OT: Tiger...

I am not an avid follower and I know better than this. It's just Tiger set the bar so high for over a decade. That if he isn't winning a major a year the untrained sports commentator thinks he sucks.
Yea The Tour Championship is a huge, marquee event.

Actually, he was pretty dominant. He led by three shots after the first three holes---- --- And it never got under three until the 17th hole, on the final day. He led by as many as 7 shots. Tiger played smart on Sunday. He was playing to make the field come to him; Not him going to the field. He was never really in any danger of losing.
It is a huge deal that he won, yes. I admire him for coming back and being able to compete after all he's been through. Dominant would have been a 2 or 3 under day, not 1 over. He didn't want to win by 2, he wanted to win by 5 or more.
Now the guys close to him, most notably Rory, laid an egg. Maybe he was intimidated, I don't know.

No, he wanted to win. He said on Saturday exactly what he was going to do(need to do) on Sunday. And he did exactly that. He let others dictate just how aggressive he was. When came out and birdie from the get go, you could see it deflate the others. Yeah I am sure he would've LIKED to have won by 5, 6 or 7. But its not what he wanted. He got got what he wanted: The win.

Also, I never said yesterday was a dominant showing. I said the tournament was. And it was. He never trailed. MOF, no one got to within 2 strokes of him until the 17th hole(On Sunday). He didn't need to be dominant yesterday. He'd already done that. He just needed to be good. He knew that. And he was.

Knew he was beaten. After Woods birdie the first hole, and Rory bogeyed---it was over. You could see it on his face(Rory). Maybe he shouldn't have said what he did----That he and the others weren't getting the Tiger than Phil and company got. An intimidating Tiger.

Welp.............

Tiger had a plan---make the field chase him. Not go to the field. He played somewhat conservative. I have a feeling had someone made a move, or stayed with him early, we would have seen a different approach. But they didn't. So we didn't.

Yea biggest non major event. It's dubbed the 5th major.

The Players is the fifth major. The Tour Championship is cool as it is the last event of the season (and how the results end up for certain players determine who wins the FedEx Cup). It is probably right there behind The Players. In terms of total purse I don't think it is even top 10. Of course, the fact it helps decide who wins the 10 million kind of makes up for that though, haha.

Total purse is misleading in regards to the Tour championship though. Only a 30 player field.

Not a golf guy, but from an outsider this feels like Tebowmania. Was yesterday really some remarkable accomplishment or is the media just so starved for someone to be marketable in golf again that they are going to run with this as fuel for golf coverage for another year?

winning for the first time in 5 years and more importantly, the first time since having 4 BACK SURGERIES is easily the most impressive sports accomplishment we'll witness this year.

I've had 7 back surgeries so I know first hand how amazing that is. Just being able to walk and play for 4 straight days is amazing in itself, let alone do it at a world class level.

No doubt. Also, I'm not crapping on it. It is definitely top 10 and probably the 6th biggest tourney out there. Obviously, we are excluding the Ryder Cup.

The competition also makes it different because while it is theoretically the top 30 players in golf obviously almost anyone in the field can win in many tournaments. So it has a lot of competition in terms of elite golfers but not nearly as much overall in terms of even something like the Bridgestone.
