Pat Forde rips Bill Self and Kansas

Ole Patty Volleyball spikes another into the net, huh.

How many consecutive years has KU had a player ruled ineligible? At some point the guy running the show, William Self, needs to be put to the fire, no? I mean it’s laughable at this point to claim ignorance when for 3 or 4 straight years he’s had a player deemed ineligable for impermissible benefits.

DeSousa this year
Preston last year
Alexander the year prior to Preston

Am I missing anyone?

And this doesn’t even touch the off court issues that surround his players every year. It’s unreal to be honest.

If this were Calipari he’d have been tar and feathered 6 years ago. Self seems to always get a pass.

Josh Selby was for a time.

De Sousa and Preston were given endless benefits? Holy shit...that two-year suspension makes sense now.

McLemores recruitment was extremely dirty

I agree with all of this. The best part though is that I don’t care at all how shady they look.

You still don’t think Zion requesting stuff from Kansas makes Duke look suspect?

...on the one hand yes, but on the other you'd ask Kansas if you thought they were a payor in the absence of knowing Duke was or not. Maybe he was just establishing market value.

The 3 you listed were in the article:

T.J. Gassnola (3), a known bag man and now convicted felon, who I was in contact with during this recruitment and others, paid the money that helped bring Silvio to Kansas.

Silvio De Sousa has been declared ineligible, and playing him last year will almost certainly vacate our 2018 Final Four appearance. Billy Preston (6) was recruited to Kansas and never played a minute after his mother also was paid by T.J. Gassnola. Cliff Alexander (7) was declared ineligible during the 2015 NCAA tournament and never played again for our school. Assistant coach Kurtis Townsend (8) was quoted on a wiretap transcript discussing a housing-job-cash deal to land Zion Williamson (9).

Before the last 3 years, they have had quite a few "weird" situations. Josh Jackson was implicated, but not sure if they ever proved anything, though his mom was... interesting.

https://www.daytondailynews.com/spo...ruption-investigation/pGCpKo6Y5qYcxcIm6tXe3N/

Cheick Diallo apparently had eligibility concerns, and Kansas paid 6-figures for lawyers to help clear him:

https://www.rockchalktalk.com/2019/...ns-silvio-de-sousa-suspension-kansas-jayhawks

Without going into detail on all of them, here is a summary that is easily found online. It includes "weird" and shady activity from KU, for the following players:

Darnell Jackson - $5k in impermissible benefits

Julian Wright - committed to KU after cutting them from his list, and never visiting

Mario Chalmers - dad gets hired to KU staff with very limited experience, moves family from Alaska to Lawrence

Brandon Rush - couldn't qualify at multiple schools, had a 0.0 GPA in HS, misses first 2 weeks of classes at KU and ends up with a 3.6 that semester. He was also later investigated by NCAA for taking improper benefits from an Agent

Sherron Collins - had a "weird" recruitment, led by Chicago bag man Anthony Longstreet

Darell Arthur - supposedly never graduated high school.

Morris Twins - were not going to qualify academically, so they both moved to Lawrence to finish high school. Markeif also later in a car accident, driving a former NBA / KU player's car.

Josh Selby - driving Mercedes owned by an Adidas rep (Scottie Bowden), has relationship with NBA rep for Carmelo. Eventually held out by NCAA for 9 games, for improper benefits. Academic issues rumored.

Pump Brothers - AAU team that was doing "weird" things. Many KU players played for them, and they also hired Chalmers' dad.

Ben McLemore - ruled ineligible / partial qualifier

Jamari Traylor - partial qualifier

None of that includes the off the court legal troubles by KU players, including Collins, Rush, CJ Giles, Morris twins, Tyshawn Taylor, Morningstar, Mario Little, Elijah Johnson, Ben McLemore, etc.

So yea... quite a bit of smoke since 2004.

Zion is on wiretap requesting stuff from Kansas? If someone from his camp was I wouldn't be surprised but I don't think that incriminates Duke, if anything this could be similar to the Nassir Little recruitment. someone in his camp was asking for stuff, news breaks, he decides to go to the school that didn't offer him $$.

I doubt anything happens to Duke. They're too far removed from what's on record as stuff that supposedly happened. Just saying, it helps support my belief I've always had that we're all fans of dirty schools.

Duke won't get trouble on their doorstep from the Zion dealings with KU. Their bagman (Capel) bolted for Pitt and this gave them plausible deniability.

Why would Duke get in trouble for something dealing with Zion and KU?

Is that why UK’s bagman (Orlando Antigua) bolted for South Florida?

I said they wouldn't. The only way an investigator could tie in Duke is if it was revealed that they were in some sort of bidding war with KU to land ZW.

Or any school recruiting Zion. Quite a bit of schools going after Z!

We are clearly bad at hiding things.

KU would be the first person found in a game of German Spotlight.

Regarding Kansas I'm going to be as up front an forward as I possibly can. If everything Pat Forde knows all of these things to be true and the NCAA has all the evidence against KU in all of the aforementioned violations, stop f**king around, lay everything out on the table and punish the coaching staff (fire them, suspend them or whatever is deemed fit) and/or the school in whatever sanctions necessary. I'm okay with it if it were to happen. If the NCAA supposedly has everything, spit it the f**K out and act on it.

Recruiting now is cutthroat and it's no secret all the nation's top teams are all in on all the same players. At some point something gives. The player makes his decision and commits. Some schools get their feelings hurt when another school lands the recruit they desperately wanted and in some cases the finger pointing begins (as expected).

Even if what Forde says is true and the NCAA has all this, they love to drag their feet for whatever reason.

It's the dragging of the feet that seems to be the problem. If it's not dragging feet, cases are being built via hearsay, assumptions, and rumors....not exactly the best place to start in order to levy severe punishments. Like I said, if there is ample evidence to nail Kansas to the wall, then let's get it over with. If not, speculation only makes for interesting talking points and nothing more. It gives fans of opposing teams a platform to accuse others of being shady which is what's happening now.

Yup. Some schools are just better than others at hiding it. Being a private university helps said things too.
