SEC releases Basketball Pre Season Poll. Did they get it right?

Ummmmm, Lurker???? Florida isn't going to be some veteran group, brother....Projected line-up:

PG: Nembhard----Sophomore..His back-ups are both freshman.
SG: Locke---Sophomore....Back up is a freshman
SF: Lewis----Freshman.....BAck up a sophomore
PF: Johnson---Sophomore....Back up is a freshman
C: Blackshear---Graduate transfer....Back up is a freshman.

The core of their team is mainly Freshman and Sophomore's.
Sophomore's are veteran's to UK fans. :D

Honestly, I didn't realize they were so young. I feel much better about UK's chances now.

I figured as much...Being a good friend and all, I went easy on ya..Winking
I don't guess yall be sending me a UK poster this year? I have everyone since the early 90s. I asked my mom, but she has no idea what I'm talking about. "Mom, just go to Kroger and they give them out".

SEC has crazy depth this year. Realistically everyone outside of Vanderbilt has a shot at the tournament. Here's how I'd break it down

Locks (3):
Kentucky
Florida
LSU

Probably Safely In (2):
Auburn
Alabama

Right Side of the Bubble (2):
Ole Miss
Tennessee

Somewhere in the Bubble (3):
Georgia
Mississippi State
Arkansas

Wrong Side of the Bubble (3):
Missouri
South Carolina
Texas A&M

No chance (1):
Vanderbilt

Ever since the commissioner put an emphasis on basketball, the schools has really brought in some great talent on coaches, and in turn recruiting. IIRC, SEC has lead in 5* recruits the last two or three years.

I understand if not. It's a lot to ask I know.My brother lives and Somerset and works in Lexington, but he works more hours than I do, and I have better luck calling a guy on Mars, than I do getting a hold on him.

Sad state of affairs when I rely on an Indiana fan to get me a UK poster.

That's the spirit.

It is pretty amazing to know you're a die hard IU fan, and your wife is a diehard UK fan. I understand why you take frustrations out on UK fans here for their homerism.

I'll give you a youtubetv account until April as trade.

If you don't still have my address, tell her to hit me up on facebook, and i'll give it there. Not assuming anything, just in case.

My wife and I have never once argued over IU/UK....She's as far from a homer as one comes. The cool thing? When Indiana isn't playing, and UK is---Or UK isn't playing, and IU is---we watch the games together, in each's teams garb...I get after UK fans on here, but I have zero dislike for the program. On here, its different. And I think you know this by the number of times we have talked.

I do remember a pic of you wearing UK gear. I thought that was pretty cool. some aren't secure enough to pull that off.

Growing up and living in Seymour for a couple of years, (still bitter about age discrimination), I've always had an admiration for IU. I've lived in other states over the years, but IU fans are the closest to UK fans as far as fandome goes, I've firsthand witnessed. *sigh,I really butcher the English language.

Thanks for the response. Not expected by the SEC writers (thus the #10 preseason conference ranking).

I like Frank Martin so I’m hoping he can put it together and get back to the tournament.

No problem! I figured you probably meant the media but was curious if you'd heard that elsewhere. I've come to the conclusion that the SEC basketball media pays very little attention to the actual teams, they must glance at players who left and the recruiting rankings and then make stuff up from there.

FYI, the consensus best scorer on the team (Couisnard) had to sit out last year due to some ridiculous academic hold up. He's full go this season. AJ Lawson is back 100% after getting hurt late last year and is widely considered a 1st round draft pick. Frank is saying this is his most talented and deep team since he's been at SC.I think all the media sees is that Chris Silva isn't there anymore. I will be truly surprised if they don't finish in the top 5 in the conference and make the tournament, but we will see.

I will say USC has a favorable conference schedule. UK and UF only once. Only 2 non conf games of any importance, UVA and Houston.

I can understand leaving out Missouri and Texas A&M, but Vandy is a puzzler.

It is a weird conference.
I guess because Vanderbilt is a private school that doesn't have a large fanbase that takes football seriously.

You are right about Missouri. Their problems started because their first game was against Georgia and the UGA fans automatically labelled them as an outsider.

Point is leaving Missouri and Vandy off is common

With all due respect, Kentucky should be the preseason favorites - 1. Florida’s top players besides KB are all underclassmen 2. According to rivals’s rankings Kentucky has more talent 3. Kentucky obviously has the head coaching advantage

Point number one can be said about uk as well. But I’d also give uk the edge bc of their depth, but in all honesty I don’t know as much about Florida’s roster as I do UKs.

Regardless both teams should be really really good.

Let me rephrase. I always get a kick out of folks who say "UK should have won more" while ignoring a)their own championships(lack thereof, and piss poor developing with a decent class) and b)all the while shitting on UK's players. UK clearly isn't perfect, but with 38 wins (twice), and a title, we're as close to perfect as any other teams has been. :p

I am feeling a little extra motivated for this and next years team.

One thing I like best about Duke is they actually stepped up their recruiting. Same as UNC recently. So their fans can't use that lame duck excuse. It's reserved for ppl of teams who recruit for shit and don't do shit in the tournament. You know who you are."well, well well, if we had those players..." Yeah, i'm sour.
People are also sour because we feel many of those recruits are ill gotten.

But yeah, haters gonna hate.

With the tradition Arkansas has there is no excuse for them to be projected this low in this league. Who the hell is coaching them this year? Do they have nothing?

New coach, Eric Musselman from Nevada. Hog fans are super excited about him, but we know hes flipping the roster.

Mike Anderson essentially didnt recruit any top notch guys, didnt teach fundamentals. Very mediocre and did just enough to get buy.

With the instate talent we will be back soon. Its possible for us to get 5 top 150 guys from inside Arkansas.

Ok yeah that is a good hire. Could see this turning around good luck in the future.

Is Bruce Pearl still at Auburn? Just in the last two years.

Sec regular season title
Sec tournament title
Tournament victories over Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
Final 4 and an official national title.

I thinks it’s safe to say the SEC still runs through Lee County, Alabama. Isaac Okoro. Remember the name.
