Place to put my Nonsense Thread.

Good. Debt forgiveness is dumb. If they want to forgive debt they need to repay everyone that paid off their student loans too. But no, America always wants to reward the irresponsible ones....

If you took out a $100K loan to get your music appreciation degree, you deserve to be in massive debt for the rest of your life.

I hope stores a hour north and south the bridge, are saving their money. Hope the cities are as well, they'll need it to fix the wear and tear on the roads.

Memphis wanted to build a 3rd bridge, and I wonder with this crack, they'll get special treatment from Biden's plan. I hope so.

There will be a lot more ppl with money around Memphis during the construction.

Locals from politicians down to labor to salesmen are already lotioning their palms.

Bruh, nobody cares about Memphis or the stupid bridge. 😆

I think we should repay our loans. I'm currently repaying mine. But some of these loans are not much different than predatory lending. That wasn't the case for me but it is for some.

Student loans are like medical bills (delinquent) , when trying to get car loan. Most banks we deal with, which happens to be most banks, don't care so much as long as your other bills are taken care of. House, car, cc, etc.....and for the love of all holy, don't have a utility bill as a collection. Even if you pay it off, it has to proces thru them and then report, it takes forever.

That's definitely true as well. These lenders exist for the purpose of making money though, they aren't putting people through college to be nice. If they invested that same $100K (or whatever the loan amount is) into something else they should expect an exponential return on investment over the course of 10 or 20 years. They aren't giving you $100K to get back that same amount decades later.

Even as shady and predatory as some loans might seem, all the terms are clearly stated and defined in the contract. It isn't like they are pulling the wool over anyone's eyes. You know going in what you are signing up for so there is no excuse to cry fraud years later.

Now, if we want some kind of reform it should start with the outlandish price of a college education to begin with.

Right, the problem I have an issue with is the amount. You can take out way more than you actually need to pay for your school. I know that the person agrees to that but some of these people are 18 years old and don't know ****. Heck, I was 17 when I started college and luckily didn't have to worry about my undergrad but still, just goes to show the problem. It's hard to expect a teenager to make smart decisions like that. Again, I'm not saying we forgive them and agree completely about the cost of higher education. It's a huge problem.

Oh for sure, if I was 18 and you offered me $100K I'm not reading shit, just asking where do I sign.

Ugh, tell me about it. The socks are bad enough, but fitted sheets and women's shirts really suck to fold.

The struggle is real.

I'm glad the wife is good at it.

They are both crooked cash grabs imo.

Id say 75% of grads learn more (relevant stuff) in the first month on the job than they did in four years of college anyways.

Not to mention half the prerequisites are a joke depending on what field you want to go into. Id have fared just fine with no himanities or world civ or creative writing etc etc. But thats another 2 years of tuition smh.
