SCar/UK game thread

This should not have been this close. Frank is twice the in game coach Cal is. Refs tried to keep it close but Kentucky is a has been and Carolina is the new face of the SEC.

To the level headed UK fans that saw this coming, good game guys. See you in the SEC finals.
1. You all won't even make the SEC quarters.

2. Yes... Refs tried to keep it close by fouling out Kentucky's entire roster. And cal is so awful he's like 10-2 over frank in the last 12 meetings and absolutely destroyed your team last year that got a cake bracket to the final four.

Kentucky was up by 14 and a few blame this loss on the refs. Once Martin told his players to drive, the VERY first play they destroyed the zone, Cal didn't adjust. Played zone the rest of the game and USjr ate it up. Down 14, fouls dont get you back in the game if they're called both ways. Martin adjusted, Cal didn't. Simple as that.

Kentucky only has one player on their entire roster? SHit surprised then they only lost by 8.

It is funny how some of you will take Calipari quotes, and use them over and over and over....

Also, you wanna know why UK gets more starters in foul trouble than other teams? Available players. UK is not very deep. So guys with 2/3 fouls, have to play extended minutes they normally would not have to play.

For example:

UK played 9 players tonight.

USC played 13.

You're getting too scientific for crazyx, Borden.

"Is Rupp Rafters a complete dumpster fire right now, or what? I can only imagine...."

i took a look and saw alot of new posters with names like ukfan245, supercatfan, and big blue fan.

some of the real fans arent too swift either, but we have biggest amount of knowledgeable fans and the biggest amount of sportscenter fans just because of the numbers.

seemed like cal didnt want to play jv too much in his first game, sat him the last 6 or 7 minutes. this teams chances of a deep tourney run just took a big leap to me regardless of the L or whether we get a good seed, never get a good seed anyway. I got to give cal a pass on tonight , he will figure out the rotation.

This is a self fulfilling prophecy. Martin's strategy was to make the game a mud bowl because he knew he had fouls to spare and UK only had 9 players dressed, one of those being a walk on that has yet to score this year and another being a freshman in his first game after injury. Since refs are incompetent and impressionable and for some reason just have to keep foul discrepancies down by calling equal fouls on both teams, the strategy worked.

UK played almost exclusively zone to protect against foul trouble. USCjr responded by barreling UK players into the paint on post ups and then the refs called fouls on the inevitable contact when a USCjr player initiated contact.

The entire cock roster should have fouled out with 15 minutes left in the game with how they were playing.

Sorry dude. I'm not listening to this whine fest. Especially in a game where your team shoots 36 free throws.

BTW, USC went to a zone. Played it a lot in the second half. When playing a zone and not accustom to it, it can lead to fouls. Why? Because players are defending an area---not a player. So it is easy to get out of position.

The officiating isn't why you lost. You lost b/c you failed to hit shots and FT's down the stretch. USC did, and that was the difference.

We couldn't guard because we had 4 players with 4 fouls with 10 minutes left. You just admitted it yourself. They played 13 players. They had a bevy of non skilled players that frank couldn't care less if they fouled out. The only one they wanted in the game was Silva.

All USCjr wanted to do is make this game so brutally unwatchable that they were able to get to the free throw line. Their offense sucks ass on a level that is nearly incomprehensible. They got 12 more shot attempts than UK but only made 1 more. They were completely uninterested in playing basketball. All they were interested in was getting the ball to a place on the floor whereby would get a foul called on them.

And since you are completely unaware maybe I should tell you that UK has played tons of zone this year. TONS.

So when you're done being absolutely 100% wrong maybe we can continue discussing basketball.

Weird how when they shoot 30+ ft's at home and the other team way less, crazy isnt complaining but when it's equal, complains.

I mean, isn't this what most teams do?

South Carolina played 13 guys b/c the had 13 guys to play. And b/c of foul trouble. I am sure Cal would've wnet deeper to the bench, had he had the personal to do so with.

Man you are bad at understanding basketball.

Yes, UK has played a ton of zone. They've also played a ton of man to man. And playing man to man and understanding it's concepts is much, much easier than playing a zone.

Jesus, dude. UK shot 36 Free throws, and you are complaining?

Loss sucks but knew coming in that we were going to lose some road games. Vanderbilt is back now. He is going to get better and better each game and once we get our starting point guard back look out.
