I like Rick Barnes. Would be a big loss for the SEC.
That would be a poor decision for Barnes I would think.
Not going anywhere. He will use UCLA to get a sweet deal at Tennessee.
I hope this happens. Would be hilarious. Especially when pearl tells them to go pound sand when they reach out. Delusional Tennessee fans have always said pearl would do anything to come back there.
Tennessee will not reach out to Pearl. They have already had two cheating coaches in basketball and fired them both. One of them was Pearl.
Dude is in his mid 60s. He doesn’t have a whole lot left in the tank. Why give up what you have going now with a 5 star and other good recruits coming in?
And he lied to the NCAA about having the BBQ and having the recruit attend. He then contacted the recruit and his family and asked them to lie to the NCAA. Just a little more than a BBQ.
The fans would love him back. The people who make decisions there will never have it though.
Pearl was fired for a lot more then a BBQ. He was fired for lying to his bosses then for having a recruiting violation while still dealing with his lying to the NCAA and his bosses. Sure fans would love to have him back and there will be a segment of our fanbase that will look like idiots over trying to bring him back but the administration and big money want even entertain the thought.
Let’s not act like UTK’s administration or big money people have exactly been knocking it out od the park when it comes to hiring the last 10 years or so
Not arguing that just telling you Pearl will make a statement that he is happy at AU and no interest in other jobs alluding to TN but the administration want even entertain the thought. They should make him say no but want. And yes we don’t really have a commitment to winning no casual fan will argue that. It’s why you saw the Schiano revolt because the casual fan is sick of incompetence by the administration and big money boosters.
Rick Barnes isn't going anywhere. He doesn't care about money or Hollywood. He is a country boy and the state of Tennessee suits him fine.
The UCLA beat writer said that? I’m shocked. I just don’t see him uprooting at 64 to go and try to rebuild UCLA. I would be a little shocked if he did accept the job.

UCLA doesn't need to rebuild. its all about getting the right coach. UCLA has the rep and the top players will choose UCLA just like they do for Duke, Kentucky, UNCheats and Kansas,

That's one reason. I just don't think he would like it a great deal there and I think he kind of is what he is at this point. He will go to the tourney, have very good regular seasons, and underperform based on expectations once he gets there. Will that be ok at UCLA? Maybe but I have a feeling they want to get back to legit relevancy. It is also a worse conference right now compared to the SEC. More eyes, more media love, more coverage in the SEC. UT may complain about him when the lose in the tourney but they will still support and appreciate him. No one will give a crap in LA.
