Place to put my Nonsense Thread.

What’s funny to me is major syndicate programming like Fox or CNN/MSNBC are essentially the same thing. They’re just catering to an audience that they know will get them viewership, and in turn monetary stability.

It kind of blows my mind that people tune into these stations habitually. My dad (whom is retired) watches it all day/everyday, and he sounds like a lunatic at times…regurgitating fodder that was spoon fed to him based on pure emotion from these “pundits/actors”. Actually, it’s kind of scary when you think about it.

All of the people I know who watch any of it aren't reasonable at all. They can't have a conversation that shares any POV that isn't their own without seeing red and getting all worked up.

Media=money. People getting upset from their “stance” whether it be right or left clearly don’t understand how mass media works. They literally feed off clicks and emotion, and it clearly works.
And there are a lot of emotions from the left. So they generate more clicks from emotional left loons. It's all making sense now, why the media is a left wing propaganda dispenser.

CNN is a different animal. They are almost going under for not reporting any news and relying on straight liberal opinion. Pretty sure they will clean house and try to save the network from going under.

The right and left are an emotional dumpster fire in terms of major syndicate programming. Saying one is different from the other is like choosing which turd smells worse. They all suck, but people keep watching and the money machine keeps churning. It’s sad really.

Fox and cnn are the exact same thing in my mind. Actors who truthfully don’t care, but are paid to act outraged. Glenn Beck is a perfect example of it. He even admitted to it, same goes for Don Lemon…except he’s still getting paid by said network to act holier than thou on topics and appear up in arms. It’s total bologna.

The funny thing is, it isn’t even their point of view, it’s that of a “pundit” that didn’t even write the script.

There is logic behind the theory that news outlets appeal to their base. Especially in the primetime block. But it is dishonest to say that, 1) it is done equally on the left and right and 2) that it is the main reasoning for why these networks "report" the news the way they do. Name one anti democrat agenda that the corporate media put coordinated efforts into feeding the public. I can give you Russia, Ukraine, children in cages, white supremacy, Hunter Biden, Joetato's involvement with Hunter's dealings, handling of covid, and many more examples of the coordinated efforts to smear the right from multiple news sources.

I’ve recently deleted my Instagram (which was the only form of social media I had) and never watch major news stations. I’ll tune into the local news once in a while. It feels pretty great. I’m not trying to be willfully ignorant, but none of it interests me.

I browse through stories and keep up with interesting court cases. But haven't watched the news more than a few times since the beginning of 2020. I laugh at myself, but the most news I get is from what lunatics on tMB post. Not from them, but from the links.

I was merely speaking on the prime time major programs. I think something like Breitbart or the blaze or radio shows like Limbaugh get viewer/listenership but not on such a major scale of influence to reach greater masses of people to form public opinion. If you watch Fox News there are plenty of anti-liberal topics. Not sure if that’s what you were talking about.

I’m kind of the same, but I’ve even limited my clicks, mostly due to indifference. I mostly can’t stand how passionate some people are about an article they just read, and can’t wait to share said information to people.

I am talking about clearly coordinated efforts between multiple news agencies to either bury stories that hurt democrats or spread propaganda that hurts republicans. I get that you will find individual conservative news agencies that are guilty of it, but not coordinated efforts to the level of AP, NPR, and other far reaching news sources.

I think it is a fair point that you made with media relying on emotional clicks and views, and it’s catered to liberal Americans. Not sure how it correlates to anything but monetary gain. I sometimes wonder if it is to entice moderate people/independents in participation of their content. Not sure. I’m very convinced that none of these people care about any issue other than increasing their revenue, and maintaining their brand.

He posts daily on DI in the Duke NBA thread. And sometimes in the game threads. But haven't seen him in OT threads in a long time. He is probably a much healthier individual for it.
Hadn’t seen him on this board in a long time. It’s pretty easy to skip over political threads. I’ll join this one occasionally, but I’d rather browse the basketball related threads personally.

Yeah. I used to be better at moving on to basketball, but the past few years have been tough for me to get into with the OAD and then covid. But I am starting to get the feeling back. Duke only starts two freshman this year and Wendell Moore is money so far in his JR year.

You’ve got a reason to be excited this year. Duke has a squad, and I’m looking forward to our matchup..even though I think we lose. I can’t figure our team out at all without our coach. I know some will say that sounds like an excuse, but you and I (major cbb fans) know that having your HC is crucial for some of these younger guys.

I’m no fan of Fox News and generally never give a second thought ever clicking on the station. But they are 100% more unbiased on their news arm. Hell, they were calling trump out right and left.
CNN went full liberal opinion and left actual news out in the cold. They couldn’t keep biased politics out of a town pie eating contest story. In the past 2-4 yrs they’ve injected faux racism and pushed any anti white gas lighting terms they could. If you look at their actual ratings I think it would blow your mind where they were 10 yrs ago compared to now. They promoted division and stopped writing and producing fair and balanced material. It has blown up in their face. CNN used to be argued as just a little left of center……now they make Bernie sanders seem moderate.
