Rumor is that he has a leg injury that will keep him out the rest of the season. Huge blow for Michigan and a sad to see for the senior who also battled injuries last year.

Chaundee Brown and Brandon Johns will see their combined minutes go from about 18 and 8 to 30 and 18.

Injuries suck ass...Hate to hrear that. YOu guys were FF good with Livers. Not so sure w/o him.

Line hasn’t changed yet, in fact it’s swung towards Michigan’s favor. Mi ML and OSU-6.5 imo

Yeah, seems it is a stress fracture. Should at least have time to heal it before trying to play for money. Sucks for the kid though. Hating injuries is the one thing we can all agree on.

Confirmed, stress (fracture?) injury.

I had one once. Takes a month to heal.
I had a stress fracture in my femur when I played in high school. I played through it for a while. Hurt like hell.

Any chance he returns next season? Doesn’t seem like it would hurt his draft stock, but I don’t know the kid’s situation.

That obviously really sucks for Livers and for Michigan. Wondering if the committee will adjust Michigan's seed or keep them on the 1-line.

This is somewhat similar to the DeAndre Hunter situation for UVA in 2018. If you stay on the 1-line, I hope you lose by 21. Nothing personal. I would wish it on Gonzaga, Baylor, Illinois, Alabama or whoever else is in contention for a 1-seed.

Sorry for y'all's loss.

Adjust our seed? No

I know they won’t. But there’s no way UVA was a 1-seed without Hunter.

Seeds are earned not projections though.

But it’s hard to know what we at now. I’m not shockingly more optimistic than doomers. Because our two best backups are wings Livers or Franz are easier to supplement than Smith or Dickinson.

that is true but seeds are earned based on the full complement of players you had throughout the season. Hard to imagine team earns that same seed without that player.

There is a large drop off after the top four seeds this year. I don't see anything changing.

There is still a chance Livers could play in two and a half weeks. Young bones mend quickly.

Eh, this won’t happen but if Iowa wins the big ten tourney, they could make a case for a 1 seed.

Large drop off from Michigan to Alabama and Iowa? Not really. If Michigan loses today and Bama wins the SEC tourney, they’ll have the same number of quad 1 wins I believe. And Iowa could end up with more.

Usually you dont expect to see a team with 7 losses to be a top seed, at least not 2 #1 teams with 7 losses. If Iowa wins the BIG tourney, one of Illinois and Iowa are going to be a 2 seed.

Nah, still not an issue. These would be the resumes in that hypothetical:
TeamNETQ1Q2Q3Q4
Illinois4 (not adjusted)11-65-13-02-0
Iowa6 (not adjusted)10-66-12-05-0

Top 3 Illinois wins
@ 3 Michigan
H 5 Iowa
H 9 Ohio St

Top 3 Iowa wins
N 3 Michigan
N 4 Illinois
@ 9 Ohio St

Worst 3 Illinois losses
@ 70 Michigan State
@ 46 Missouri
@ 39 Rutgers

Worst 3 Iowa losses
@ 75 Minnesota
@ 61 Indiana
H 61 Indiana

Wins are effectively a wash, but Iowa's losses are inarguably worse. Add in the fact that Illinois has played a much harder schedule, have played better of late (12-2 since Jan 16 in this scenario) vs (12-5 over the same timeframe), and I don't think the committee will give Iowa the 1 seed.

Where is the stress fracture? I hope not his foot. That’s what malik Williams has had three times now over 2 seasons. I know they are worse for big guys, but I still feel like a stress fracture in the foot can be a lingering thing, like career long.

I remember it ruined Chris Marcus’s career from wku. Isn’t that what oden had as well.

I know livers is a wing not a big, but still I hope it’s not in his foot.

Lets see if the committees are still going to pick Michigan as a top seed. They shouldnt be, but committees tend to make their selections for top 4 seeds already 1-2 days before Selection Sunday so who knows?

They lost at the buzzer to a 2 seed less than 24 hours after finding out about the injury for only their 4th loss of the season now they should no longer be a 1? I mean, it’s a huge loss but they are still going to be very tough and it’s hard to argue there is a more deserving team.

The injury happened so late in the season that there isn’t really a case to say they should drop. We don’t know what they are without Livers.

Very different from the Gillespie situation.

Michigan has been struggling since that blowout loss against Illinois, when they were not hit by injuries. They overachieved and are just brought back down to the earth right now. They've lost 3 out of their last 5 games, and the last time a team had a run as bad as this, the 2014 Cuse went from AP #1 to a 3 seed.

agree with you 100%. They should adjust seeds to account for teams that suffer a key injury right before the tourney. They should've dropped Virginia. They should've dropped Cincinnati when Kenyon Martin broke his leg. And they should drop Michigan to account for no Livers.

Making the tournament the most competitive it can be should take priority.

I thought they did drop Cincy from a 1 seed to a 2 seed that year?
