So I would like to give some credit to Coach Calipari. Normally he gets a ton of flack for perpetuating the 1 and done but it is amazing how he has been able to constantly change over his lineup and make them work. KU has played UK 4 times in the last 4 years (2014 champions classic, 2016 and 2017 home ad home b12/sec challenge, and 2017 champions classic) and its amazing to look at some stats from those games

Number of different players who have scored for the two teams in at least one game

KU:18
UK: 27

Number who have scored in 2 games:

KU: 8
UK: 6

Number who have scored in 3 games:
KU: 3
UK: 1

% of points scored by someone who played the previous year

2016 (played in the 2014 game) 2017 (b12/SEC) 2017 (champions classic)
KU: 68% (61 OF 90) KU: 71% (56 of 79) KU: 57% (37 of 65)
UK: 58%( 49 of 84) UK: 48% (35 of 73) UK: 5% (3 of 61)

If Gabriel didn't score in the 2017 champions classic game (he played in the B12/SEC game but didn't score) that total would have been 0. Coach Self has had the luxury of bringing in a couple of elite players and mixing them with guys who stayed 4 years and Coach Calipari has not had that. Outside of Willis and Hawkins, nobody on UK has even played in more than 2 of these games (KU has had 4 guys play in 3 of those games).

Interesting but only means something if the players are injury prone. For example, last years KU/Duke game-how many KU players scored in the OT period-1. But I do love strange stats.
