Place to put my Nonsense Thread.

We barely stock 4x4's here. 55 today.

Sucks b/c it used to be a need and not a want. Now it's a want and not a need.

No need here either and I’ve lived places that have set snow records. Front wheel drive and solid snow tires is all you need to be just fine.

yea I went from having to worry about stray bullets entering my living room to now worrying about the skunks who hang out in the field behind my house late at night. And there's that one fat squirrel who keeps raiding the bird feeder.
Quitter.

I'm guessing you'd be surprised how many 4x4 trucks your neighbor dealer sells. You don't shop for them, but 1000/1 90'% of your local Chevy/Dodge/Ford dealership earn from those deals.

Moved to Deerfield March 2020. My office is in Northbrook so it works out great. Plus I grew up in Deerfield and my parents still live there. Went from a condo to a house with a nice yard connected to massive park. Celebrated the extra space by getting two labrador puppies.

Loving suburban life.

Awesome dude. Sounds amazing to me. We also bought a house near a park a couple years ago. Fenced in our back yard for our doggo. It’s been perfect. We also bought kayaks last spring when covid hit and live about 10 miles from 10 different lakes. Just can’t imagine trading how we live for city life.

Wife has been home all week. Her methadone clinic was a victim to ransomware.

At work today. I'm guessing they paid to have it done in three days.

Also add chemical spill to disasters.

Oh I mean people still love their 4x4’s here. I’m just saying that I’ve never had trouble driving with a standard front wheel drive car and snow tires. Put some snowies on my Elantra and it drives through snow like a tank.

How long does it take to put chains on your tires?

I like to think I could do it pretty quick even though I never have.

I think I mentioned it here already but I’m gonna have to sell my Elantra. I’ve loved Hyundai’s and my Elantra but the rate they are getting stolen is absurd. Milwaukee has had 6,000 Kias/Hyundais stolen in 2021.

I’m not cool with that the way Seth Rogan is. We basically have to buy a car to be our “take to the city” car.

Our lot is 1.2. miles around the edge. For exercise I like to walk that while starting the cars.

It's a small way to walk and make sure the cars start when showing them.

What are you thinking to replace it with?

Car,SUV,truck?

Dark or light colors?

You have some negative equity to carry over if you've just made payments after your brought up buying it.

I think you'd like the all new sedan right over here.

Trying to sell the snow tires I used for one winter on my Hyundai Accent. Bought them for about $65 each, used them one winter, and then ended up getting it totaled because of hail damage the next spring. Now I’ve got snow tires for a car that doesn’t fit anything.

Hey @lurkeraspect84 , I want to get a new SUV, but I heard that prices are way up due to the shipping issues and general lack of inventory. Is that true? Should I hold off on buying and if so, when do you think would be a good time to buy?

I was thinking a KIA Sorrento or something similar. The KIA's get great reviews. I have a Murano which I love, but the new Murano's get mediocre reviews.

Won't get anything nicer than that since my cars end up looking like a dog kennel in about 2 weeks.

Yeah but I haven’t seen a snake in 3 years despite spending a lot of time on lakes, hiking trails, golf courses, etc. I’ll take that trade off.
We have about 30 different species of snakes. 6 different venomous kinds. There is a spot on the south side of the cape fear where people like to cast for bait fish m. It is an old dredging hole with brackish water and sandy bottom. You can find 3 kinds of rattlesnakes, copperheads, cottommouths, alligators, stingrays, sharks and coyotes and bears at any given time. Great place to kayak, ZFG.

Find what you really love.

Really love. Amazing how many schmucks get trapped in a car they don't love.

Do your own financing (at least shop your credit tier rates), then offer 500-1000 over invoice. Don't be afraid to leave, it's your money. You're only going to make so much. If dealer lets you leave, you have their best deal.

As far as pos cars, google warranty work

I am a huge lake person myself. Mainly for fishing and drinking. Can't have a single trip without seeing a venomous snake swimming around in the water. Damn Moccasins are everywhere.

We absolutely love our Hyundais. We own a 2019 Tucson. Just sucks that Kias and Hyundais have such a theft problem right now.

A few years ago I pulled a cottonmouth out of my neighbor's ditch that looked like it ate full grown catfish. Head was bigger than my hand. But he wasn't but like 3 or 4 ft long. There was a rattlesnake caught at Topsail Island that was 8 feet long. No way to grab that fvcker without him being able to whip back at you.

What if I'm paying cash, no credit or financing? Same strategy for $500-$1000 over invoice?

You didn't answer my main question though...are prices inflated right now because of lack of inventory or is that just a rumor I heard?

Why can't it? Stop being paranoid.

You're more apt to have a steering column coupler go out (should be a recall) than someone breaking in.

There were 3,100 auto thefts in Milwaukee between January 1st and October 18th, 2020. During the same timeframe in 2021, the city had 8,432 auto thefts.

"It’s happening all over the city and I know some suburban areas have also been targeted," said Sgt. Efrain Cornejo of the Milwaukee Police Department.

Again it's everywhere. I guess I just got used to not leaving anything within eyesight. (wife's commuter car is a Kia Forte)

Point being, don't carry over negative equity (im sure you have a lot) on to a new car due to a sense of insecurity.

Honestly, I have GAP insurance and I'd love it if her car was stolen. pls baby jesus let her car get stolen and totaled.

Just get an F150 SuperCrew. I will never have another vehicle again. I recently had to have it worked on due to a hit and run (fugging Louisville) and they put me in a Toyota Tacoma for a week. Nice truck, but not as nice as the full sized trucks are. Especially for big boys like me.

You can get an F150 turbo charged V6 that isn't awful on gas. Won't be as good as the car, but might make you feel safer and less paranoid.

I leave my wallet in my truck every night. But I am very relaxed where I live, and its very quiet with not a lot going on. If I were to drive downtown, probably wouldn't do that.

If you happen to have the 10-speed automatic, keep an eye on it. My dad has an 2020 F150 and had to have the torque converter replaced, luckily just barely within warranty.

Not chains.

Dang you change tires? You could own the street I live on.

I'm giddy about breaking out my snow power wagon again. I hope we get some snow.

That was a lot of fun.

Nope I pay people to change my tires. Or Costco does it for free if my tires are through them.
Did you start the "do you change your own tires? thread.?

Walmart has the same deal. I rotate/patch/plug my own though. Change brakes/oil/spark plugs, last weekend changed shocks in the rear. Took the tire off and two bolts. Put the tire back on. Felt sparky and did it on both sides.

Do y'all visit gravesites? We were up in Chapel Hill visiting my cousin and her family this past weekend and on the way home we stopped by my sister's gravesite. Didn't do anything for me except make me hate my brother more. Was really odd to me, why do we do this?
