The “All Things UK” Thread

Kentucky will be fine. Robinson is more than capable of handling point guard duties. He had some beautiful dimes against Gonzaga. And Kentucky will be a little better defensively, too.

Yeah, I'm not saying Kerr Kriisa is not a good player, but UK is better when he's on the bench and I think he's a guy Pope really likes, so this forces Pope to put Jaxson in there as Butler's backup.

Yeah, depth is where they will miss Kriisa, especially until Butler is 100%. You can't really expect to run at such a frenetic pace on offense all game when you have limited options at the point. Players have to get a breather every now and then or they'll run out of gas in crunch time.

You’re really big on metrics, Kenpom has you guys as the last 4 seed, BPI has you as the last 5 seed. Do you only use metrics when it’s to your advantage?
The metrics will change after last night. But still, our resume is far better than that of a 4 seed and after next week, it will be even better.
Not sure why you think I'm a big metrics guy, I'm no different than anyone else when it comes to that.

You’ve posted multiple times that metrics don’t lie, even back in November when I said that it was too early for metrics to be correct. I am not sure about the BPI, but Kenpom already calculated yesterday’s games.

Yeah, UK is 21st.
Louisville is 35th, do you think there are 34 teams that are better than UofL?

I don’t know, I’m a Louisville fan and I can be biased. Tuesday night after Georgia beat y’all there was talk (KSR) that this group just isn’t athletic enough. Now moving forward three days and the chatter is about being one of the elite teams. Kentucky can play with anyone when they are hitting like yesterday, but you guys have to shoot above average to actually do that. Your offense is elite, your defense is not good at all.

Well, it was kind of discouraging after the UGA game. We needed to see this team do something other than play flat on the road and finally, they did just that last night at one of the hardest places you can play.
Just like Louisville, UK has a brand new team and they are trying to figure things out.
I need to see how they do in their next road game though, need to see if they can sustain that effort.
One thing is for sure, the rebounding and defense has to improve greatly and I trust Pope will figure it out.
