the question about players bouncing off Oscar even if his elbows comes into contact with face.

He's not look at the players and no malice, it's just him "going "strong".

I'm not sure the context of the qusetion----or why its being asked? Oscar is a physical dude. Big dude. He gets some tick tack calls---he gets away with some shit too----It all evens out.

Trying to explain a call that goes against UK is useless....Dealing with a fan base that keeps track of their record with officials....That feels most are out to get them....ALong with the NCAA, ESPN and even NASA. Many of times I wish I'd never let it be known I officiated. Ya'll ask for an explanation, I give it....But if its not the one you desire, then the, "well it never gets called, or we alway get this or that, etc, etc...." You, nor any UK fan on here will ever agree, so really no reason to try and explain. Cal has brainwashed you dudes into thinking that the "refs" are out to get UK.....So it is what it is.

The call was the right call----the shove made it look bad---and TyTy's theatrics made it look even worse; You'd thought dude had got caught in an F-2 tornado with how he acted.

TBH, I'm no longer interested in answering questions pertaining to calls. Or at least those involving UK. Feel free to ask about any other call----just leave the UK shit out. Becasue like I said, had this same play happened, and it was me explaining why it was a foul on Vandy, this thread would have ended 3 pages ago...

I never questioned the call on Tyty. Pointed out that could be called all game long, and brought up something different with Oscar.

I hope all the UK fans don't get lumped in with me.

All you have to do is look at the physics of the contact. Pippen's body trajectory never changed other than his head pulling back which was a direct result of him putting effort into the push. TyTy's trajectory changed and followed the path of Pippen's push. I doubt the calling ref actually saw the push off. It looked like Pippen's body may have blocked his view.

If TyTy had actually initiated contact, then Pippen's trajectory would have changed.

@IUfanBorden was defending what could have happened and not what actually happened.

It can be called all game long,I guess....Again,you gotta determine wha the contact creates....Holding could be called on everyplay in the NFL----but its not. Basketball is a contact sport. Deciding if that contact impacted the play, etc, etc....is a subjective decision at times. Some may feel it does....some may feel it does not.

Ya guys shot 35 FT's----Oscar got by with at least 3-4 "over the back"---There was some calls that went UK's way as well.....Yet ya'll wanna bitch about ONE call, that had zero impact on the game.

I try and explain the rule, and why it was called a block....And all I get is, "well hes defending the officials-----he's an IU fan(GLobal), etc, etc.....Shit gets tiresome. Its like being with my in-laws, watching a uK game, and I cannot even enjoy the gmame, b/c I spending 3/4 of it getting asked stupid ass questions...

The rule book is available to download---so is the case book.

Question 1: If you are running with the dribbler, beside him, are you ever in a legal guarding position?

Answer: No

Question # 2: If one foot comes off the floor, wouldn't you no longer be in a legal guarding position?

Answer: Yes, you would be. Once you have maintained/established a legal guarding position, you are allowed to move. Which rewuires you to move/raise your foot/feet. You can move side to side, or backwards, and ,maintain a legal guarding position.

Cylinder rule: You must give the offense(non ball handler/dribbler) room, i.e. a step, to make a basketball move. If you "get into " the offensive player, with contact, OR do not give him room to make a basketball play, and he moves, and there is contact, its a defensive foul, via the cylinder rule..

With the cylinder rule the issue I have is what you said----offense extending arm/forearm to the chest. I don't like that. And IMO, if you feel the cylinder rule hasn't been violated, that should be an offensive foul. TBH, I don't like the rule, but think the intent is needed. Just think the rule needs tweaked.

Hope that helps

Thank you it does. What are your thoughts on this?

Not really....Pippens trajectory didn't change----which is irrelevant. TyTy stepped into his pat, the contact occurred, Pippen pushed off....Thats what happened. TyTy's path caused the contact, and its irrelevant if it was Pippen who ran into Ty.

I've watched the play over and over...I'm looking at, A) TyTy's path---he came from across the floor...His left foot steps into the path of Pippen---and he had no time to change direction, i.e. trajectory...b/c the contact immediately followed.

Its moot----You guys are gonna see it from a fans POV....I am seeing from an officials POV---with the advantage of understanding the rule.

Either way, I'm out on this...I;ve tried to explain over and over....That it does not matter if Pippen ran into TyTy first----that is 100% irrelevant.

Good luck tonight vs Bama...

Ahh ok. The announcer made it sound like it was called a block.

Idk, I'd say its a foul but not calling it isn't as bad as I calling it on the wrong guy

Had a play today I have never seen----Ever. Kid tries to split two defenders by using a jump stop,AND.........Literally lands in the lap of one of the defenders, and just hangs there----as if he were laying in his lap to get spanked. The defender eventually holds him, to keep him from falling....But I mean, he(offensive dude) literally, and perfectly landed in his lap. Me and partner just looked at one another(our 3rd guy couldn't see this), and after by 3-4 seconds was like----"WTF do we call"? NOw the offensive players foot did come down and hut the floor, so my partner called a travel. Coach asked me, how is that a travel----I was like dunno----but what else should we have called?

Crazy play. After discussing it, maybe we could have called a jump ball. I dunno. But couldn't really call a foul. I mean the dude landed in his lap...belly down. As if when pops would bend you over his knees/lap, and spank you....

It would be a lot better than seeing flops rewarded with charging calls on every other possession.

The charge call has become a joke.
Totally agree. These officials need better training.
A 180lb guard is not going to make a 220lb forward look like he just got shot out of a cannon.

I can't believe the amount of obvious flops that get rewarded.

The "flop warning" is stupid. The players already know it's against the rules and they aren't supposed to do it, so why are you giving them a free pass? Stop with the warnings and start slinging technicals. How often are players actually getting t-ed up for it? It never happens.

However, there is a difference between a true flop (where no foul occurred) and embellishing the contact of an actual foul. A foul is a foul regardless of how a player reacts to it.

Yeah that was not a foul on TyTy. He was moving to pressure Pippen and as he got close Pippen extended his arm and shoved TyTy.

There’s no debating it. Anyone that says it’s on TyTy is either blind or just a hater.
