Place to put my Nonsense Thread.

Who’s up for a game of ‘Is It Racist?’

Scenario: I ordered some AirPods from Walmart. I received wired Beats earphones. Initiated the return online and took them to the nearby Walmart which happens to be in an area with a large Black population. The customer service gentleman would not take the return because the item was not what was described in the order (No shit!). Suspecting that that Walmart sees a lot of shenanigans with returns, hence his reluctance to take it, I called my wife to let her know I’d take a little longer to get home because I’d decided to go to the “white Walmart” 20 minutes away. The return was accepted right away.

Racist?

Glad to hear it, man. Stay off that shit! Don't trust anything you get off the streets.
Yea u damn sure cant anymore. They oughta make lortabs otc and put them on the shelf everywhere and if people wanna eat them till their liver rots then let em, no one has a problem with people using alcohol the same way, and in alot of cases to kill pain. And methadones and subs all u gotta do is show up and get em, i dont imagine they turn many people away bc they dont get to charge you for that. Plus in their eyes they are helping, which fornsone they are, for others they are just getting them high everyday until they can find something better. Or giving them something to sell/trade.

then i think ud obv see no sub/meth clinics and i honestly think there woukd be less heroin use as well.

Now obv theres gonna be a shit ton of people on lortabs but hell theres a shit ton of alcoholics, caffeine addicts, etc etc.

Im just not real sure there is a good answer for the opiod crisis tbh. I mean they are pills that take away pain fron a broken bone to a tooth ache. Theres always gonna be demand for that. Im just afraid the more and more they cut back in prescribing them the more abd more people will turn to heroin or pressed fake shit and that market replaces the illegal pill market. Neither are good but pills are wayyyyyyyy less dangerous than the other two.

You labeling wal marts are “white or black” is the most racist thing ive seen since i was informed of the dark racist history of bird watching.

Seriously though i feel like much of this racists stuff all around is more based on wealth than skin color. Was the “white” wal mart in a better part of town where they might not have to deal with as many return shenanigans?

I dont even have a wal mart in my podunk town but i thought theyd take returns on damn near anything to avoid the headache bc its just pennies to them in the end anyways.

Or maybe u just got the wrong rep, and anyone else at the “black” walmart would have happily returned it for you. Too many unknown variables imo to declare it blatant racism.

The white Walmart is in a poor rural college town. The first Walmart is just inside city limits near the airport.

There's definitely white and black walmarts in Memphis. Same with Kroger and a lot of other stores.

I'm not saying one's better than others, but they're different. What's really surpising is Walmart knows this too.

Take for example Walmart in the shorth north has Great Value brands on almost everything. Walmart in Barlett, has almost no Great Value brands.

The biggest difference I’ve noticed is how they staff the self-checkout lanes. The ones in the poor areas in the city staff more people to help (keep watch) at the self-checkout lanes and always have one or two people checking receipts. The one in the college town in the country had nobody checking receipts and one person helping at self-checkout. I couldn’t say one was busier than the other.

Not sure poor and college town go together lol. Regardless my town has 2k ppl so i cant offer much of an informed opinion about big cities or city structure.

Id assume the airport would be in a decently nice part of town but again i have no clue what the demographics of big cities look like besides the onv diff between projects and suburbs.

Are u saying u thibk dude wouldnt return em bc yall are diff races or just the wal mart in general has stricter policies in returns bc its in a “black” part of town?

State university. They tend not to be in affluent areas in NY. But “poor” is relative. I’d say it’s lower-middle class.

In my experience, real estate around airports is undesirable and those areas tend to be on the poorer side. Syracuse and Rochester are that way, at least.

The Walmart in the short north has little things where you have to put a quarter in to get a cart and when you push it back and lock it in, you get the quarter back. They were in downtown Columbus as well.

Ahh never thought of the noise of the planes making it undesirable to live near.

The latter. I was in the first Walmart before and a guy tried returning a few drones. Each one had been opened and was missing parts. It certainly looked like he was trying to pull one over on the customer service lady. She was having none of it. I’m sure that’s not unique to that Walmart, it is Walmart after all, but the sense is that this Walmart sees stuff like that a lot more. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say their customer service agents are trained to be more critical of returns.

Another thing ive never seen in small town usa lol. Crazy, what they think u gonna steal their cart? And if so wouldnt it be well worth a quarter?

Aldi does that. But it’s mostly meant to avoid the need to pay cart wranglers

I used to think Public access was the best tv in Columbus. Local news in Memphis is up there.

*sorry, meant to post this in the nonsense thread.

I love saying something to people when they don’t return the cart to the corral area.
Seriously, they push it around the entire store for what an hour or so, and then they can't push it 20ft to the corral? "did it wear you out you lazy f^ck?"

I have a dent in our commuter car b/c of a shopping cart. Huge pet peeve of mine.

What were the methodologies for deciding what counted as negative coverage? How was airtime counted? For example, MSNBC and CNN running concurrent 1 hour reports about McCain being dumb or something should count as 1 hour, not 2. If online articles were counted, how did they decide which outlets to study?
Obviously your mind is made up so folks should stop trying to confuse you with the facts.

Last local headline. @brooky03 should love this.

"Starting Thursday, people 21 and older are no longer required to obtain a permit to carry a handgun."

When their murder rate spikes, do we still blame the Dems? I assume yes.

Our top sprinter might miss the Olympics for smoking cannabis.

Meanwhile, New Zealand has a man competing against women in weightlifting. All seems perfectly logical.
Shit, if you can smoke and run faster than everyone else, more power to you. And yea, how the hell does the rest of the world justify a man lifting against women?

Why are they testing for drugs that aren't performance enhancers?

Idk. Doesn't make sense to me. Steriods, yes. Of course. But, marijuana? It's not going to make you faster, or stronger, or more coordinated.

I remember getting drug tested in college. It's so freaking awkward. You have a guy within a foot or two of you, watching you pee. Don't miss those tests at all.
