My dad sent me this this morning. Are you in the great state of Kentucky, @brooky03 ?

@FaithPlusOne What do you bench/squat? Max or what you work out with.

This is going to be TLDR for a lot of you so you can just skip past it.

I’m in my upper 30s and once injured my shoulder maxing out so I don’t really do that anymore. The most I ever benched was 275 for 3 reps when I was 31 (weighed about 155 at the time). When I bench now I’ll probably go 185 - 225 for reps, but I like to do push-ups, cable work, and Dumbbells more than the bar.

I still squat but I like to keep it pretty light. I like to do a lot of fast twitch work on my legs. They’re decently built but I think a lot of that has to do with sports when I was younger and maintenance stuff since. I just don’t want to look like a top heavy chicken so I never skip leg day.

I have some gym equipment in my basement. It’s not a full gym but I have some decent stuff to get a good workout in. Working from home I get 5-6 days in a week. When I was going to the office it was probably around 3-4. I like to do a 3-day split where I work opposite body parts. Day 1 is chest and back, day 2 is biceps and triceps, and day 3 is legs and shoulders. Abs I just sort of throw in as I go on any given day. I do opposites because I can rest one while working the other and I like to put legs and shoulders together because legs is the biggest muscle group and shoulders don’t need much.

I’m not a tall dude (5’8) and I weight about 160 now with a pretty athletic build (never been a mass monster or anything). I could be in better shape if I ate better and pushed myself, but my goals have shifted over the years. I care more now about looking and feeling good as opposed to how much I’m lifting. I cared about that when I was in my 20s, single, and had a commercial gym membership.

This might sound ridiculous but I actually prefer to have sports or Netflix on. Sometimes I’ll put YouTube on with various fitness or workout stations because I find them motivating. During big UNC games I like to go down there and get a workout in to get nervous energy out while watching.

Over the weekends I’ll often put Serie A on Paramount +. I recently realized that Paramount + also has a big library of old MTV Challenge seasons so that’s been pretty fun to re-watch after so many years.

Most people like music when they lift, and I used to listen to rock in my headphones when I was younger, but lately I’ve been using it as “me time” to catch up or enjoy other things.
