Richest forum members?

I'm in West Chester. Which club are you a member of? I can't justify the higher club prices so I'm happy to be a member of Hamilton Elks.
lol my "club" is a 9 hole course in Franklin where the beers are $2 I was just messing with Cory. If it ever closes down I'd join Wildwood which is an actual country club because it is somewhat affordable. I have friends that belong to Sycamore and NCR and those prices are outrageous. Played the Dayton Country Club a few weeks ago, very nice course and way out of my price range.

if you are a member of the Hamilton Elks you probably know Ed Sapp. I do business with him.

I've played NCR but not DCC or Sycamore. One of the other reasons I haven't joined a club is because we have an embarrassing number of quality courses in Cincinnati and Dayton. I'm playing Heatherwoode Sunday.

I’m comfortable I guess. Season ticket holder to the Carolina Panthers and able to travel anywhere in the country if I want to. My Thrift Savings/401K is gonna be looking pretty good once I retire so I will have options.

I know of him but haven't met him. I've been playing up there for about 5 years but only joined last year. I've got about 10-15 buddies who were members there and they finally convinced me to pull the trigger. The brewery affords me more flexibility than our previous company.

I like Heatherwood, if you haven't played it yet try out Pipestone in Miamisburg, for the price you can't beat it.

25 years old, out of college for a little over 2 years now. I’m probably on the low end around here.
Im about 10 years older than you and I was still in school @25 and probably had a few hundred in my account at any given time. My first year out I carried a balance of tens of dollars at all times. It wasn't fun.

We did our furniture on a 60 month interest free finance. And I did get a refrigerator financed for 24 months interest free. But yeah, those high interest credit cards are what get people in trouble. I put that in the living above your means category. I was 30 years old before I even applied for a credit card and that was only because I needed to rent a car.

Yeah, I got in trouble years ago with one. Played golf all summer on it. They gave me like a $12,000 credit limit. I had no business with one that high at the time. I eventually paid it off though. We use it now to pay for vacations and stuff like that then pay it off, which builds up points to use.

Right that makes sense as long as you pay it off immediately, I bought a mower on a Sears card just for the $150 off and points that came with it... But it is dumb to use it like a paycheck advance. My wife ran up $10,000 on one while living with her parents which absolutely blows my mind but we paid it off and I destroyed it. That was a nice wedding surprise btw.. $10k of credit card debt. That shit takes awhile to pay off.

Yes, it does. I've been there. We are like you with them. I use the Lowe's card always because of the 10% off but we just pay it.

I've definitely played Pipestone. Fun track but a little quirky.

Yep. Same story. My wife had like a hundred pairs of shoes, as many purses and closets full of expensive clothes. I thought, alright, she has money. Nope, ho just had a credit card. She got that taken care of before we got married though. On her own account, I would have still married her. Haha

I agree with most everything you say except for paying cash for everything and saying credit cards are dumb. You can literally get thousands of dollars a year back in perks if you do it right, but yeah, just be smart and pay them off fully every month.

There's a really long thread on the mainboard about credit cards that's worth reading if you have a subscription. You don't even have to be a big spender to get back some awesome rewards. There's rotating categories that pay you back 5% on some cards, sign up bonuses can give you 50-100K points for some cards where you then can swap them for points for other carriers. It's not impossible to be an average spender and get free flights and hotels paid for 1-2 times a year just by really playing around with the opportunities your credit cards will give you.
FYI, this will sound dumb, but get the Uber cash back card. Unlimited 4% at restaurants and unlimited 3% on travel. I eat out almost every meal, so the 4% has added up very quickly.

Yeah i have a 2,100 sq foot ranch on 1/3 acre in a subdivision that I bought for $120K but could sell now for around $160-170K and a rental home that the renter is paying down my mortgage on plus I make like $150/month off of. Other than that i have no loans, I drive a 2010 Tundra, wife has an 08 Escape that are both paid off. I pay cash for everything except cars and homes, credit cards and financing furniture/appliances is dumb unless you're going to pay it off immediately. Most people spend money as quickly as they bring it in (a constant fight I have with my wife) and live paycheck to paycheck. I've been poor before and never intend on that happening again so I am very frugal.
i am with ya
i have no debt
i have been lucky in life, i love where i live (been there 33 years) and never house jumped
i say i am frugal my friends call me a tight wad

eh, kinda. I actually make less than probably 90% of my friends that live in the exact same town or surrounding area. most of them have their own businesses though or are in the mortgage/title business... or they're financial advisers that live in $750,000 homes with lake houses, boats docked in Lake Erie and Florida, etc.
oh you poor thing.....

Hey!! My grandfather told me that.
My grandfather use to tell me to reach into his pocket and grab a roll of quarters. I always felt them in there but after tugging and tugging and tugging on the roll of quarters, I never got them out of his pocket. But I'd always have a sticky substance on my hand. Tasted weird too.

Ummm, we might be cousins...

Wife and I are both in the surgical sales/pharmaceutical sales. We both pull in low-to-middle 6 figure salaries. We do OK. Ultimately though, I have learned through a prior divorce from my exwife (who was a very successful pediatric dentist) that money does not make you happy. Lack of it might make you unhappy, but money can't repair it.

I don't have expensive hobbies, live in a nice home, make a couple of extra payments a year on it. I like doing simple things, hiking, landscaping, things like that. I consider myself rich in experiences and family.

his wife is loaded.

my wife and I just relocated to Alaska and have taken jobs with the local hospital there. We have no credit card debit and outside of car payments and monthly bills we have about 6 K in monthly discretionary income. Using that to payoff car payments and our house in Kansas (currently rented for our mortgage). I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination but we go on hiking/fishing/sight seeing trips whenever we want and don't worry about not having enough to pay the water bill.

So not sure... do we know who the richest forum members are?

Any seven figure earners on here?

People north of a half a million a year?
Every since my accident I'm barely getting by with a family of 5. I had a job that after the 5th year in, it was paying me almost $180k a year. Now, I'm just happy if I can work 10 months out of the year. But, I have great kids and an amazing wife who most definitely married down, but were all still happy. Well, were happy when the utilities aren't turned off for non payment lol.

However, I'd be lying if I acted like it wasn't an absolute brutal adjustment getting used to living like this! One of the hardest days my wife and I have ever had was when we told the kids that the way we've been living since my accident was a complete lie. We held onto all the materialistic items that we thought were important way to long. So, when we finally admitted to ourselves that we cant keep this up anymore, it was too late. Our kids went from waking up to their perfect upper middle class lifestyle to going to sleep not knowing if they would have a house/bedroom when they got home from school.

Bad times!!!!
