Pat Forde rips Bill Self and Kansas

It's the dragging of the feet that seems to be the problem. If it's not dragging feet, cases are being built via hearsay, assumptions, and rumors....not exactly the best place to start in order to levy severe punishments. Like I said, if there is ample evidence to nail Kansas to the wall, then let's get it over with. If not, speculation only makes for interesting talking points and nothing more. It gives fans of opposing teams a platform to accuse others of being shady which is what's happening now.

I get what you're saying... but at what point is there enough smoke to realize that there is a fire? How many times can Self be blindsided by or look away from these accusations? He's been there for 15 years, and has had an "issue" with at least one player nearly every single season.

Silvio is ineligible for 2017-2019, per the NCAA. He's already sat out what, 50+ games? Cliff Alexander was ineligible in 2015, per the NCAA. Billy Preston was ineligible in 2017-18, per the NCAA and missed 30+ games. Those are just the last few of classes alone.

That doesn't include Josh Selby who had to sit out 9 games for taking impermissible benefits in 2010, or Darnell Jackson who had to sit out 9 games for taking impermissible benefits in 2005. Or Ben McLemore and Jamari Traylor that had to sit out their first semesters because of eligibility issues in 2011-12.

Let me guess...this obsession began in 2016?

Is he not allowed to have an opinion on a sport he watches without being obsessed? This is one of the silliest retorts people use around here.

And am I not allowed to ask if his intense interest in KU recruiting began before or after Josh Jackson committed to KU?

Nope, has nothing to do with Josh Jackson. I remember hearing about all of these "weird" things with Kansas, years ago.

Cliff Alexander was 2 years before Jackson, and things got really "weird" in that one too. Josh Selby was a few years before that, and I remember the drama surrounding that one as well. Mario Chalmers was years ago as well - didn't they basically change the NCAA rules after that, so that teams couldn't just hire parents to bunk positions?

If it were up to Josh himself he would have gone to MSU but the decision wasn’t his which is the case with a lot of elite prospects.

You seem to imply that Self is on an island of “weirdness.” Package deals with parents have been going on forever, and let’s not pretend that Mich St (and every other high profile program) doesnt have players on the FBI reports.

This is a systemic problem that involves the top 40 or so programs in the country. Hopefully they’ll bust everyone and punish them severely enough that it actually changes.

Ehh not sure I agree with all that. The only player on the FBI report for MSU, was Miles Bridges whose mom supposedly was taken out to lunch by Christian Dawkins, which was later proven to be false.

I don't think the Top 40 programs are all dirty. MSU dropped out of many "weird" recruitments over the years, including Cliff Alexander, Brian Bowen, Romeo Weems, etc. All 3 recruitments ended up being "weird" or implicated in the FBI trial.

None of this is to say that Self is alone or on an "island of weirdness" - only that he's had way too many weird instances, for it to be completely coincidental.

How many consecutive years has KU had a player ruled ineligible? At some point the guy running the show, William Self, needs to be put to the fire, no? I mean it’s laughable at this point to claim ignorance when for 3 or 4 straight years he’s had a player deemed ineligable for impermissible benefits.

DeSousa this year
Preston last year
Alexander the year prior to Preston

Am I missing anyone?

And this doesn’t even touch the off court issues that surround his players every year. It’s unreal to be honest.

If this were Calipari he’d have been tar and feathered 6 years ago. Self seems to always get a pass.
Kansas fans be like laa-lala-lala- laaaaa-lala-lala I can't hear you, but stop talking such mean things about my team laaa-lalalalala......

I suppose if you wish something into existence bad enough, you will get what you want.

Don't forget the pump brothers, aka David and Dana Pump.
