Place to put my Nonsense Thread.

I wouldn’t say win it, but they definitely deserve a lot of credit, at least a lot more then they get sometimes.

Marquis de Lafayette is a legend as far as trolling is concerned.

British troops used to sing Yankee Doodle to make fun of the patriot soldiers. At Yorktown, Lafayette ordered our band to play Yankee Doodle as the brits marched by. Legend.

Nah, bruh, We paid them back and them some in WWI and WWII. They would be Germany West if not for Murica

True true. We paid them back with interest.

I don’t think anybody in their spot in WW2 would’ve had a chance though. It was like waking up in the middle of the night to a thump and grabbing your shotgun, only to find a dozen guys in your living room with grenades and LMGs.

Are you talking Poland or France, because that is a pretty damn good description of what happened to Poland.

It really is nuts how quickly Germany was able to invade the countries around them. I've always pondered, how a nation with similar size, location, and population, can become so much more powerful than everyone else around them.

France didn't have radios in all their tanks while the Germans did. So Germany was able to maneuver their tank corps with much more efficiency, plus they were able to call in for air support. Germany was just much more prepared at the beginning of WW2 than the Allies from a training standpoint and just outmaneuvered the fvck out of them. They did it with such precision that the media dubbed it Blitzkrieg.

What if’s are always interesting, had Hitler not invaded Russia in the Winter, they likely hold up on the eastern front. Would they have eventually tried to invade the United States? Or did they leave Japan to do their dirty work?

Yep. Hell if we are left alone do we join the war in time, or even at all?

My kids were watching this show last night (it's only the first 2 minutes of this clip). I almost never pay to attention their shows, but couldn't avoid hearing this one. One of the rainbow rangers saw that there was a fracking pipe and mentioned that, "scientists say that it's risky to the environment." There are numerous studies that say fracking is safe. Never mind the fact that 2/3 of the natural gas in the US is produced from fracking. And roughly 2/3 of our clothing is made from fossil fuel synthetics. Just about every single person in the U.S. is a consumer of the fracking and oil business.

But, sure, tell us how fracking and earthquakes should be linked together, and we should stop fracking at all costs. Of course the guy who owns the fracking pipe is portrayed as a ridiculous money-grubbing capitalist who doesn't care about anyone but himself. Seems like they're portraying the capitalist as evil and the activists rangers as the heroes. Clearly propaganda.

Even if the creators of this television show believe in this message, why would you present this to little children? Very inappropriate, IMO.

Are you still going to let your kids watch that? I can tell you right now, if I ever had kids, they won't be watching any show that can pit them one way or the other. That's straight brainwashing when they're that young.

I'm going to monitor it, no question. I hate to just terminate something altogether from one message that I didn't like. My wife heard me when I was softly scoffing at the fracking segment; she said not to make a big deal out of it. I mean, I seriously doubt they're internalizing anything. But, if this show continues with propagandistic content, then I might need to put my foot down.

Where the hell did you find that show for your kids? Is it popular?

It's on Nick Jr. The target audience is for 3-6 year-olds.

My wife is a Democrat, albeit a very moderate one.

Looks like a good show to watch on acid. I’m lucky my 4 year old hasn’t found it yet. Her taste is pretty good. The only thing she watched that I actively tried to steer here away from was that Blippy nonsense.

Devilz post has me curious, do any of you have significant others whos beliefs and politics are way different than your own?

Wouldn’t have married someone that wasn’t conservative. She says she’s “independent”, but she’s far more conservative than not.

My wife is a republican in a truer sense than I am. Not the religious type conservative, though.

She's not a democrat anymore

She's becoming more progressive, in the truer sense of the word. Obama in 2012, Johnson in 2016, Trump in 2020. Tends to be apolitical, but will listen in to the stories from time-to-time. I think the identity politics is what she finds the most annoying and useless about the DNC.

Never pondered that. Did Japan cost Germany the war by poking the bear?

My understanding is that Hitler was going to come for us with Japan, but wanted to wait until Britain was dealt with. When we cut off oil to Japan, among other things, they felt like their hand was forced and had to attack early. That pissed Hitler off, supposedly. Japan thought they’d cripple the Pacific fleet, which would buy them time after the attack. But our carriers happened to be out to sea, by chance, and they missed some key targets in Pear Harbor.

In short, Japan fvcked up.

She leans Dem now. Before Trump, she was more in the middle, and considered herself a Republican before that. Trump really turned her off from the GOP.

Her parents, mostly her mom, are pretty far to the right of the political spectrum.

She doesn’t get into the weeds of economic policy and foreign policy, etc. politics isn’t a topic we bring up much but we’re usually pretty well aligned.

Edit: I read that with a comma haha. Like you were asking if my wife was a Dem. I get it now. Shit

Possibly, but probably not. Going after Russia in winter was Hitler’s downfall. Also if Pearl Harbor succeeds in completely crippling our navy we could have been in a world of hurt. They just struck out on our carriers not being there at the time.

And missing those carriers ended up leading to them getting ****ed up at Midway.
