Steph Curry is the best shooter in NBA history

Jordan could of been one and done or HS to pros had that been a truly feasible opportunity at the time he came up. Like it was in 2003 when Lebron was drafted. When MJ took the throne of GOAT there was a clear cut case , everyone could see it. With Lebron it's still debatable , so until Lebron makes it clear cut he is the GOAT..... It's still Jordan.
Makes zero sense. If MJ came up after Lebron, he then could not be the GOAT until it was obvious?

Really only been one guy compared to Lebron so far and that's Simmons at this point. He still has a ways to go too.
How about Baby Jordan and then OJ Mayo? Mayo was being dubbed the next Lebron in HS.

6'4 combo guard compared to a 6'8 250 lb combo guard/SF. Just because something is said and public doesn't make it right.

No, but the point is he had the expectations thrust on him.....you actually don't want to credit Lebron for having such high expectations and exceeding them? If memory serves, you even wanted to use it against him (apologies if I'm wrong)?

Lebron played an active role in the hype and expectations. It was invited, not thrust upon him.

Off the court.

Great players love the high expectations. Thrive off of them.
The great players end up thriving off of them. The pretenders don't. The idea someone thought Lebron's success is lessened because of the pressure was foolish.

I give him credit for handling high expectations since a young age. I also realize he was given every god given physical tool , a once in a generation basketball prodigy could have been given. Has he exceeded them? That book is still being written. If I am going to be told over 15 years something is gonna be the greatest ever I eventually expect it to happen without a doubt. Also let's not front like Lebron doesn't love the "look at me moments" as much as any superstar. That is where he and Jordan are the most similar. They are both all about themselves from a basketball standpoint.

Getting in the weight room is God given? Are you saying if he was given more god given ability and could go for 40-12-12, you'd hold that against him as well?

And very few told you he'd be the greatest ever. said maybe the next MJ. and it appears he was and might exceed him.

Such a waste, huh?

It wasn't enhanced or lessened. Expectations have minimal impact on athletes.

Lebron was 6'8 240 at 18. Like I said , hold your horses on this sudden anointment.

you think Lebron looks the same now as in HS?

Get serious...those arms are skinny as a rail

That's what he was listed at as a rookie and during the draft. I think it's more like how Kevin Durant lists himself at 6'9" even though he is really 6'11". Lebron is more like 6'9" 260 than he is 6'8" 250 as what he is listed. Lebron didn't turn 19 until middle of his 1st NBA season.

Edit: Lebron's NBA combine measurements in the spring of 2003 right before he graduated HS.

Name Weight Height w/o Shoes Height w/ Shoes Wingspan Standing Reach
James, LeBron 245 6' 7.25" 6' 8" 7' 0.25" 8' 10.25"

why not just say you were off base? You saw the picture. He was kind of skinny, wouldn't you say? You think his shoulders and biceps got how they were today from where they were with no effort? Just God?

I was still correct. I just edited to post his NBA combine measurements in previous post and he was actually 245 at end of his HS career. Meaning he is likely about 265-270 now. You are not winning your point.

HGH

I am not gonna call Lebron a cheater because it takes more than HGH to accomplish what he has. But this isn't unfathomable.
LBJ is going to be 2nd best of all-time and HGH didn't make him the player he is. But his run of health combined with his size is unprecedented. I don't begrudge him for it, nor do I care. But I am of the mind-set that more guys cheat than don't.

I actually think highly regulated doctor prescribed HGH should be more available to athletes and even normal people.

Only if you cannot see am I not winning this point. Look at his arms in HS. My God.

You have no clue what his real weight is now. If you ask him, he wouldn't tell anyone. coiuld be 280-300 for all we know, as he is pure muscle.

And let's assume you are correct.....that he has gained 20-25 pounds since HS. Looks like pure muscle. You think that is God given?

Nope. It's certainly possible.....and it's doubtful the NBA would want to suspend him if he was caught. But if the guy says he wants to play football in the next year or so........?

I don't know about more cheating than not, but I'd bet it's a significant amount.

Yes certain body frames are capable of carrying more weight than others naturally. Duh!

It's your contention, Lebron didn't lift a weight to add 25-30 pounds of muscle (never mind it's more like 40-50)?

Duh?

Lebron is not nearly as thick as some people would like to admit. He’s a legit 6’7 and 240ish lbs. Basketball players are much skinnier in person than they appear on TV. They are long and lanky. See the pictures below:

Jason Garrett is thicker than Lebron

Cam Newton is listed as 6’5” and 245lbs.

LeBron hits the weight room, yes. But he is a genetic monster. Weight room or not, he was always going to be crazy big and crazy athletic. The work he's put in in the weight room has helped, especially later in his career, but he's never been in a situation where he didn't have enough muscle/size. Most uber-talented Forwards coming out of HS nowadays are lucky if they can get up to 200 pounds soaking wet. LeBron had a lot of them beat by 50 pounds.

Jordan, too, was a genetic freak of nature, just - relatively - shorter/smaller. Jordan, too, hit the weight room to help his NBA career; but sheer size was less of a determining factor in his success, imo.

I tend to be partial to 'smaller' (Jordan wasn't small, but smaller than LeBron) players because I've always felt that they have to work harder in basketball to be successful. If I had to sum it up in a couple sentences, I'd say; LeBron scores a larger percentage of his points by virtue of genetic predisposition than Jordan did. Jordan scored a larger percentage of his points by virtue of skill than LeBron does. I, personally, value skill more.

Both players have finesse and power, but if you had to categorize them as one or the other, Jordan is clearly the finesse guy and LeBron is clearly the power guy. When I think of Jordan, I think of an excellent ballhandler crossing over defenders at the perimeter and weaving around guys to get to the hoop for an acrobatic finish. When I think of LeBron, I think of a guy who can back down his defender from the 3 point line all the way to the rim and then dunk on him. If you put me in Jordan's body in his prime, I'm not convinced I could beat defenders like he could. If you put me in LeBron's body in his prime, I'm more confident that I could manage to bully my defender to the rim and score. Is that fair to LeBron? Probably not; he probably shouldn't get penalized for being bigger and stronger, but I'm penalizing him for it anyway. The sport is about entertainment and Jordan was more entertaining.

was this a joke? I'm as big as some of those you chose, and not close to built like Lebron. How about look at the 2 pics of Lebron.....now and in HS?

Can't really disagree with any of this....I just choose not to penalize Lebron for being bigger, stronger and maybe even faster, along with his leaping ability. If not for all these things, hell, maybe I'd be as good as he is.

I’m just saying Lebron isn’t 6’9” and 280 like so many postulate. He’s 6’7” and 245 which is not small at all. Especially in basketball

either Lebron is 6-8 or 6-9, or Love is shorter, as they look to be close to the same height when they are next to each other.

Is this a joke? Simmons is dog shit compared to Lebron. Don't even start with that.

Hell he shouldn't even be "rookie" of the year.

Do you not read? Do you not listen to the talking heads on the NBA? Media people have made the SImmons , Lebron comp multiple times this season. Even draft sites were comparing him to Lebron in many ways. Take your beef up with someone else Sloppy Joe.

He plays similar. That's the only comparison.

"He has a ways to go" - no shit he's not even close to the same stratosphere Lebrons on.

Yea the passing , the size , the ability to guard multiple positions are all similar. Funny thing is the only poster that liked your post so far was talking about the OJ Mayo to Lebron comparisons in HS. You have no issue with that Lebron comp to OJ Mayo but Ben Simmons being compared is where you are offended?

I don't think they are comparable, FYI, but I've definitely heard some try to compare them.
